RIP Louie Anderson. This version is the reason why Family Feud is still even on the air.
It's still on the air because Steve Harvey gave the show a MAJOR boost in popularity. The first 7 years were awful.

@@emanueljackson1728 The show has aired consistently since 1999. If it hadn't been for the revival of the show that began with Louie Anderson, Steve Harvey would have to find another venue to do his lame faux outrage schtick every time he hears innuendo.
@@m4sterbr0s Because of the show's great formula. They should have never added the Bullseye round in 1992. The one thing the 1999 revival had going fot it was the show's strong classic format. Except for that lousy one strike 5th round. There's nothing to brag about the show being around when it had even worse ratings than Combs Bullseye-era Feud. The market changed with more people having cable and a variety of channels to choose from. The 1999 revival never had strong numbers until Steve Harvey came along.
@@bfsgman The show has aired consistently because of it classic iconic gameplay. The TV market changed by the 1999 revival and ratings that killed Combs Feud in syndication would actually get a renewal in the 1999 revival's era. It it did get cancelled they would just bring Family Feud back in a couple of years. Since Family Feud first hit the air in 1976 it has only missed 6 TV seasons. That's 3 years between cancellations.

I'm not gonna lie, two months ago I looked up to see if Louie was even still alive. He was a good host for Feud and a pretty funny comedian.
He was actually a stalwart on the terrible game show Funny You Should Ask.

They kinda messed up the format with getting away from the 300pt rule, but other than that, this was a pretty good format. If they had instituted the tiebreaker rule sooner, I think Louie’s version would have been much better.
I just saw the news of his passing. So sad he succumbed to his battle with lymphoma. I remember coming home from elementary school and watching this come on mid-afternoon. RIP Louie Anderson 🙏🏻

Not only was Louie Anderson just Cuddly Cute, but QUICK with the comedy. Truly, he was precious -- and I'll miss just knowing we were even alive in the same world. Louis Anderson as Christine Baskets is one of the greatest comic sketches of all time.

Louie did return Family Feud in 2017, in one of the episode of Celebrity Family Feud.
I grew watching the Anderson version of Family Feud he was one the best of host underrated hands down. In fact, he was the one that increased the Fast Money prize from $10,000 to $20,000. He will be dearly missed. R.I.H. Louie Anderson

I still think $20K is cheap, I mean this was after "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" was already on the air. But I'm with you on Louie. Second only to Richard Dawson.

Louie Anderson was the host that launched the second generation of "Family Feud" that exists to this day.
On the other hand, it could be because his run was kept out of syndication
for the longest time due to an insider controversy that you didn't know of it.

Growing up, I never missed an episode of Life With Louie or Louie's version of Family Feud. While many game show connoisseurs label Louie as the worst host in Family Feud history, I disagree - Louie had me laughing during his tenure as host. Rest In Peace, Louie.

I remember playing the Family Feud on the PlayStation 1 with Louie Anderson as the host. One of the better hosts in game show history. RIP🙏

You know, BUZZR needs to do a tribute to Louie Anderson, a marathon of him hosting Family Feud, and I think it's time for BUZZR to start airing Louie Anderson's era of the Family Feud.
They have aired the Louie Anderson Family Feud on BUZZR before, but I know it has aired on GSN in November 2013 as part of a Family Feud Thanksgiving marathon. I think GSN and BUZZR should do a Louie Anderson tribute as well.

Yep, as soon as the Quitrals got the #1 answer on the last question they were guaranteed a win if they just immediately struck out. Later on in Anderson’s tenure some families with lopsided leads did just that.
Behold, Family Feud's awkward years. That time when a company known as Pearson thought they could produce game shows. Their version of Card Sharks, which aired in 2001, was even worse.
The fact that this version of the show still airs today, albeit after three host changes to the absolute meme machine that is Steve Harvey, shows that sometimes, you DO get a second chance to make a good first impression.

Wow I never saw this version of the Feud before. Love the creative intro. This is back when game shows had standards for their contestants. I love Steve Harvey but the quality of the show and contestants has really deteriorated.
First Ray Combes, then Richard Dawson, now Louie Anderson! At least Steve Harvey is still alive, just like John O'Hurley and Richard Karn.

My only real knock on this version was they didn't play to 300 points . The one strike rule is interesting .
I mean no disrespect, but I'm surprised Louie lived as long as he did. Even in the late 90's/early 2000's. He looked like he was struggling to move and breathe. And he obviously gained weight between the first and second season on his time on Feud.
