    Hygger for the win! For aqauarium lighting, there is no need to spend stupid money - these lights are amazing (I am running around 15 atm) . YES THEY GROW AQUATIC PLANTS! The only thing I will say is that the model in this review along with the other sizes of this model are overkill. No one needs that much programmability and it just adds money and complicates things. I recommend the standard 24/7 Hygger lights - nothing is better for the money, or even for more. (If you doubt how well they work check out my fish room)

      "Need" or not, it's nice to be able to adjust the color tone and temperature as it can make the subjective enjoyment of the aquarium higher for people that care enough about it. Or maybe you could blast with a blue hue while you're at work (for plant growth), and bring it down for when you are at home if you think a warmer tone makes the tank look better and increases your enjoyment of it.

      niche counterpoint: my fish used to jump and startle whenever i flicked on my aquarium lights; the gradual cycling is very gentle on my poor fish's eyes 😂

    In just bought this for my 20 gallon long. I just started getting into planted aquariums. Lights are a learning curve for me. I really like that fact that it has a timer. I had to buy timers for my other tanks.

    I purchased this light, well, the 48-inch version. It was a great light at first. Now, a year and a half later, most of the white lights will only function at around 50% power. It's time to look for another one.

    All my lights are Hyggers ( multiple models) they are awesome, resonnably priced, and pretty. But where i live we get frequent power cuts and the lights have to be reset and reprogrammed every time there is one. I bought a UPS for the lights and everything is perfect now.

  • @EuroGupper

    Hygger is affordable but the quality is very good.
    Most importantly the plants grow well and the lighting looks natural
    I bought 1 Hygger light bar 55" and managed to light a 600 liter Oase Highline tank with it after Oase recalled their lights.

    is great for tall aquariums in my opinion. in my 35cm tall tank is kinda burning some plants and washing out their color, i think i prefer dimming in those cases or trying to get a way to rise the height, it would be cool if they added that

      No the programming is absolutely the worst Iv seen on a light. If you can simplify it or explain what I’m doing wrong maybe I’d agree with you but my diy program won’t run correctly, and the plain Jane on and off more won’t ramp up and down like it says it will. I’m about to say screw it and get a fluval 3.0

      @ it’s really simple when programming . I have 3 running currently . Run my lights from 5:30am -12, 12-2:30 off and 2:30-7

      @ hold down the light button at the same time . Then it should say (on or off ) put it in on mode . Then determine the hours you want it on. Be sure to remember that it’s on for pm settings . As when it doesn’t indicate that it’s on A M

    I just bought one from Amazon it has the wrong plug for Australia and I ordered a 3 foot fitting not a 2 foot fitting with a bit of wire each end to make up the difference.
    that's going to go swimming😢 very regulary I am sure when I find a plug to fit it plants will grow.

    A few questions about these Hygger lights that are not specifically mentioned. For some of us putting together a new tank, there are some specific requirements different than an already settled tank.
    Since I am going with a planted tank setup, during the cycling, I need to maintain a 10% light intensity for the majority of the cycle. I would also need to have a light-off mode.
    Can the light spectrum as well as intensity be incorporated as part of the daytime mode, and can moonlight mode be turned off completely?

  • @KentoLeoDragon
    @KentoLeoDragon 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The 10,000 Kelvin you mentioned refers to the blue nighttime light. It doesn't grow anything except maybe a little algae. For plant growing you're stuck with the 6500K day setting.

  • @Fishtaco-xlc

    You have any idea how to set this thing where it will actually run a program? Been 5 days of screwing around and every morning I wake up and my blues are still on and I noticed it doesn’t ramp up or down when changing times on either mode.

    is there a way to turn then on and off manually-i want to by pass the blue lights, and all the other stutuff-and just turn it on and off! i have 2-one at each end- and i want one on constantly -alternating-while the other one if off, and i cant figure it out. i cant get it off 12 hours-how to reset it to start from the beginning...i have a learning disability, so the easiest thing for me is if i can just turn it on and off.....thanks!

    I agree that the elaborate programmability is a bit over the top. I am thinking about buying the 957. I noticed the specs on amazon lists 4 modes with names not mentioned in the user guide. The user guide lists 3 modes the same as described in the video. One thing I would like to be sure of is that I can adjust the intensity of the full spectrum as opposed to each color as described in the diy mode. It appears that this could be done in the manual mode and that the setting would be saved even if the light is turned off. Is this correct? The manual to be honest is not very well done or clear at least to me. Any info would be appreciated.

  • @Tiarpita

    I was hoping that what no one was talking about was how to make the light cycle AUTOMATICALLY through all the colors over and over. Pretty cool effect. Something you might see at a restaurant or bar. I don’t know how I did it and I’ve only been able to duplicate it three times (should have recorded how I did it). Something about hitting the buttons in just the right sequence. Nothing in the manual about it, other than cycling manually. Maybe a fluke.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's probably a combination of buttons that are difficult to replicate. It might be a fluke, but try to remember!

  • @watafumx

    Can it grow red plants? At which max water depth? Can it grow carpeting plants close to the substrate? It would be interesting to know some stats like PAR or lumens. Because some plants can grow in a bucket of water and ambient light. Others require a more intense light to get the right color and height. And some won't propagate horizontally if the light is too weak.

    • @BaadMotorFinger
      @BaadMotorFinger ปีที่แล้ว

      If your tank is 18" tall or less, 2 or 3 of these should give enough par to grow just about anything. I have 4 on my 24" tall 125g and I grow everything. If you tank is under 18" like a 10 or 15g, then 1 is enough

    I have pothos and philodendron coming out of my forty breeder with three goldfish. The plants were all rooted prior in water so it is an easier transition. • @plantlifeproject

      I just meant that the HG 957 has high enough output to grow high light aquarium plants. The light levels are adjustable on the HG 957, Most of the submerged plants I grow are low light but if I wanted to grow higher light plants at some point, I now have a strong enough tank light

      Yes, I’m finding this being the downside to hygger lights. Mine did this after 2 years of operation, the problem is the plug/ power cord.
