“If your arms are 1/5 the size of Jimmy’s and you’re doing 150lbs, you have a technique issue” - so true. This channel is outstanding. Thanks for the focus on form and science.
I am suing Dr. Mike. I took your advice on back training, and got a super wide thick back. One day I was waking in the wilderness, and a drug cartel forced me at gunpoint to lay face down. They needed a place to land their cargo plane full of drugs. And because of my wide thick back they picked me to land their plane on. Now I live in fear of the police coming to arrest me for my part in the crime.
I'm really impressed by how much this dude said thank you after each set and after each question. Gratitude is positive force for good in your life. This dude gets it
Such a trip to see Jimmy on here. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jimmy while working at a gym here in Scottsdale Arizona, and he’s every bit of humble and polite in person that you see here!! Such a great dude, and he works his ass off. Great video boys 💪
I used to work and manage a supplement store in phoenix and went to all the EOS fitness gyms in that area i remeber meeting jimmy and his crew of lifters. Hes a genuinely good guy and is every bit as humble and kind as you would expect. A great young man with an incredible work ethic.
What I find super interesting is the most impressive people on these RP training videos are also always the ones most interesting in learning, asking questions and trying new things... Lots to be learnt from that in itself.
One of the best athletes I have had the pleasure of training with and learning from in the last 4 years . overall great human being and proud to call him a brother and a mentor keep an eye out for Jimmy in the future , one of the craziest work ethic’s I’ve seen
I've watched approximately 4,742 of these RP vids, & Jimmy is easily my favorite guest/victim. As so many others have commented, his manners & no-tears toughness was a freaking joy to behold, & toss in that the kid is o-natural, inarguably the best that RP has ever had on. He really does look like he's juicing, so why would he ever start? Please don't ever start that crap Jimmy, when you find your limit, or age finds it for you, take it like the man you are & keep moving. Just say no...thank you, because you have manners.

I am thankful to have found such information. It has been 6 months that I have been using the mechanical drop sets. I have gotten much stronger and wider or bigger. I am getting many compliments. Thanks guys. I Loved this challenge
Just being able to pull all the way up with chest to the bar is extremely hard. Then with the full hanging stretch. Really good stuff. I really enjoy this channel,👍💪
Watching Dr Mike train people always gets me extremely pumped for the gym. I have just placed my order for custom versa gripps hoping they are as good as they are said to be. I will be sure to use them at every opportunity to find out.
Some people are just soo humble and so teachable its crazy. I love my initial idea when I was younger that black belts would walk around with their arms out and their chest puffed up when honestly thats usually the furthest thing from the truth
I don't lift impressive weights on any movements so I got a nice ego boost seeing that I actually barbell row comparably well to this beast of a powerlifter. I'll thank my rock climbing specialization of favoring overhung routes for that back pulling strength.
jimmy is such a warrior though, physical strenght is not so hard to build but the mental fortitude to push through those evil harder variations he earned my follow with that workout
great video! I would be interested to see if you guys do a comparison between what a set looks like at the beginning of the meso vs going to failure at the end? just to compare visually since we get to see a bunch of vids like those with Jen going beast mode. shout out to Jimmy for putting up with the humbling RP experience
I like the take on true potential and staying natural. Your potential is not defined by drugs. Drugs are just something you stack on top. I personally don't see the appeal of drugs, if not to become Mr olympia. Much more, i think it's exiting to actually see what your body itself is capable of, and even more to become stronger and stronger by only your own efforts.
Jimmy is amazing as well as Mike and Jared (shalom my brother) he is also one of the most coachable and goal driven athletes that move and excel like a machine, physical robot! And I’m rt with him. No excuse for failure and no cheating myself with form, weight, execution. Seeing others train like that is awesome. Most of the time I’m surrounded by people f$&@in around holding up equipment while on their phones between pathetic sets of ego and bravado amidst flexing to themselves in the mirror 😂
Dr. Mike, how do you feel about weighted stretches at the end of a pull up/pull down set as an intensity technique? John Meadows used to recommend a partner assisted stretch on pull downs by pushing down on the weight stack during the eccentric and then holding that stretch for 10-30 seconds at the end of the set.
Discovered this channel recently! Great no bs info! So I did dead lifts and unfortunately injured my back in the process, but was wondering if there some exercises that can help to recover? Thank you!
Buy the Signature series Belt Squat attachment for under $200. It's a lever you attach to a power rack. I got one 6 months ago and love it on days my lower back is too sore to do high bar squats.
With the new hypertrophy app, do you have the flexibility that is easy to customize my workout schedule according to my example? Starting at 3 days a week then gradually increase the days per week frequency as I progress. Here is an example of Mesocycle 1 I would like to follow: 1. Week 1-2: Begin by working out for 3 days a week. 2. Week 3-4: Increase the frequency to 4 or 5 days a week. 3. Week 5-6: Add an additional day to workout routine, making it 5 or 6 days a week. 4. Week 7: 3 day a week for deload.
I love this dude's attitude! we should all organize a fundraiser for that turkey trip for doctor mike! i know a doctor over there than can fix hairlines.
It's hard to believe but with some blessed genetics and hard work since he was five it's certainly possible. The guy was lifting 40lb rice bags up and down stairs when he was 5. He has nothing to hide or anything to gain by saying he's natural.
Quick question; when you had Jimmy do BB rows, the part where he did isometric contractions at the top and basically focused on the top 'shortened' part of the ROM...doesn't that go against the literature on lengthened partials and what Mike discussed recently on the Revive Stronger podcast regarding distal vs peripheral hypertrophy? I'd guess focusing on that part of the ROM like Jimmy did with the empty bar would promote more 'peripheral' hypertrophy which Mike said in the podcast isn't really desired?
Good question. And why is it that Dr. Mike is just telling us about this? Been working my back for a year and a half and I just hear about this part of it. No wonder my back has no bumpy muscles. I do have lats and scaps but that's it.
I don't know what Dr. Mike said in that podcast but I believe the bar only row was to just burn the inner mid traps and rhomboids and build up metabolites that way. That isn't a partial exercise, just a finisher movement to completely tire out a muscle.
It's not so much focusing on the end, as it alleviates the weight restriction that would hinder that last bit of flexion and allowing the elbows to go back just that tiny bit more. And it still contained a stretch under tension and full contractio
