The final trailer for season 2 is now here and it points the direction that things are gonna be going in episode 8. Throughout this video we're gonna be going through it frame by frame to talk about everything that you need to know. Weirdly we find ourselves once more tied up in who should be ruling but this time it seems to be with the Greens. Aemond has ousted Aegon from the throne and it looks like there's a civil war within a civil war.

Hugh is Saera Targaryen's son. The irony is Jaehaerys called Saera a whore and her son ended up inheriting his dragon.
She was, she was removed from her royalty and she worked the brothel. She was removed because she slept around a lot.

It’s ironic because Jaehaerys was basically telling Saera she’d never be anything better than that, she’d never inherit his kingdom or have the privilege of bonding with a dragon. Yet Hugh, her son, DOES at least inherit a dragon, and not just any ole dragon-Jaehaerys’ dragon.

Everyone talks about Daemon sitting around in Harrenhall with visions, but I’m personally tired of seeing the same scene with Rhaena that ends with her turning the other direction with the same look of anguish on her face.
Yeah that shit is WAY worse. Daemons scenes progress the story, obv there's a payoff coming but with Rhaena it's so heavy handed it's kinda ruined it? Idk

@@Michele_78 That was my favourite scene of the episode, Oscar needed to prove himself as a new Lord of the Riverlands by despatching justice and putting Daemon in his place. If Daemon ordered Oscar about, it'd be the same scene in episode 3 when they first met, no character changes at all. The fact Daemon relinquishes his pride to guarantee the army for Rhaenyra's side shows immense growth. They are building up to Daemon putting aside his selfish ambition and focusing purely on supporting his family.
Aemond definitly harmed Helaena because she probably refused to mount Dreamfyre, then Alicent came to defend her by yelling at Aemond.

He’s actually trying to have Heleana help him with her dragon dreams - it’s been leaked - and the leaks have been 100% - also , in trailer it seems he’s asking her to ride her dragon, but I doubt that will happen. Would be awesome tho.

I thought it was way cool and super heroic when Hugh called Vermithor's attention away from that woman who was hiding behind the rock with him. He saved her twice in just a few seconds, first he shoved her out of the way of Vermithor bite, and again as the dragon was about to cook her medium rare and swallow her whole. Vermithor was clearly holding out for an honorable man of valor with 16 pound bowling balls for testicles, a pretty rare combination in this medieval world.
you wont think Hugh is cool in season 3 :) bro is the catalyst to the real doom of House Targaryen. if he didnt betray his queen. House Targaryen might have been able to rise from that war. but he is the one really fcking things up for house Targaryen.

I’m surprised Aemond is only employing Dreamfyre now. It is a huge dragon - up there with Vhagar, Vermithor, Cannibal and Sheepstealer. The only risk is whether or not Helaena has proper control of it
If I'm not mistaken, Dreamfyre is the second oldest dragon and is extremely formidable. People sleep on her.
@@joffreyscrossbow78 it’s a good point. I think vermithor and silverwing may be older - but only if size denotes age. Dreamfyre is slightly larger than Caraxes but smaller than Sheepstealer.

@patrickleonard4187 And that's exactly what the writers did. They interpreted a character arc for Daemon during his stay at Harrenhal. Yes, the book is not a novel, I get that but that doesn't include the timeline -- thats recorded history.

The dragons flying over the God's Eye to Harrenhall are Syrax (you can tell from the wings) and Seasmoke (can tell from the tail).

I agree. Most of us have lives to lead and if they're going to take so long in-between seasons, then you can't just have season 2 being boring and with little action in it. Why is it just 8 episodes? Stick two more on and have another battle.

Battle of the Gullet is in S3. Gods eye still needs to happen. Unless they completely abandon the book, we are at MINIMUM another season away before sacking of Kings Landing.

I was thinking that last dragon flying over the flames in the final shot was Rhaena finally spitting sheep stealer; I may be wrong though..it’s hard to tell but that dragon seems a bit too slender to be Vhagar

Oh man, all of these reviewers who have breakdowns seconds after an episode is finished.. are saying the same thing. They "suspect" the finale will only be a set up for season 3. It makes sense as they would get the episodes in advance for those breakdowns. 😣

Just a thought… Saying as it’s been driven home that High Valyrian is specifically what the dragons respond to, did the fact that Aemond was saying “no” when Vhagar went after Luke (instead of “daor”) possibly have something to do with her not obeying his command?

The point is Daeron didn't even got mentioned in Season 1. They definitely left the option open to cut him entirely. Which in hindsight just looks weirdly planned.

Cristen cole seems like he’s a broken man now ! The decimation of all his troops and the near dead king have changed him ! He is no longer aggressive and take charge ! I think he is accepting his own mortality now and that he is powerless in a war against dragons ! This is something they have seemed to flush out of his character that wasn’t touched upon in fire and blood ! Perhaps it has even humbled him which I’ve have gotten a sense of in the last few episodes ! It also seems his character is taking a backseat to the conflict now also !
He basically had no choice but to work for Alicent after he fucked up by sleeping with Rhaenyra, he never had much of a choice after that.

I think the burning town is more than likely gonna be Spicetown as that was sacked in the book directly after the dragonseeds section and is even specifically noted as being on fire which makes me thing we may actually get the battle of the gullet in the finale or at the very least it will be in the immediate start of season 3

If Rhaena is given Nettles’ storyline she shouldn’t earn Sheepstealer in one episode. It should be at least two episodes to see the progression of her feeding the dragon to gain his trust.
We get it: Daemon is hallucinating and Rhaenyra is sulking. Can we get on with it now?
For the first time in years I'm going to actually mourn the ending of this season of HOTD. What an absolute masterpiece of a season!

@@ladyhotep5189 I've absolutely loved this season as well, imo the best thing on streaming that has come out in years. I'm glad they are taking their time through the episodes giving us deeper moments and understanding of the characters and dragons we love vs rushing into battle. Knowing the outcome of these battles to come, I'm glad they are taking their time to get to these big moments.
I've found most of it boring. Season one wasn't exactly action packed, but was far better written and structured than this season. I enjoyed season 1 very much, where as this one - nope.
This season had a couple of episodes that I called boring. They felt like filler. But overall, this season has been good.

I don't think episode 8's finale is going to be the battle of the gullet. The setup I'm seeing is for the taking of King's Landing. In episode 7, Larys Strong says to Grand Maester Orwyle that Aegon "will not rest again for some time". I think this is setting up the evacuation of Aegon by Larys upon the taking of the Red Keep. Larys already knows what's going to happen because (in my opinion) he's a double agent who is letting it happen or even aiding and abetting the Blacks.
Remember how in episode 7 Larys conveniently seems to have "missed" the news of Seasmoke having a new rider; something that should be considered important news for Aemond. To the point that Ironrod is the one who gets this information first, apparently. On top of that, Larys then dismisses this intelligence because of its source(s) and explicitly tells Ironrod not to tell Aemond. From the scene with Ulf the White and Silverwing at the end of episode 7, it's clear that Aemond has been completely kept in the dark about the Red Sowing.
TL;DR: the whole of episode 7 is setting up the taking of King's Landing, not the Battle of the Gullet

I’m not sure if anyone else commented it but I’ve heard other interpretations of the dragon with holes in it wings at the end of the trailer being Sheepstealer. I also don’t really think it looks like what Vhagar has been shown to look like; her neck is much thicker without looking as long.
