  • The different dolphin species living in the waters surrounding New Zealand have all evolved unique strategies to survive in their habitats. Whether it’s dusky dolphins off the Kaikoura Peninsula, bottlenose dolphins in the majestic Fiordland, Hector’s dolphins in the Banks Peninsula, or common dolphins off the North Island, the dolphin's ability to pass on knowledge within a pod is paramount for every aspect of these remarkable animals' lives.

This was wonderful- so much beauty and very uplifting as well. The narrator had a lovely appreciation for the wonderful presence and importance of these beings. Thank-you- thematic was often quite delightful as we.. thank-you so very much.

The dusky dolphins look very much like the Pacific white-sided dolphins I met at Campbell River, British Columbia. They are so pretty, and look like upturned boats when they chase after you in the waves!

Must be amazing being a dolphin or whale. You're always around family and friends who have your back. I bet they don't get depressed or suffer from bipolar disorder.

Dolphins and porpoises are part of the toothed whale family.
