      grapple feat
      +advantage grapplre
      +advantage on range attacks
-?? it says use your action to grapple again to pin greature. So it takes whole action and you can't take extra attack action??
      -your speed is 0
      -your attacks have disadvantage
      -attacks against you have advantage
      Grapple + shove
      +You can move half speed
+Enemy is proned and can't end it because grappled
      -range attacks have disadvantage
Both give advantage on attacks against the target.
Both lilit the targets speed to 0
both give disadvantage onnattack rolls against the target
Pinned winning the grapple can still move 30ft
Prone has to spend half of it steep to stand up
that is so far what I have found after looking in to grappler feat for 2 weeks ^_^ still if you know how RAW go on the action I would like to know.
So why west a feat unoess you want advantage? just rage~ it gives you advantage, recless attack does not RAW :^) and rolling 20 is notninsta succes in grappler nor shove RAW (rules as written)
      Have a great evening ^_^/)

I would kindly like to plop in a cool chip of info here.
Keenmind is excellent for wizards... mostly if and when you loose your book you're still good to go for a month because you can recall it all in flawless detail. Also can help you make a new book.

    • @flingage
      @flingage 4 ปีที่แล้ว +63

Shiiiit now I'm going to make one broken-ass wizard. Damn I can't believe I didn't think of that.
Hell you could literally leave your spellbook behind for any adventure you know will take less than a month, and never risk losing it.
The only possible problem would be if you end up gaining a level (and thus one or more spell slots) on that adventure.
Just bring an extra, blank 'scratchbook' maybe?

If your campain has wizard get rogue to sneak and get the book for you, skim it from front to finish and stop on all pages where there is gibrish and later copy the spell ^_^

    • @xezzee
      @xezzee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@SaviorOfNirn yeah... but you only need it for enough time to read the pages, then you can return the book....
Times when you can use these is if enemy is wizard you can "I wont kill him/her" and then you take the spellbook if it is with him/her and read the book :D
Having Paladin/Cleric/Bard cast zone of truth is important so they tell where the book is if not with them a n d if it is protected by some kind of trap that will destroy the spell book ^_^ few ways DM can work around keen mind -> wizard don't have to carry the spell book with them :D

Which you probably will never be able to see , so it becomes almost worthless unless you are in a really large open field or flying very high (and the DM will likely start throwing flying creatures at you). A 20 x 20 room, a 100ft corridor, a fairly thick forest, the underdark, ya know the locations where 99% of encounters take place, ya not useful to spend an entire build on.

Resilient is very useful for casters other than sorcerers because concentration checks are Con saves. For higher-level characters (for example, if you maxed out your spellcasting stat before choosing a feat), the proficiency bonus is better than the advantage that War Caster gives.

I took Keen Mind because our game features a lot of caves and areas where the characters’ sense of time is screwed with, magically and otherwise. I knew we’d only been in a cave for an hour and a half, but because of the nature of the cave, the rest of the party thought we’d been down there for hours or even a day or two. Sentinel + pole arm mastery = opportunity attack on entering a range with reach that stops them in their track outside of their reach. Allowing you to attack for free then move 5 feet away without disengaging cause you aren’t in their reach.
The only time someone can actually get close enough to attack is bows spells Spears or if your opportunity attack misses or your reaction is spent from you protecting your allies.
AKA, use a spear the way a spear is actually meant to be used and make melee attacks against you so rare that as long as all ranged targets are focused. You will never get hurt ever.

Whats fun is me and a few nerds found that if you hit a wall or anything can cause huge dmg. Since m*v=P=F*delta t. And since lets say you hit a wall so the time the force is applyed over is super small. 80kg monk going 1125ft/s -> 343m/s = 27440kgm/s. Thats your momentum. 27440=F* assumed .6 seconds -> 4574N of force on impact. Thats 1027 pounds of force hitting said solid object. Perspective : the average car going 30mph hitting a wall is only about 500 pounds of force. This speed build isnt even min maxed

Oh also @Caleb M 5e feats are terribly unimpactful compared to 3.5/PF. Yes, the worst feats are worse but nobody takes those. In the most measurable sense, in 3.5/PF a decent feat multiplies your damage by 1.3-1.5; a good one doubles it. And that level of "good' is still applicable for other effects; Improved Initiative is alright, but you can get +6-+8 from Noble Scion, or +2 and a better animal companion from Psicrystal Affinity/+4/+2 and a familiar from Familiar Bond/Obtain Familiar, etc.

      • When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.
Last I checked, Misty Step is a spell. If he is within 5f of you and casts Misty Step, you can use your reaction to slap him.

Shield Master is a feat I’ve really taken a liking to. Sure it’s kinda like a poor man’s Evasion, but for a Fighter or a Paladin who potentially already have a super high AC, you now have a defense against your biggest weakness of AoE attacks. Plus you can literally emulate all those pictures of the knight blocking dragon fire with his shield and that’s cool as shit.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised when Great Weapons Master was listed as "meh" here when it is literally the #1 feat on top 10 lists for all the most famous D&D channels on TH-cam. I think he skimmed the feats and had never seen it in a game before. Virtually all paladins, fighters, and barbarians automatically take it and having it at level 1 is single handedly why variant humans are more popular than any other race. Even clerics, druids, rangers, bards, and melee spellcasters can use it to great effect because it's so easy to offset the penalty through one of the many ways to get advantage on attack rolls.

Resilient (not "Resiliant") is actually a really great feat for most games. Have a bad score in a common saving throw stat? Well, you get a +1 to that stat and up to a +6 on saving throws with it.

Spell Sniper on a Warlock is great because then I take Eldritch Spear and get a range of 600 feet. But if you really want to screw with people, go Wizard, get Spell Sniper, and take the Lore Master school and Melf's Acid Arrow. Now you can blast people from two miles away, and they take half damage even if you miss.
But Magic Initiate is my favorite for flavor because it basically turns every first-level spell into a feat.

As a dm and a player, I think Keen Mind is one of the best feats.
Because of how it specifies, you don’t know the time of day or what direction is north inherently. As far as I am aware there aren’t rules for even determining the time of day or north. I took it, even when I had a lenient dm because I want to be the character that knows everything. Pair it with changeling and actor and you don’t just look and act like them, you remember every you and anyone else have said and become the perfect spy.

    - grappler: You can shove-to-prone enemy without making yourself restrained, no feat needed. It's good only if you really want enemy to have disadvantage on dex saving throw. Including yourself.
    - Sentinel: The enemy running away part only works against disengage and it was stated it was intended to work that way. Mobile feat, Mantle of Inspiration etc. still allows others to run way without taking AoO. Still an amazing feat.
    - Resilient: Well..... it's good feat if failing it usually harm you more than just whatever was tossed at you. Like concentration for... ESPECIALLY THE WIZARD

I reall love the Inspiring leader feat, and it goes awesome with the Celestial Warlocks level 10 feature.
Starting level 10, after each short rest you party gets 10 temp HP (you get 15) and after the first fight, you just spend 10 minutes to tell everyone that they are awesome and they get another 15 temp HP. Thats 25 extra HP for everyone in your party (30 for you) every short rest. With just a 4 man party size thats more than 100 healing that doesnt need to be done.
And you can repeat it after every short rest.
If you really want to make healers useless, take 3 levels in divine sorcerer next and learn aid, which you then cast before each short rest with your level 5 warlock spell slot for another 20 extra HP, which stack with temp HP because they are not temp but increased maximum.

A little error on the Martial Adept feat. The superiority dice regenerates on a Short or Long rest.
So essentially you can get a ton of mileage out of it depending on how often your DM lets you short rest. Plus, more damage is always nice, and Maneuvers are especially good for peeps who want to provide more utility for their allies, they can just take a Maneuver that says "When you hit with a weapon attack" that has an immediate effect so that they don't have to worry about the target saving against it and essentially nullifying that one cool thing they could do until the next Short/Long rest.

Did a little bit of my own math for funsies on the mobile feet. 70X2X2X2 (Base movement, haste, boots of speed, feline agilty) is ONE MOVE ACTION, which gives you 560 feet. Taking the dash action for another X2 gives you 1120, but that is not AS fast as you can go, because bonus actions exist. Monks can dash as a bonus action, but it requires resources, so lets say for the sake of argument that our kitty cat monk took two levels in rogue for the cunning action ability, allowing them to dash as a bonus action for free. This bumps the first 6 seconds of movement to 1680 feet. About a third of a mile. BUT, haste lasts for a minute, and the boots of speed last for 10. You lose one of your 2X multipliers from needing to not move for a round to get feline agility back, but lets assume we don't do that till the stun hits from dropping Haste. We're down to 280 feet per move action, so 840 feet per round. 9 Rounds of that give you 7560 feet of movement.... about 1.42 miles. Add the first six seconds, and you get exactly 1.75 miles in one minute. After the haste drops and you're stunned for 6 seconds. During this time you get your feline agility back for another 840 feet of movement, which drops to 420 thereafter. After that you've still got about 8 minutes and 54 seconds worth of that speed. So for the next 89 rounds, give or take, you're moving 37380 feet before your boots of speed run out. Another 7.08 miles, give or take. Plus the initial 1.75 gives you about 8.83 miles traveled in ten minutes, 60 minutes per hour, and you've got a total average speed of about 53 miles per hour. Not quite as insane sounding as what it would be if you could sustain that initial 1680 number for the whole 10 minutes, but averaging highways speeds on bare feet is something to be commended.
