Ava, Missouri's Doc Gentry retires after 59 years, from 1988.

His dad was a doctor, so he became a doctor in Douglas County, MO. He had his office in Ava, MO but he made thousands of house calls to attend to baby deliveries, injury, old age and all kinds of sicknesses. 'Doc' Gentry retired after 59 years serving the citizens of the area. I caught up with him in March 1988. Besides all the memories of him and his dad, "Doc" was honored to have a roadside park named in his memory on Hwy 5 a few miles north of Ava.
