During the VIP sound check in San Diego (7/22), blink tested out She's Out of Her Mind. Didn't end up playing it during the show itself, but this was rad nonetheless.
I hate hearing backing tracks in every other song. This band needs a fourth member playing guitar, even if it's just in the shadow, but it needs to happen.
The production on California makes it virtually impossible to replicate live, which is why I can accept using backing tracks for some of the songs...the thing I can't accept is when the backing track is the lead guitar. I understand Matt's been having trouble playing Tom's riffs, which is why he added the U2 part on Always (which is pretty ironic imo) and subs in octaves for songs like Violence and Carousel...but c'mon, Matt supposedly "wrote" the riff at the end of this song right? Why the fuck is he still playing the rhythm guitar??!!
+Vil Sunnington well, California is overproduced, which is never a good sign. I can understand using backing tracks for piano parts like in I miss you or Down. But on the rest? come on dude, add another player, it would sound a lot better!!! I also agree Matt needs to learn how to properly play the songs Tom wrote, but he should also never use a backing tracks for leading guitars he wrote himself... It pisses me off a lot.
He's never sung that high. He's only singing high because it sounds good with matts voice. Marks voice sounded good with toms but now that matts in he has to go up in range which he simply can't do
This is a great sound check for she’s out of her mind too both Mark and Matt are vocally amazing hear and the whole band musically but to be fair I expect nothing less than awesome from Travis it’s the other two that concern me sometimes instrumentally
Think you will find most bands use some kind of backing tracks in their live performances. As Dylan said there are more vocals on the LP and would sound dull.
I agree that it seems too high for Mark but they use backing tracks (or playback) that have been recorded on this key so they can't really change it unless they record them again
hahah tem alguém fazendo riffs em uma guitarra escondido, que palha! igual fazem com os teclados. muito palha, gravar pra vender e não conseguem tocar ao vivo. aposto que o tom nunca colocou guitarrista escondido pra fazer riff.
2:07 I also do that when I sing the song to myself. Now I don't feel so bad.
Haha, same.
exactly what i'm doing
what bhappened at :207
Matt forgot it was the interlude and started screaming 'oh yeah' then stopped abruptly xD
and that is why they have sound check and rehearsals.
happens to ever one lol
I love how Travis gets so into the music even in a sound check. He's the best!
1:12 mark's like I'll let the backing track take care of it
oh my god! my favorite song in album. i hope they make official video for this song
They did
Skiba sounds so good
We were there, sick concert. Travis son playing the drums at the end was cool to see as well.
I was there! Got one of Matts Picks
the best song

I thought they used to have an additional guitar player for some times? I'm not sure tho.
+Tony Nur Rahman nah they've never used another guitar player.
+Daniel W that'd be straight up awesome! i hope tom comes back one day

wow..we live in a world where blink uses backing tracks....
they have been using backing tracks since '09
@@TheBlinkguy They have been using tracks since 03
i dont know what mark uses as warmin up exercises for his voice but he seems to struggle a lot with high notes
He's never sung that high. He's only singing high because it sounds good with matts voice. Marks voice sounded good with toms but now that matts in he has to go up in range which he simply can't do
what are you even talking about, he struggles to hit the notes he recorded for the album
+bbarrera86 Yes exactly. He sang higher than he usually does in "California" because it went better with Matts voice
i'm pretty sure i could find other songs from previous records where he struggles live
One reason plus 44 failed Mark couldnt carry it by himself.
This is a great sound check for she’s out of her mind too both Mark and Matt are vocally amazing hear and the whole band musically but to be fair I expect nothing less than awesome from Travis it’s the other two that concern me sometimes instrumentally
i actually fucking love matt
Might be time for them to tune to Eb so mark can sing
Mark's sounding great!
are you tone deaf?
he's sounding great, if we compare this with other live videos
+Eugênia Bochehin look at 2:32 they are using vocal backing tracks :-/
Think you will find most bands use some kind of backing tracks in their live performances. As Dylan said there are more vocals on the LP and would sound dull.
The guitar at 2:18 sounds so much cooler live
mark just can't pull it off, why don't they do like any other normal band and tune this song and bored to death one step down?
cuz it would sound even shittier, I hate when bands change the song's key.
+Hey! It's Me! I know, man, but Mark has been struggling to sing high notes for the last 4-5 years and the new songs are entirely in high notes
I agree that it seems too high for Mark but they use backing tracks (or playback) that have been recorded on this key so they can't really change it unless they record them again
where in the song did mark sound bad? the only part i could think of is the bridge? other than that he sounded great!
At this rate we will end up asking Matt to sing every single song in the album.... Well (Mark), I guess this is growing up!
I still think this song is the best song blink-182 did with Matt skiba she’s out of her mind is a great song
Ohhh guyss,,i love this song!!
it's rare live for my fav song in this album
what type of camera did you use?
Using my phone for this. Google Nexus 6P.
rad rad song!
Lookup "Blink soundcheck 1996"
I was right there in front of mark during this! Good time!
I recognized you there and at Sombrero couldn't quite think of from where though now i remember!
haha thats so cool! Sombrero was great!
Do you like Matt
I have VIP too, what time should I get there for soundcheck and photos
hey hey hey heeey!
What is the process for getting into the Feeling This VIP, I have a Bored to Death VIP and I'm trying to sneak into the photo op? lmao
nice
woooooooooooooow
was the $400 worth it? or should I just buy myself a new xbox
el que canta es tom o es otro?
idiot its matt skiba
1995 blonde tom traveled in time
wooo Matt has a mistake xD
hahah tem alguém fazendo riffs em uma guitarra escondido, que palha! igual fazem com os teclados. muito palha, gravar pra vender e não conseguem tocar ao vivo. aposto que o tom nunca colocou guitarrista escondido pra fazer riff.
Without Travis they are very very very poor as sound and tunes:(. Love them but it’s a pain to hear them live ...
I’m sorry but this is pretty bad. This can’t be blink 182. Not the band I grew up with it. RIP blink 182:/
too many background tracks..(bac vocals n guitars licks)..pretty disappointing
oh my god! my favorite song in album. i hope they make official video for this song
I still think that this song is the best song blink-182 did with Matt skiba she’s out of her mind is a great song
