Akane and Kanami...on 🔥🔥🔥!!! Miku (red rose) and Saiki (blue rose) are the vocalist. Miku, second lead, backing vocals, rhythm guitar, main lyricist and band founder, was the original lead signer...but after a couple of live performance, realized her voice was not where she envisioned the sound being for the hard rocking sound of Band-Maid. So with the label management, looked for another lead vocalist. Enter Saiki...deeper and more powerful of a voice. Miku's pop voice matched well with Saiki. Miku actually has a wider range than Saiki. Miku does have songs she sings lead. Sayonakidori, Rock in Me, Time to name a few. Then normally combine a Miku song or two in their full Okyu-ji ("servings" what they call their live shows) with an instrumental or two before their 3rd MC. Originally to give Saiki a vocal break. Saiki had trouble with her voice and needed the well deserved breaks. But, she opted for surgery to take care of some polyps on her vocal cords and with the recovery and new vocal training, her voice is more powerful and most importantly, healthy than ever. It really doesn't seem she "needs" the break as she used to, but the Miku song and instrumental is part of their setlist for shows. PO! 🕊 🤘😆🤘
As for the Maid Battle Armor (MBA), there were only two times that I'm aware of that they've not used them. The first was on December 25th or 2021. Still under lockdown, they did a Christmas Acoustic show as a present for the Masters and Princesses (what they call their fans). And they wore "normal" clothes with a color scheme of light brown, tans and red. Colors they felt was aligned with reindeer and Christmas. Fantastic show, where they played with all five members and then did small group breakouts for some of the songs. There are two songs on their Official YT page from that concert. "Sayonakidori" Acoustic Official Live Video, with Miku singing lead. Joining her as trio, Akane on drums, who as an added present sang the backing vocals, and MISA on bass. Then there is "Catharsis" Acoustic Official Live Video, with all 5 members. If you want to watch these, I suggest you hear the full electronic version first, and then watch these to see how they rearranged the song. It really is impressive.
The second time they were out of their MBA..."Bestie" OMV. They opted out of their MBA for what we all called their Angel Battle Armor. The change up probably has to do with the fact this is a collaboration song. Mike Einzinger from Incubus co-wrote the song with the Maids, lyrics by Miku. They opened for Incubus in Japan on 5/1/24 and played this song at a live concert for the first time that night. Mikey-chan came out and played this song with the Maids. Later, after the concert, the OMV was released on YT and Mikey-chan watch the YT premier with the Maids. They were rocking the MBA that night...and all their Okyu-ji since the release of the "Bestie" still have them in the latest version of their MBA. Wow, that was a lot...good bathroom material...😂
