Welcome to my Exclusive Review of the Altan Bottier Roc in Autumn Leaves Patina.
A Wholecut Oxford with a Norwegian Construction Made in Italy and handpainted by some of the Patina Masters of this heritage French Shoemaker.
It has a full Norwegian Construction with a leather sole and a great finish, all that for $1250 which is a very fair price for such a high end shoe.
You can buy the Roc in the Altan Bottier Website and even customize the color.
I would like to kindly thank Altan Bottier for sending me this pair for a Review and I can confirm that I received any monetary compensation and the shoes were sent back to Altan Bottier after the Review.

Love the color, love the norwegian stitch.
Never considered them to be honest but they look like a solid shoe.
It was indeed :)
Fascinating shoes. There's quite a difference between the upper and the sole. Interesting contrast. But beautifully made.
The difference is the construction really and it’s an aesthetic choice, but interesting nonetheless!
Excellent review. I happen to have been in contact with Pierre too when ordering my sneakers from them. Live the looks of the shoes. Looking forward to receiving them. And keep up that “bad” humour. Your laugh is addictive 😀
Thanks for watching! They are definitely nice people to work with!
Well presented review. like the patina. Reminds me of Bontoni. Appropriate shoes for winters and the cobble stone streets. Aside from the waist being a little chunky, the heels also could have been a little more shaped and not so block like. Overall a handsome and rugged looking pair of shoes.
I agree with you overall it was a very good job!
Thank you for another great review.
🙌
Thanks for sharing this video about Altan Bottier as it is also on my radar. When thinking about French shoes, colorful patina is the first thing popping up in my mind. However, I am at my late 40 and gradually not interested in fancy colors any more. I try to figure out what else they provide as compared to Paolo Scafora. Looks like "The Roc" is indeed their iconic model. But whole cut oxford is so "standard" for every brand and I could not make up my mind to get another one. I guess I will try their shoes when looking for exotic leather shoes. Since you have reached French shoes region, will you be interested in checking out "Corthay"? 😄
Hi Stanley, you can always opt for a uniform color or a shoe without a Norwegian stitch. Corthay is not on my radar as it is too expensive for what it offers and I don’t find them so appealing. I doubt they would send me a pair of shoes anyways.
Altan bottier seems like a solid french brand, a bit too chunky for me with the norwegian stitch, but theres always a place in my heart for designs that include it. hope youll eventually review other french brands, they seem to be popping up all around my feed. stuff like finsbury for example ive yet to see anyone review seriously :)
I have reviewed most of them by now. The only ones missing are really Aubercy (working on it), Corthay (I am not going to spend money on this) and J.M. Weston. Paraboot and co are not my style unfortunately. Finsbury is made by a Portuguese famous brand.
@@MisiuAcademy oh really? is it the same formula as septieme largeur where they make it in portugal/spain and essentially sell it in france? because the site is in french and it never mentioned portugal oddly enough
Finsbury if I remember right is made by Carlos santos. Septieme largeur is made in Spain and hand painted in France. Caulaincourt is France, Italy, England, Spain (essentially where they can get best construction for a style). Altan is similar to septieme I think but they also use Italy for higher end. The finishing is done in house.
@@MisiuAcademy oh then finsbury is carlos santos? no wonder they look fairly decent for the price, i bet its nowhere near the handgrade line and maybe at best the regular goodyear one then.
That’s if I remember right, but yes pretty much!
Nice shoes and will definitely check it out.
On a side note , what is the closet color on your website that is similar to this one ? Is it the florest shadow or the Bosco?
Probably Florest Shadow!
Hi may I ask if Norwegian stitch has to be that light brown. Will it be nice in other colours?
You can dye the stitch to your preference.
Why you never review Church shoes? Would love to hear your take
Church’s are sub-par, overpriced shoes managed by a disgusting company (Prada) who has defiled everything the original Church’s stood for. I have no intention of spending my money on them. If you can, get some vintage Church’s before 2009 or so. There are far better brands for the money. No wonder the OG owners don’t want anything to do with them and now work with Cheaney.
LOL!!
