For a low-tech setup this light is a steal! Love the design, and the controller. Much prefer like this way, in the cable, than somewhere in the fixture itself.
I've got the small one of these on my planted Betta 5 gal and he just loves that 24 hour setting. Hunting his bug bites in the floaters while the dawn setting is on is just his favorite time.
Thanks for your review!! I really like these lights I have two myself and they work really well for my low tech planted tanks. I have had one for two years and a newer one I got a couple months ago!! Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a very happy holidays 🎄☃️🙏🌿🐟💚
The reds and the other darker colors work well with my bichirs. The shy ones come out in the darker lights. I got it to cycle once (moving quickly through all the colors), and I’ve never been able to do it again. How did you get the fast cycle? I put it on orange, and it doesn’t work. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Thanks.
Thank you for the review on the light. I just got a new one and they took your advice and put it on the light fixture itself with a small digital screen.
the nice thing about the controls being on a cord is that you could if you were so inclined snip it and slap an arduino on the line and control it with a localhost webpage
I have a 20g regular tank. Planted. I don't know wich is better between hygger full spectrum 18 to 24 inch (14 watts). Or hygger full espectrym 24 to 30 inch (16 watts). The length of tank is just stucked in the middle of these 2 sizes (24 inch). What to choose?
Is the timer function need to set everyday? Can I set the brightness level for timer setting? Is the width for the light the same for all the different length?
Great honest review! I appreciate your veiw Personally I like the switch/length and I steered away from the lights that had controls on the light! The 24/7 works well for me when my kiddos are with me.
Take the question mark off your title - Hygger lights are the shizznit! Haven't even looked at another since I found them, using about 20 in my fishroom right now, amazing plant growth (on my vids) and not looking to replace them with anything else.
My bichirs prefer the colored lights. Some are shy and nocturnal and will only come out “at night.” I’ve trained them that full lights on means feeding time. Once the food is in, I put the light to red and the shy ones will venture out to eat. My problem is that I can’t figure out how to set it in loop mode. That adds additional color, mainly turquoise, which is beautiful. I’ve accidentally set it on loop twice, but couldn’t see how I did that. I set it on orange, and I’ve tried other things. If anyone can answer this, please let me know.
The issue I’ve had with these type of lights with the controls on the power cord is when I hook them up to my Wi-Fi timers they do not come back on when the timer kicks on because they have to be turned on by that control panel
That picture of the actual light with the cord coming out of the light's end highlights wonderfully what I don't like about this light. Mine is an 18 inch HG-999. While I'm an experienced freshwater aquarist of 30+ years (and a Master Gardener) this is my first planted tank. So I painted the rear glass panel of my tank black so as to block some of the light but also to hide the air pump and all the cords so you can't see through the tank and also because that's where the nearest plugin is located. So that cord coming out of the light's end?? I'd rather see that cord come out of the light's interior on the backside edge of the light. That would make it a short, straight shot to the back of my tank and the plugin. Instead now the cord needs to be manually bent to make that sharp 90 degree turn towards the back of my tank so it's constantly pulling on the light. They need to extend the cord from the light to the controller, otherwise the controller is hanging in mid air!! Lengthen that section of the cord while shortening the entire cord by the same amount you lengthened that first section. I'd gladly give up some overall length for a bit more (6 inches is the minimum needed) from the light to the controller so the controller could set beside the air pump behind the tank instead of hanging back there in mid air. That's my only complaint with this light (although the instructions could use some improving but I'd be happy with the right cord!!) from the short time I've owned and used it. I look forward to much nicer plants along with the improvement to the overall look of my tank...
Hi just wondering what the dimensions of the tank you tested the light on. Thinking about getting the same light, but not sure wether to get the 30-36in or 36 to 42in. (my tank is about 36.25in).
The one I got a year ago does not stay on dim when put on my wi-fi timer. It always come back on at full blast. Other than that, I agree that it is a nice light, grows basic low-med light plant no problem, I do not have any high light plant. Thanks.
It looked like it had a really good spread, and nice colours. I love playing with lights. I was preparwd to buy one. But they did not chip ti mo Sweden. I can understand that. 😂
what would really blow your mind is how much the led diodes cost per unit. I doubt these units use smasung leds which are the best and run about .08 cents each. Most likely chineese diodes at less than .01 cent each and about another 2 bucks in materials . That light they sell for $50 bucks cost them less than $3 bucks. You want lights for plants then buy lights made for plants. You can literally buy yourself the diodes and make your own light with top end components for pennies on the dollar. They should include a disco ball so your fish can have a rave with that kiddie light. Hygger hasn't told me who makes their diodes yet, I'm still waiting for a response.
One simple piece of advice. Put the full model name of the equipment on the video. I have no idea what model of light from Hygger you are reviewing. Now they have several models and so your review is useless. Your video lives in a time capsule and can be watched two years ago or today or ten years in the future. If you wish to grow your channel information is key. With a model number I would have subscribed but lacking a model number just shows lack of caring and sloppiness by the video maker. The video is almost useless to me, which is a shame because you did a great job otherwise.
Hello friend, I wonder if there is an opportunity to cooperate with you, although I know the probability of reply is extremely small, but there is a chance I still want to try, I want to invite you to take an unboxing video of our products

they have an even newer model, looks exactly the same, but the push button dongle is a digital screen which is a little easier to use
Link?
How good is the sunrise and sunset mode? Does the light actually mimic a sunrise and sunset?
I recall the lumens and other specs were different? I could be wrong.

The on off and brightness settings are all that I would use. Good review thanks Tom👍🏻
They are great lights!
I love the fast cycle of lights. So pretty! I keep bichirs, so they prefer dark lights.

I just purchased these lights and the discount code helped big-time..so just have to wait. Thanks Tom

Hey Tom thanks for sharing the youtube channel Below waters this is exactly the kind of videos I love to watch so again Tom thank you
I bought the same model of thia hygger led. Appreciate your time to reviews this nice product 👍🏻😊 cheers!
I have several of these lights and LOVE them!!! (from SW Minn. :))

Should the light bar itself touch both ends or is it better to hve it smaller and use the side extenders ?
What wifi timer do you use? Can this light turn on automatically everyday without having to hit the buttons every day? If yes, how does it work?

Hi good afternoon, what size hygger light I will need for 75 gallon planted tank?

Have you been able to use this light with your external timers, and if so does it recall your settings or does simply come back on at 100%?
The issue I’ve had with these type of lights with the controls on the power cord is when I hook them up to my Wi-Fi timers they do not come back on when the timer kicks on because they have to be turned on by that control panel
That is good information to know, thanks for sharing. It was what I was wondering myself.
Nice job
Great review Thank you!
Disco for the fish 😂😂😂
Had one; sent it back because the timer doesn't work. Power supply reached over 132f sitting on a wood table. Smelled like it was burning.
Do you have a website where you sell your plecos and corys on? Thanks.

What size did you end up getting? I'm going through the same issue. Pondering if I should get the 26"-30" or 30"-36" for my 29g that measure 30-1/8"
@@kevinhoang1760 I think I got the smaller size and it still fit, the brackets that prop it up expand pretty far
@seanconnolly1897 I think I'll do the same, I don't want to chance it being too long and the legs don't catch. Thank you!

It would nice if you said what model hyger this is
Great video
Hi Tom, where are u getting the ziss breeder box from? I cant find a supplier in the US 😩
Hi,
Check on Aquarium coop
Excellent!!
100% agree on the buttons being on the fixture.
Does the light turn on the low setting with the use of the timer?
when you hit any of the timers on it, is it a one day thing or does it restart every day?
It restarts everyday. Love this light especially the 24/7 setting. My plants seem to as well. Highly recommend.
Is this light good for plants 🌱
Depends on the plant and what spectrum/intensity you need. Ferns prefer shade, corn prefers daylight. Research your plants.

Okay, so how is that light holding up after 9 months?
Great. No complaints.
What model is this?
Nice.
I can send you the link for the new one Tom lol 😂
Link?...

Are you located in Mississippi?

It's the Hygger HG978.
Or you could use the intended timer button like most normal people
just double tape it with velcro
_Anyways_

coco, send me a private message on Instagram. “TM Aquatics”. Or you can email me. My email is located in the description in many of my TH-cam videos.
This model is such trash prefer the new ones with lcd panels this isn’t good enough
I just bought 3 of of these, each one was a failure. You can't program the machine. I will spend the money and buy a Fugal now.
