One of the major reasons I wouldn’t consider this is that they do not have the thumbsticks in the PlayStation style that Ive been using all my life. The company is the one short handing themselves by only producing the Xbox style variant.
Art, thanks for another great suggestion. Just received it, and i was wondering what's your deazone inputs inside the game ? Especially for the left stick min , right stick min and for the left and right trigger .
This pad not only fixes sensor stick drift with hall effect sensors, but also loosened spring stick drift. It's mechanical solution to the latter is quite ingenious, look up VK's videos on Apex 4.
Bad ass review Art! I’m glad you were able to join the scene! Hope you’re able to be successful in this gaming world. I’ve been looking for a new controller to get out of the Xbox elite. Hope to see more gaming tech reviews soon. I’d love to see monitor suggestions too! Hope to see some big name sponsors. You deserve it!
I've been using this controller for a few months, and it's insanely good. The slightly lower priced Vader 3 Pro is also VERY good, especially for the price.
@@imsteadyjoe Ngl I'm curious to try the apex later on for the 1000 hz but I think I'll be alright with 500 hz for now. I'm currently using the scuf envision pro and despite some of what he showed I still feel like it's an amazing controller.
The numbers I'm seeing in this video are making so much more sense now. I've been using a Scuf Envision controller and I couldn't figure out why I would have to try 2-3 times to get my character to start plating. The software crashes all the time mid-game so I'm left without any back paddles rendering me useless. I love the design of the Envision and until seeing this video I thought it was all in my head that it felt so sluggish and inconsistent in game.
Had my scuf reflex thumbsticks upgraded to Hall effect pro sticks and stick drift is a thing of the past, literally future proofed and whenever there’s any sign of them losing their centre, there’s a procedure to calibrate them. I run 0 dead zone in call of duty with zero issues and has completely transformed my play style. Highly recommend
For about a 1/3 of the price, I got the GameSir G7 SE wired controller and found a world of difference. Thank you for the introduction to this controller. I may just have to upgrade for the joystick tension alone! Your time, efforts, and sharing this with us all are greatly appreciated.
The gamesir g7 se is so good for the price I also put 2 screws on the back of the triggers and it gave me a trigger lock such an easy mod for a better experience, but I also have the apex 4 and wow I totally recommend it
I just want a controller with Xbox elite padels, scuf mouse click buttons, flydigi analog sticks and a 1000hz polling rate - is that too much to ask for??
I just ordered one of these to try for myself. My PC controller experience so far has been: Xbox Elite 2: awesome feeling controller but super laggy and inaccurate in game. Victrix Gambit: Low latency - Definitely Snappy - but cheap feeling over all - especially the sticks and back buttons. Scuf Envision - Extra buttons are awesome but iCue is buggy and crashes often. I had to redeem my warranty because my first one bricked thanks to firmware updates. Scuf sent me a new one but it definitely feels slow but not as slow as my Elite 2. Great Ergonomics though. Love the way it melts into my hands. Flydigi Apex 4: We'll SEE!
@@1SlyGuy great question. I went back to my Scuf envision after a couple weeks because i missed the sax buttons and feeling of the grip. The scuf envision started to lag and randomly shut down. I went back to the Digifly about 3 weeks ago and will never look back. It’s just so damn responsive and premium.
I have friends currently in a nightmare dealing with Aim Controllers over how awful their Hall effects controllers are. Hopefully these don’t have the same issues.
What would be a really big controller changer is if there was some way to prevent your charger port from shorting out. That was the biggest thing i hated about wireless and wired controllers was worrying about if the cord was gonna break or the port was gonna get messed up
Has anyone had issues getting used to the button position on these vs buttons that let you keep all 4 fingers on buttons? That's the one thing keeping my from pulling the trigger on this.
The only thing I’m really worried about is if I ever get custom controller it won’t feel the same to my default PS5 controller, and they’re very experience and I play on 3, 3 dead zone, and what if they ain’t there and I have to get used to a different dead zone?
Yo I had the same issue with the envision. The sticks were just off on them. I simply couldn’t get used to it. I just couldn’t make the micro adjustments, they felt cheap like you said.
My Turtle Beach controller sucks bad. Left bumper is dead, sticks get stuck causing drift slightly but there, and it totally disconnects from its wireless base causing me to not be able to play until reset the base. If I plug it in hard wired when this happens it still doesn’t work. So hopefully this one is way better.
I have a question, I see in all the reviews the input latency being praised of this controller, but on the gamepadle website, the cable latency for the flydigi apex4 appears to be twice as high as the dual sense. Is this correct? What are your thoughts on that? Because when I see youtubers testing with xinput, the flydigi apex4 scores better every time?
I hope to see an explanation to this as well. This is the only thing preventing me from buying this controller. Especially considering he supposedly used their software in his some of his testing.
I use the Gamesir G7 SE that has Hall effect sticks on my xbox ss. Excellent controller and great value for money, has definitely improved my game play over the Series elite 2.
This is gonna be perfect for me. I'm just diving into PC gaming from Mobile and after buying a bunch of mouse and key gear I find out a controller is what I really need.
Missed one of the nicest parts of the software: On-Board Macros! I have two of my back paddles mapped for my Souls flasks on the dpad! Y+DpadLeft and Y+DpadRight, one-click heal without taking your thumb off the stick. But seriously, best controller I've found, and I've been searching for a looong time.
Buyer beware - Got my Apex 4 on Saturday, playing with it for about an hour and it's broken already on Sunday. The left stick has broken a piece of plastic on the mechanism. Not an isolated incident, one guy on reddit is on his third.
The joystick tension feature is insane, but the lack of trigger stop is kind of sad. hope they had it with the apex 5. Cause the feature is on the flydiji Vader 3 pro . that cost less but they don't have joystick tension setting. So could be a nice choice to for people with a lower budget, and still has hall effect joystick =)
Thanks Art for the controller recommendation. Just bought the controller. Just got one question, How do I fix the tension of the joystick to be neutral (I.e. linear with no tuning whatsoever)
Gulikit controller is the first controller I used with magnet sticks like this.. loved it but had to learn claw as it didn't have back buttons. Magnet sticks with 0 deadzone settings on cod are insanely precise and give you nasty AR shots in ranked modes. If I ever get back into COD I'll order this controller. 💪
Thank you for the video! Interesting info, I am really partial to my xbox elite 2, the paddle placement and the physical trigger stops I really love, the paddle placement fits my finger position perfectly. However I love everything you mentioned about this controller so I'm going to try it out. Concerned about the back buttons/paddles and how they are placed, but maybe once I get it that won't be an issue, but I love the joystick construction, sounds fantastic!
Love the breakdown and review, very in-depth! I do find it funny that a few mention the Xbox style layout, and that it may turn many players off. On PC, Steam specifically, their analytics show the Xbox layout dominates, so would assume the majority would actually love this.
Perfect test! Had/have both ms elite, evil controller,Razer ultimate, ++ Fell in love with Scuf Envision pro, but it became unstable and allmost useless after 2-3 months:-( Ordered Apex 4, and my opinion,The Best controller you can get! I ordered mine from AliExpress. Took less than a week to get shipped to the UK. Only paid £64 for it. I've had a Dualsense edge and an Elite Series 2 in the past. This controller is easily the best controller out of the 3 and makes you realise just how overpriced the other controllers are.
I took the risk and bought my on Ali express for 70 dollars and it came in two days ago with about a week and a half of shipping and everything works as expected not even damage to the box it came in

I have a Vader 3 Pro.. the Apex looks legit and I know the Vader 3 Pro only has 500hz poll rate but I love it tbh. I heard the Vader Pro 3 is better than the regular Vader and it works great. I was so sick of getting expensive/custom controllers spending a bag on them and getting drift months after owning it. Only DS4 I would get now is from HYPR, they are the 1st company putting HE sticks in the DS4 to where they're already installed and you don't have to do it yourself and then they come with BattleBeaver style back buttons/mouse click face buttons and trigger stops you can even choose placement of back buttons.
they have a issue rn though if you update to their current firmware it bricks the controller so if you have it do not update the firmware to the current version
Does anyone else miss the side action buttons from envision? I use it to dive so i can pull shoot off roofs. I also use it for ping. Any work around on this one?
I'm using the apex4 controller. The first time I held and used it, I immediately sold the PS5 controller in a few days :)). Apex 4 is really worth buying if anyone can afford it and experiencing what I said will not disappoint you. Once you play with the apex4 controller, you won't want to use anything else
Considerably cheaper option is the Flydigi Vader 3 pro It doesn't have some of the most advanced features, but it is also excellent, and about half the price.
Been using an Elite 2 (horrible, I know) for almost 3 years and while it’s actually held up well I’ve recently been looking at the options from Scuf and BB. It was concerning how many stories people had about controllers that broke quickly or showed up with problems and took forever to be replaced (especially with the price tags). I’ve seen this controller mentioned before, but the Scuf and BB chokehold is so strong that people quickly laugh off the idea of a comparable option being available at such a low cost. Coming from the elite 2, keeping the Xbox layout and adjustable stick tension is going to be quite nice. Without the Hall effect sticks or adjustable tension it seems from your tests that this still outperforms the big guys, those bonuses and the price (almost 1/3 of an envision pro with no customization shipped to Canada) make it seem like a no brainer really. Thanks for the great video Art!
Scuf is good imo iv had 4 and they all still working impact fps is my favorite layout but I'm about to get the envision pro while it's on sale they fixed the software now so hopefully it'll be good they have white ones for 150 I don't like white but fuck it ya know
@@Roweyy Main issue with xbox controllers (including the elites) is they're locked to 125hz polling rate. If you look at the tests and comparisons art did, there's a substantial gap between the Apex 4 and Envision, but if you were to compare the Envision to the Elite 2 it would be an even wider gap, putting the apex 4 miles ahead of it. Compared to one test in Arts vid, your avg latency of the Apex 4 is .96ms, Envision is 2.05ms, and my Elite 2 tests at 7.95ms.
I’m grateful for this review. I’m gonna give it a try for sure. Seems like the controller I’ve been looking for, not sure if the paddles will work for me as I hold my controller in a very specific way but I do see people are making custom paddles for these for 20$ so may give those a try if needed. Thanks for the vid
Yea i dont touch my envision anymore honestly they need to get rid of icue and collaborate with a new software or make there own because the controller is just amazing especially for us ps5 controller users
Great review and even better controller.....Nice !! Quick question.....If I'm using it on my Xbox Series--X, how do I Re-Map the Buttons, does it work on the console like the original microsoft elite series 2 or do I need to plug it into my p.c any time I want to map buttons ??? Thanks in Advance for Any Help / Info !!
Just ordered on AliExpress. Half the price of many of the well known companys. I bought the IEM Supernova, but i need a mic for it. Any tips of what to buy?
I spent 169 for an Apex 4 because of a different video. First controller wouldnt charge out of the box. 2nd controller had the worst drift ive ever seen. Third charged and worked, but only for about 5 minutes before it would just disconnect and shut off. To be fair customer support was great, and they sent replacements with no issues. Even gave me a refund before i sent the the last controller back. Hopefully not many other people had the issues i had.
@ArtisWar yeah I just saw there was 2 versions. The regular vader and the vader pro. Wasn't sure which one you had received lol.I think ali had both. Lol
Appreciate the video man i am always feeling like im getting bad latency from somewhere idk if its my pc or monitor, controller, internet, or just my head just one question was the testing for the envision done before or after the software update? Hope you have a good night tho thank ya again
Mine broke and lasted only 4 days lol, was messing with stick tension a lil, left stick was loose but not that much, and it completely broke, I'm trying to get it returned right now. The controller itself is sick, but well, I'm going back to aimcontroller 😂 If you want any tips, just don't put stick tension too loose or too tight
finally an Xbox layout controller with good paddle placement and low latency. thank you for this! i think you might've just convinced everyone watching this video to buy this masterpiece of a controller lol
Love your videos! Have you done any testing on full system latency of controllers compared to Mice? My expectation would be that the results should be within 1ms. However when I do a similar test to you and record my screen at 240fps I get drastically slower system latency on controller vs mouse. I measure controller to be around 40ms on my system (10 frames), but my mouse has a latency of 20ms (5 frames). Any idea why/how the mouse could be 20ms faster than controller? This difference seems significant. (I've done most of my testing with my Envision Pro)
Purchased! Tired of sending in my Elite 2 controllers to be fixed every 6 months or so. Sure hope I like it like you do. Thanks for the thorough video.
I must have $4000 worth of old controllers lying around. From SCUF to Battle Beaver to Xbox Elite to Astro C40 to PS5 controller to Thrustmaster controller and then back to SCUF. Most of these I have had several iterations of and they always fail, most of them within 6 months. I used to have a box of SCUF paddles lying around in case one of them broke mid-match and I had to change it out real quick. A few of these controllers were promising, like the Thrustmaster the Xbox Elite, and even the Astros, but they all seem to have little issues that made me drop them for something else over time. I really hope this controller is the trick. I do like some of the features highlighted like the ability to put tension on your thumb controls. I am currently using a SCUF instinct which I swore I would never buy another SCUF if that tells you anything. I've had it for about 4 months and it's already starting to act weird putting in inputs that I am not inputting. I think the cable is starting to wear where it plugs into the controller. Not many companies pay enough attention to that very important area. If you play wired like me then eventually where the wire plugs into the controller will start to get loose from moving around all the time and start to cause intermittent signal losses. Thrustmaster did that really well as their Eswap X pro had a proprietary plug that was virtually impossible to wear out. It was by far my favorite controller but their thumb modules started losing connection somehow. You can swap out the entire module for the thumbsticks or the Dpad and move them around where you want, which is awesome, but eventually, they started just doing things on their own with no input from me as well. So then I had a box of modules that replaced my box of SCUF paddles so when one started acting wonky I would swap it for another one which started to happen too often. That pushed me back to SCUF. I really hope this controller works out. I'm 52 and pretty much retired now and not ready to quit gaming LOL>
Halleffect sticks can still get drift albeit not as common but can definitely still happen also halleffects If not calibrated properly will preform worse then normal sticks just depends on the company
Was hoping to see how it compares to the xbox elite 2. It also has the option to set the tension on the sticks, I really like the controller and a bit of stickdrift does not bother me but the bumpers do “break” or wear out a lot.. Might try this but the back button placement does not look comfortable for me at all, as I really like the paddles of the elite2.
When you do the custom calibration on the thumbsticks does that change the gamepad itself or just the programming on the pc? I play mostly on IPAD and am wondering if I can still fine tune all these adjustments.

My gulikit kk3 max back paddle is starting to stick. Great ergonomics and love everything else. Wish they'd make a kk4 with better paddles.
they have a issue rn though if you update to their current firmware it bricks the controller so if you have it do not update the firmware to the current version
Another reason to buy it a week ago I got mine from Amazon same-day shipping ordered it got it three hours later on sale for 130
Does anyone else miss the side action buttons from envision? I use it to dive so i can pull shoot off roofs. I also use it for ping. Any work around on this one?
I'm using the apex4 controller. The first time I held and used it, I immediately sold the PS5 controller in a few days :)). Apex 4 is really worth buying if anyone can afford it and experiencing what I said will not disappoint you. Once you play with the apex4 controller, you won't want to use anything else
THIS THIS THIS!
Did you have paddles on the ps5 controller? I use a scuf reflex fps with 4 paddles and was curious about the paddle placement difference
@@killshot3331 The two paddles closest to my hand press easily and fit my hand. It depends on how long or short your arm is, I can't say that exactly
@@gedxavier876 Okay cool yeah I’m sure they’ll just take some time adjusting to as well as the Xbox layout. Thanks
the deadzone of magnets are way higher than regular sticks, it will feel unsmooth

@@ArtisWar its true lol
@@gazify4058 you were supposed to to reply with a source :)
Plenty of automotive sensors are Hall effect and are very sensitive. I can’t speak for this controller but the technology is long proven.
Apex4 gave me stick drift last week in ready or not. It lasted for days and now it stopped.
Considerably cheaper option is the Flydigi Vader 3 pro
It doesn't have some of the most advanced features, but it is also excellent, and about half the price.
Is it legal to play in Warzone tournaments?
Scuf is good imo iv had 4 and they all still working impact fps is my favorite layout but I'm about to get the envision pro while it's on sale they fixed the software now so hopefully it'll be good they have white ones for 150 I don't like white but fuck it ya know
I know more ppl have had issues with Scuf than not. Not saying Scuf's can't last, but it's luck of the draw, which isn't worth it.
Envision pro is good, but unfortunately after 3 months my thumbsticks suffer stick drift. I'm thinking to buy this one. @@timmypowers5926
What is bad about the elite2?
Im in love with the Razer Wolver ultimate controller. I wonder how that one compares?
Great review and even better controller.....Nice !!
Quick question.....If I'm using it on my Xbox Series--X, how do I Re-Map the Buttons, does it work on the console like the original microsoft elite series 2 or do I need to plug it into my p.c any time I want to map buttons ???
Thanks in Advance for Any Help / Info !!
Just ordered on AliExpress. Half the price of many of the well known companys.
I bought the IEM Supernova, but i need a mic for it. Any tips of what to buy?
I’ve been using it for 2 months! My jam!!!!
Adaptive triggers and Haptic feedback?
think im goin to try this out. any accessories for it that you have tried and recommend?
I spent 169 for an Apex 4 because of a different video. First controller wouldnt charge out of the box. 2nd controller had the worst drift ive ever seen. Third charged and worked, but only for about 5 minutes before it would just disconnect and shut off. To be fair customer support was great, and they sent replacements with no issues. Even gave me a refund before i sent the the last controller back. Hopefully not many other people had the issues i had.
think pushing through the triggers would damage the magnets overtime?
Did you test the vader 3 or the vader 3 pro? Just was curious? Thx
I did, mentioned it in the video and didn't like the feel as much as this. Apex 4 is MUCH more precise feeling.
@@ArtisWar Was it the Vader 3 pro you tested?
@ArtisWar yeah I just saw there was 2 versions. The regular vader and the vader pro. Wasn't sure which one you had received lol.I think ali had both. Lol
I use the vader 3 Pro and it feels incredible for such a cheap price
According to Amazon, this model doesn’t t have Hall effect sticks but the Vader 3 pro does. I’m confused. Help. Lol.
The controller itself is sick, but well, I'm going back to aimcontroller 😂
If you want any tips, just don't put stick tension too loose or too tight
What’s your thoughts on the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller? I like the paddle positions on the Elite.
Best part is you can easily find this for less than $150 which is a steel for a pro controller like this
finally an Xbox layout controller with good paddle placement and low latency. thank you for this! i think you might've just convinced everyone watching this video to buy this masterpiece of a controller lol

I haven't done this but @truegamedata has for MW2!
Looks solid but I absolutely need actual mouse click triggers. Hopefully they come out with a version like that in the future.
I think you'd be surprised by how good the trigger stops are actually.
Vader 3 pro is the one for you bro.
Can you make a review on BEITONG Zeus 2 Elite controller
Purchased! Tired of sending in my Elite 2 controllers to be fixed every 6 months or so. Sure hope I like it like you do. Thanks for the thorough video.
Same. Bumper always went out.
The back buttons on the elite are top tier though, I just did the same 🫡
where did you get it from i cant find it on amazon :(

I'm looking at this one as my Elite Series 2 RB has gone out (2nd controller that's failed this way!)
When you do the custom calibration on the thumbsticks does that change the gamepad itself or just the programming on the pc? I play mostly on IPAD and am wondering if I can still fine tune all these adjustments.
