1000 island lakes is truly the most beautiful scenery so far. 🤩🥾🥾
Another great video! There views are unreal!
Spectacular views today!!! Thanks for sharing...
Really gorgeous today. You two are great narrators - I look forward to your videos ever day!
Love your attitude. Can’t say enough about how that makes your hike easier.
One of my favorite stretches of the PCT
Ansel Adams Wilderness is so amazing. Thousand Islands Lake was my first solo hike I did after my heart bypass op in 2009. Got an epic reflection photo there of Banner Peak. Can’t believe you guys are already to Yosemite. Keep on truckin! 😊
Did a section of JMT several years ago in July and this area was phenomenal! I’m reliving my trek there thru your vids. Thanks a bunch. Yall rock! Hike on☮️
Nydiver Lakes is one of the best spots I've seen in the Sierra. Link it up with Iceberg and Cecile and Minaret Lakes, but I wouldn't expect through hikers to make up to any of these. Banner and Ritter never disappoint. No matter which way you go! Happy Trails Marg and Zoo!
Ahhh the sierras are always so stunning 😍
@ 7:50 That's Shadow Lake (and Shadow Creek cascading down the slope), along the John Muir Trail. North of there it crosses the outlet of Garnet Lake before reaching 1,000 Island Lake 🙂
@ 12:37 That's Banner Peak, that you first saw from Silver Pass 🙂. I hope you were able to watch the sunrise the next day. It's one of the "classic" views in the Sierra Nevada (imo) 🙂
One of my favorite places in the Sierra. Thousand Island Lake with the majestic Banner above it.
Just a tip you might consider when crossing on a log that is smooth and round. Try side stepping, that is putting your boots crosswise on the log. It is little slower but in my experience a little safer than the boot forward because you have a lot more boot on the log. I love this stretch of the Sierras, my favorite part and have many weeks in the Minarets in general.
It is one of my favorite destinations and also many, many other people’s favorites so best camp sites are hard to snag later in summer. My best trip was a winter ski backpacking trip from Yosemite to Mammoth and back to Yosemite Valley. You are heading to my favorite in a day or two; I worked nine summers in Tuolumne Meadows and loved every minute
👍👍nice video, thank you for sharing this and your other PCT videos.. My aunt & uncle moved to Bishop in the Mid 60’s, so I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have hiked the Sierras for 50 yrs. First time hiking on the John Muir Trail was in 1974, last time was 2022, and going back again this July🤙
What a view! Enjoy!😊
Great views today. Thanks for taking us along! 😊
Once again stunning views. Enjoy your evening by the lake. 😊
Outrageously amazing and beautiful views!
Great view. Those poor hikers plugging along in the green tunnel (AT) just don’t know what they’re missing. Perfect example is the mountain and river zoom in at 12:36. That image could be framed and sold. The only problem with catching trout from a lake at thaw out is the fish are so skinny. Very little to eat most of the winter months. Fall they are big and fat.
So enjoying your journey. Thanks for sharing. I’ll be on the JMT NOBO later this summer. I hiked to 1000 island lakes at 13 with my parents from devils post pile. Out and back in one day with an apple and 1/2 pb and j. Looking forward after 50 years for that redo.
On my 2 Sierra transits, I hiked both the PCT & the JMT route to 1000 Island Lakes. Very different views. 👏. Seems like ur emotional states are good. I’m sure it varies. Mine does.
Thanks 🙏
Great views. I'll be doing the JMT route from Agnew Meadows to Yosemite in August. The beautiful little lake (shadow lake) will be part of the route. I can't wait for it...
Wow. Still a lot of snow around the lake. None in June of 2014 or 16.
My plan is to hike Agnew meadows to 1000 lake in mid July. Thanks for the preview.
That was Shadow Lake across the canyon. There's a trail that descends down that rock face to the River Trail. It's a shame that the guy screwed up on where he dropped you off. The High Trail has some nice views, but the JMT has the view of Banner and Ritter behind Garnet Lake that is awesome. I guess I'm not a "purist" but I see no reason not to take the parallel JMT from Reds to 1000 Island Lake
Thank you for your amazing footage. I assume you used quilts, what temperature rating did you use going through all that snow? Thank you and good luck to you!
You’ve got the cheeseburger birds chirping. :)
This is by no means a knock on y'all, but the JMT route through this section is more scenic. For the non-purists I'd heartily recommend it.
No way
The PCT high route has better views
The SHR is back there by Shadow
@@larkangel6593 I’m partial to seeing Rosalie, Shadow, and Garnet up close and personal 😎.
@@campoljatothat's beauty of the area
You've got multiple parallel trails, multiple trailheads, and public transit options
It's a breeze to hike from Mammoth to Yosemite (or vice versa), either by trail or X-country
Bomber that 1k island lake is still snow covered. Otherwise, banner peak reflection is what it's all about. Too much snow still.
Are you dealing with the mosquitoes yet?
