I like the chill vibe on this video and how concise it is. Thanks for going to Cannes for us. I just couldn’t make it so I appreciate you carrying the heavy load of going to France and watching movies. (Grin)

Thanks for all of the Cannes reviews!
Although it’s great to see Sean Baker’s, Jacque Audiard and so many other deserving people honored, I’m particularly happy that Jesse Plemons is finally getting the recognition he deserves. From The Master to so many other great dramatic and comedic turns, he’s really developed into a superb actor.

All We Imagine As Light and The Seed of The Sacred Fig are REALLY good! I also liked Black Dog and Caught By The Tides, and of course Anora and The Substance :)

3:41 the assistant from Tar literally directed a movie where there's a running gag where she farts a lot.

Idk if Universal Language portrays it different but there definitely is not a "large" Persian/Iranian population in Winnipeg, I'm pretty sure it is less than 1%. Winnipeg is more known for having the largest Indigenous population of any city in Canada and unfortunately its very high amount of violent crime (especially murder).

PLEASE do yourself a favour and go watch Paul Schrader's "Oh Canada" as soon as it's out. It seems like the movie just went over the head of most critic who gave it bad reviews. After seeing the film I find the quality of the criticism by some of the critics to be really shameful. It seems like they didn't even try to understand the film.
It's a beautiful script, the film is formally interesting and it really expects you to reflect on what you see and put some effort into the experience. The theme of death is evident but what strikes me is how it comments on the importance of the stories we tell about ourselfs - to others and even to ourselfs. And how when death comes knocking on the door it can feel like we created a fictional character and nobody, not even the people we love, truly knows us. I was soooo surprised by how good this was and I will keep thinking about it for weeks to come. Easily one of the most interesting and challenging films I've seen in the 2020s so far. Chapeau to Paul and his team, I am so grateful that I got to experience it on the big screen.

  • @dollarsaurus01

This is a genuine question that isn’t meant to be combative in any way, but how is it that you guys are able to attend this festival each year? Cannes is an extremely exclusive event that is mostly inaccessible to the general public. To my knowledge attending requires an invitation, or being a member of the press or some kind of industry news or media outlet, or being directly involved with the films that are screening

Cannes is exhausting. Staying there for the whole time to watch everything is a challenge. The major reviewers get to watch films way before the festival.

Huh? You failed to explain the big head-scratcher: why the rush to hightail it out of Cannes and miss two of the most lauded films of the festival? Obviously, you couldn't have known beforehand, but why beat (inexplicably) such a hasty retreat? You couldn't have stayed put for another day or two? Thanks for the other reviews, though.
