Gcam consistent and overall dynamic range wins without all the extra lenses. Bias much, was on a Samsung j7 pro before recently switching to 3a XL. Find the Snapdragon 670 quite efficient and snappy in processing images despite not having the core and missing out on a wide angle on the front cam. Enjoyed your reviews kinda helped in my decision to switch and not bother with installing unstable gcam apks on other android choices.
Own it! Love it! Pics are just amazing. Night mode - wooolaaa! no one can beat Pixel 3a night mode, it can even pull in light in 10% visibility and the outcome is flawless... I moved from Galaxy Edge 6 after 3yrs, which served me right and loved the experience. But Pixel 3a is just another things, be it the stock Andriod or the camera... I am surprised why the sales have not gone high for a $399 phone... C'mon people, end your search and get your Pixel 3a!

Completely disagree. Check out the night mode video at 8:40. Samsung is too dark to make out the details of the truck, while Pixel 3a shows all the details.
8:09 In video mode and good light the Pixel 3a is slightly blurred but in lower lighting levels it's much blurrier, particularly while panning; though it's stabilization seems a fair bit better, at the cost of double imaging. Samsung needs some *secret sauce* to improve its cameras.
#Phandroid I simply love the #Pixel's *point-and-shoot* capabilities and its *night mode* photography. I myself is still using the *Pixel 2XL.* But what takes it out of the ballpark is the *Samsung S10+* video capabilities. I just upgraded from the 2XL to the #S10+ actually. I think the *S10+* is just simply better at videos. I also love its *wide angle* photography mode. And its Dynamic AMOLED screen is bar none *the best!* (I've never tried the 3a/3aXL but I'm assuming its cameras would be comparable to the 2XL/3/3XL since they basically have the same sensors and AI software.)

3a makes people look really good in photos. S10 was slightly better at objects and scenery sometimes. But 3a overall is a better photo camera. S10 better video for sure.
im loving my oneplus 7 but dissapointed with the camera I honestly think galaxy s10 pictures look better and that wide angle camera takes very nice pictures. Camera is the One Plus downfall. I have the 6T. Amazing phone. And I mean amazing. But the dam camera.... Same follows the 7Pro, even after the updates.

I use the S10+ as my daily and the 3a XL as my backup. The 3a takes better portrait photos than my S10 to be honest. The S10 does more & has more features. Both are very good cameras. Videos are better with the S10, super steady mode works great. Very much enjoy using both. The computational photography works well on the 3a, it's kinda unmatched. Very good review!
Photos should have a more natural look to me so I much prefer the muted more natural colors of the pixel 3a as opposed to some of the more saturated shots from the S10+.

Look at 3:11 or 4:16 or 5:24 or 7:15 with the Galaxy front camera the picture is flipped. Both Pixel 3a and Galaxy S10+ make great pictures. The Pixel is slightly better in my opinion, and definitely much cheaper. I own one, I was afraid because some people had trouble with bugs, but in my case all is ok.

Also you can really see that the s10 has what they call a “beauty filter” on, where as the pixel is more what you see is what you get. I feel it all comes down to if you want realistic shots/colors or a more punchy edited picture.

Galaxy pics appeared saturated and unrealistic, especially at night. Tiles looked, Rosy-red. However, if you want wide angle shots, Galaxy is the one. If you want nice pics and save about $650, get a pixel
If you shoot 4K/30 fps videos with the Galaxy S10, it produces much less noise and brighter night video quality compared to the 4K/60 fps mode. Not sure why nobody does that comparison yet.
You haven't set up the pixel's video correctly. It can do a lot better than shown here. You can alter the exposure on the fly and some modes work better than others especially regarding focus and sharpness. With some third party apps you can sharpen the video and get very close to the Samsung. The Samsung videos default to great sharpness but maybe more artifacts. The pixel is generally far better at stabilisation and it works much more smoothly if you lock exposure.
That front camera video at the starting from pixel 3a is no match to the Samsung S10+,Samsung is miles ahead against the pixel 3a in terms of selfie camera recording
Incredible cameras. However the video recording (image and sound) is noticeably better on s10+ while the night mode on pixel 3a looks like it's not even night lol (that Incredible). Don't agree with HDR superiority on pixel3a at for video recording, even on TH-cam we can see the superiority of the s10plus (just watch the ground/pavement on the video recording part). I don't understand why the best photophones (pixels and p30pro) are struggling in video recording (however pixels are much better than p30pro in video recording, colours are total fantasies in video recording with p30pro).
S10+ only has more powerful SoC, which enables it to perform complex imaging processings like HDR in real time. Yep, the S10+ performs a multi-frame image-stacking-like processing when recording videos in real time, while the Pixel 3a and P30 Pro don't. If both got the same SoC as the S10+, I'm pretty sure they could be even better than the S10+.
S10 destroyed it on night video, looked lots better on most scenery photos but that fake yellow tint! Damnit Samsung make a natural option as well as your 'vivid' mode And stop smoothing skin and making people look like they have jaundice!
