Dolphins, just like people, even come as introverts and extroverts. They choose their own adventure.

I remember when i saw them for the first time and swam next to them, side by side. I cried when I came out from a water....It was huge experience. Now I'm trying to find them back and see them again.

My mom took me to swim with the dolphins when I was around 4yo. I was instructed to use one hand on the dorsal, as two hands caused the trained animals to sound ( dive).
Well, terrified me, with both hands on the dorsal fin......😅😅

I literally was in prayer in my garage after loving on my pup, and thought about dolphins.
Then, I open up TH-cam, and here this beautiful documentary is.

They also can experience depression heavy through loss, and sad events, which is one of the only animals that do that, as well.

I don't know, what would you do? We know what you would say because you just did when you posted your comment. Maybe just let nature do what it does best when humans aren't involved- whatever it wants. Try to imagine this world without any people, zero, none. How would the natural world look? Pretty ok I would think. But that's not real. So now what? It's a conundrum I'm not confident any mortal man can resolve. The heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it? Those the words of one wiser than I.

15:30 yes. Contingency checking involves an animal, upon seeing themselves in a mirror. "... pigs went around the barrier and found the bowl in just twenty-three seconds, on average, showing that they could learn to use a mirror ..." I wonder that they really have not self awarness. really? Seems pigs show some level of understanding of mirrors, they haven't demonstrably passed the mirror mark test

Seems your tone is a bit judgmental. I have only swum with dolphins once. It was in Sea World. I had a sense of camaraderie with the beasts. As a diagnostic radiologist, I was working maybe 20 hours on a typical day. Of course, that pace will kill you by the time you are in your mid-fifties. I'm pretty rugged and managed to escape with my life. So far as I could say, the dolphins were just doing their job, and like me getting paid Ok. While I was dealing with patients whose diseases put me at risk, they were protected from sharks, propeller strikes and storms. So, we were both all right. Well, the only behavior and interaction was they set up a couple of teams of instructors many yards apart. We tourists waited in line until we got a chance for a ride. The drill was to approach the dolphin on the right. Then with your left hand, hold onto the base of its dorsal fin, with your right hand at the base of its right flipper. Then the animal would take a leisurely cruise to the other instructors, where you got off. While I settled in, the dolphin was as still as a chair. But when I was ready, it took off well over twice as fast as it had with any of the others. We were soon at the dismount place, where it rolled onto its right side, twisted downward and sent me flying through the air. I landed laughing. The dolphin had sensed that I couldn't be hurt, was quite unafraid, and it was just deviling me. I hadn't been teased as cleverly since my big brother used to do it. Now decades later, I still miss my friend. I suspect he misses me, but such is life above and below the surface.

There's no mistaking that dolphins live for the applause. Whether or not that has lead to documented stress, I couldn't say. However there is something to the prospect of sanctuary. Injured or orphaned creatures are deserving of our sympathy and it is in our interests as territorial/sovereign beings to provide an outlet for people who would be enthusiastic to serve in that capacity. I.e designing and operating facilities which cover a wide range of rehabilitate services for animals
A Zoo, yeah it might be run by a schiester, but I mean it could have started out with exceptionally good intentions. And just so happens to become set in its ways over time. I don't think that should be cause for banning facilities outright. Perhaps some regulations are in order. Which you don't get when the population doesn't account for this dynamic as a priority to social development
