    Scout with 1143cc (Not the Scout 60!) engine with dual overhead cams and higher redline, at 100hp and 72 lbft torque, is quicker. It will do 0-60 in 3.7 sec in skillful hands.

      @@MastroAdventures well, fair point because Rebel's have.......HISTORICALLY.....been about as un-rebellious as they get.
      I'm guessing however, that their reputation is going to change over time because these 1100s are quite bad ass and only the blind and stupid will refuse to notice.

      Horsepower doesn't mean shit for 0-60. Torque and torque to weight ratio is what gives you faster 0-60. Horsepower is for top end

    Shift at 7000+ RPMs on the Scout, not 4000.

  • @Busker90
    @Busker90 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Indian/Polaris knows how to build motors. The Scout would rev to atleast 10,000 rpm if you removed the limiter and let them. Probably not a good idea to set it higher than 8800 with stock internals but this bike is screaming to be revved. These bikes come alive AFTER 4500 rpm and will keep pulling beyond the factory redline of 8100. Shift later. Like WAY LATER.

    Good video man. I rode my Scout like that when I was learning it.🤣 Goosing those things with the stock seat is pretty risky cuz it's so easy to slip off. Good way to build grip strength tho. Lol learning the shift points takes time since the gears are so long.

    the scout can do 0-60 in about ~4.3 seconds. Have to be more aggressive and rev it up more at the start and keep it high in the revs (4000+), the engine runs more like a sport bike than a cruiser.

    A lot of comments on torque vs hp … hp is simply a calculation of torque vs rpm, when you see torque figures given without reference to rpm it’s not a very useful metric. An engine making 40ft/lbs of torque at 10,000rpm is making a crap load more horsepower than an engine making 60ft/lbs at 2,000rpm. The engine making 40ft/lbs at 10,000rpm would be making more than triple the horsepower compared to the engine making 60ft/lbs at 2,000rpm at those reference points. In generic terms an engine making higher torque low in the rpm range basically means it’s hitting its peak hp lower in the rpm range at the sacrifice of potential higher peak hp at a higher rpm range. It’s obviously way more complicated with stroke vs bore, rotational mass, scavenging, frictional loss, induction/valving etc etc etc but Torque x rpm divided by 5252 = hp. You’ll notice on a dyno graph that the torque and hp figures cross each other at 5252 rpm’s…

    Youre riding that scout wrong as hell. stock, for the average rider it should hit 60 realistically around 4.6 give or take. With my tune and intake without an exhaust upgrade and on stock tires im hitting 60 in 3.7-4 flat on average, and Im not even great at launching. can stretch 2nd gear out pretty long too.
