Hexagonal by design - “roku” (六) is the number six in Japanese. It refers to the six additional Japanese botanicals in the gin. It’s characteristic of a Japanese spirit (in my opinion) in that there are a good lot of flavors, but no one note takes over anything else, and it’s absolutely not heavy; rather, it’s quite subtle and delicate.
I bought a bottle of Roku Gin because the pretty bottle it came in and would look very good on top of my bar shelf. I later discovered the gin was quite good.
I really like Gin Roku. I learned some Japanese when I was in elementary school and I know why they chose the name Roku. Because it means the number 6 in Japanese and they chose the name because of the 6 botanicals that are native to Japan. And that’s also why it comes in that hexagonal shaped bottle. It’s definitely a unique spirit. The Suntory company also makes their own brands of Whiskey and Vodka.
Soft and gentle, was what first came to me in it's taste. In a martini, it's so subtle that you might not think that it has alcohol in it. Very nice in a martini. Here in the states, it's quite affordable. Goes great with a mild cigar. Well worth a try. Nice review Bobby...

Hello! Sorry got a tough question:
If I have to pick one between beefeater 24 and roku and they are both on sale (£23 and £25.5 at the moment) which should I get?
Hi there! It is a touch one as you say but I would go for the beefeater 24. 👍
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 ahhh turned out the beefeater 24 discount isn't available 🙈 I'll keep looking then, meanwhile imma enjoy the roku for the first time :p
Awesome vid :)!!
Thanks Justin Schmidt ! 😊
Complaining about no cork was the first thing I commented on about this gin after I opened it. 😅
Almost bought this in Morrisons the other day.....
Try the Roku Gin with Japaneese Pemium Tonic Water Yuzu (Qyuzu or Jinzu) Tonic with a slice of ginger ... Wow !
Price @ Amazon : 24 €
Roku is definitely all over at bevmo and total wine.
Deco no22 is a great gin a must try
Thanks Shane Gibson
I’ll add it to the list! 👍
Have it with a few slices of ginger next time. 👌🏽
Did he just say Take my top off ?
I am a new gin drinker lol (was a beer-vodka), I have been introudced to this via a German guy, on Xmas day and I can't stop drinking it.....here in Indonesia in a local bar including all duties and costs considering high import duties and a Muslim country it's £40 p/bottle which I think is very reasonable.....enjoying your reviews.
Welcome to my channel Running Farang! 😊😊
Try the gin in the Philippines Ginebra San Miguel
Please test-taste Greater Than Gin from India.
Thanks Shridharan! I’ll add it to the list! 😊😊
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 You're a prompt man Bobby. Thanks from India.
I would like a more standardized tasting for these. I feel like you drowned the gin in the tonic with this one. You have great energy but the gin reviews lose credibility without a standardized pour. Maybe for future videos get a jigger, do 2 oz pour of gin and taste without tonic, and then do 4 oz of tonic. I will try to remember to come back and delete this comment if your newer videos have this already. Thanks!
I thought the exact same thing
