I'm upgrading from an iphone 5 to the XR for christmas, and all of these people are saying the XR is bad. I think we can all agree that anything is better than the iPhone 5 though. UPDATE: I have the phone now, and I think it’s great! I don’t really understand why everyone is complaining about it. Also, the camera quality is better than my eyesight 😂
Queen Copyeecat it’s not bad lol. I just got the xr on Black Friday. My brother got the max. The only difference we can tell is the size and the max has a double camera. Apart from that they’re almost the same. The ones saying it sucks are probably still using the iPhone 6 or something

I bought the xr the other day to replace my iPhone 8 and it is hands down the best iPhone I have ever owned. The screen is amazing regardless of what people say about the specs and the battery life if bloody insane. I can get home from work after a heavy day of usage with 50 percent. No phone I have ever owned can do that.
What do you mean what people say about the specs. No chip in any android phone can hold a candle to the A12 in the XR. Yha it may have less Ram but iOS uses a lot less ram so It really makes no difference. People who hate the specs of this phone are just fanboys for android. I do think it's a little pricy but whatever.

XS Max all the way. Closer in size to my 7plus. Also the display on the XR isn’t a big enough improvement over the 7plus to upgrade. The OLED on the XS is really stunning and the whole reason I am upgrading is for the display and not processor/speed/camera etc.

Great point. My advice would be to go with Android (much better value for the $), OR, if you're stuck in the Apple ecosystem, at least wait until the 2019 iPhones are released (prices for 2018 iPhones will come down). Also, Apple may release an SE-2 this year, so if you're OK with a smaller device, BOLO for that.

Sharky165 you brag about specs but truly apple brags about experience and day to day use. The only enjoyment you get is talking about your ram you can’t utilize properly and your phone that messed up the colors so it lookes even worse then the xr.
Before you decide to buy or are quick to judge...DO WHAT I DID: I went to the Apple store and put all three phones (XR, XS, XS Max) together and ran about 6 videos simultaneously. Brightness turned all the way up and True Tone turned off on all 3 devices. The sales associate at the apple store even helped me with this. Honestly...they all looked the same to the naked eye. Most ppl if any wouldn’t even notice the difference. I was surprised how the XR did and in some aspects I thought it did better than the XS Max on certain scenes. The XS and XS Max did look better on the home screen. If you care about build quality, no bezel, 3D Touch and want to brag about having the better phone then buy the XS or XS Max. Build quality doesn’t necessarily matter to me cause I’ll be using a case. The bezel I’ve stopped noticing was even there. To me the size of the XR is perfect. And the battery life is awesome. That’s why I chose the XR.
if you see techsmartt's drop test (XS vs XR) the XR wins . The aluminium frame of the XR is more resistant from scratches rather than the stainless steel frame of the xs. I personally own the XR and i have loved it .
I believe that the processor on the XR is clocked ever so slightly down due to the smaller resolution, which is probably why the Geekbench scores are so similar.
Roshan yeah but over time it makes a difference that’s why the xr doesn’t completely blow the other phones out the water in battery life. It’s just a bit better
The battery life is a beast! I haven’t charged this since last night and woke up and it was at 86%. I’ve used it non-stop for 3 hours straight watching videos and gaming and it’s on 74%. It’s hard to get use to not having to worry about charging it so often when you’re coming from an SE whose battery would only last 30 minutes before it’s screaming for a charge. Lol.

After 7 years of being a samsung galaxy user I switched to apple and i got the black iphone xr and honestly I don’t regret the changed is a solid phone,good size, can hardly tell it only has 3gb of ram,samsung is more customizable but apple just give you what you really need i like it and I recommend it 👍🏼
rubio209 si far nothing,I downloaded all my apps except for 1 “xradio” that’s the only one app that I miss but so far I like the iphone, the bets thing about it no round edges, I’m trying it for six months if don’t like it I will go back to samsung but for now I’m good with it.

I compared the XS and the XR screens in the Apple store. As a middle aged man with so so eye sight, the two screens look identical. No advantage to one vs the other. I'd get the XR happily!

I did the exact same thing. From a gold 8+ to a black Xr. Wanted a change, and the look of a X, and face id. The only regret that I have, and I'm adjusting too is the lack of 3d touch.

After years with Android I dropped my Samsung S8 + at my carrier store and left there with a black XR and let me tell you something: I love it! The reason I changed was because my wife gave me a Samsung Gear Sport for Xmas that was broken out of the box. It has a boot loop issue and guess what? Since my wife both directly from Samsung’s website at Black Friday we couldn’t get our refund for the bad product so we have to claim a warranty repair in something was never used. We got so disappointed. So honest to God we went to our local carrier store and got all my 6 lines upgraded to iPhones. Now our entire family is a happily Apple user. People can say whatever they want about Apple but after the ridiculous treatment we received from Samsung’s customer service we just had enough! And that’s how I end up with the XR and so far has been a surprising wonderful experience!
I prefer the size of the XS max. Coming from plus models for years, the Max is the one to get because videos on 16:9 format is the same as the plus models. Remember that the screen is not really bigger, its just longer on top and bottom so the XR is smaller than a plus model for media files if you don't zoom (and you don"t want to zoom) plus, the battery on the max is already amazing. oh and also here in Canada the price difference between the XR and XS max is not THAT much. The XR is still very expensive.

XR is the way to go. Screen bigger than the 6,7,8s plus but a bit smaller which feels like the perfect since one in hand. Battery is the best, plus comes in custom colors. I’ll be keeping my XR for a long time 😌😌
You sound ridiculous, STOP calling this phone ''BUDGET" it's NOT a budget phone, 2 years ago this price would've gotten you the best that Apple had to offer. But now Apple has cleverly created an ultra-luxury segment with the X, XS, XS Max, and kept the premium segment with the XR. The SE is a budget phone, not the XR it cost almost €900 64g here in the EU. 4 years ago I bought the iPhone 6 64g for €800.
Completely agree. Here in Canada price difference between the 256GB XR and the XS is $360 and $490 for the XS Max, When you are paying more than $1200 CAD for a phone, a couple hundred more for the real flagship one is not that much. So its clearly not a budget phone.

So after about 2 years of use the screen on my 6s cracked. My fault, obviously. I'm now deciding between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone XR, because of course it would be unreasonable to go for another 6s at this point. Had it for 4 days and it was so beautiful ..... the screen and videos were so beautiful but that’s it . The price I wasn’t happy about . The phone was too big couldn’t really put it my pocket because it I was afraid of it falling out lol . Felt so heavy with my extra protective phone case I bought because i was so afraid of breaking the phone . Had the Xr Red 128gb for a week and had to return it for the X. The oled screen and non full HD videos was a deal breaker lol night and day if you watch a lot of content.
One review said that the OLED display on the XS strobes, not so you would notice, but that if you suffer with eye strain that could affect you. I get severe headaches from tube lights and any kind of flickering really affects me. I have the 6S at the moment and when I get a new phone shortly I’ve decided to go for the XR. I’ll avoid the (potential) eye strain, get a better battery, and a bigger but not oversized screen.

I think those who bash the XR are just materialistic, they feel that the XR is inferior simply because it was labeled as a budget iPhone for the X series, I just purchased my XR and I almost got an 11 but I’m so happy with my choice, saved money and the phone just works like a dream. Love the camera(coming from Android), it’s so smooth and the battery holds up so well for so long.
I’d rather have a new iPhone 8 Plus than the xr.... but I love 3D Touch and have to have it...but the xs max is my favorite apple phone by far it’s perfect imo followed by the 8 plus then the x/xs.

People complain about the size and it does take some getting used to but unless people want the XR because of size and color options I wouldn’t recommend it over the Max. J D I don’t really have a reason not too it’s a good phone but comparing the XR and Xs Max the XR doesn’t have 3D Touch and screen quality isn’t as good ... & it’s smaller. The XR and XsMax Are both good options but in my case going from 8plus , the Max made more sense as far as features and size goes.
I was going to get the Max, but once I got in the store and looked at the numbers, I changed my mind. However, I am glad I did. The battery life on this phone is beyond phenomenal! My 6s+ was horrible. I was always charging it. I have gotten over 24 hours on one charge with the XR. The other thing that is a plus, and I know it's been around for awhile is the wireless charging. Not having to buy cables every other week is awesome. I'm very happy with my phone and it's too bad it for such a bad rap. It's a great phone.

Yes it may have a bigger sensor but the one camera on the XR is a 2.2 aperture wide angle lens while on the XS it has the same 2.2 aperture wide angle lens. XS also has an additional telephoto lens
TBH I'm trying to upgrade from my 8+ to an XR just because I love how the XR looks. I've watched SO many videos bashing the XR but for the average consumer, I think it's a great phone
The iPhone XR is amazing! I have the white one and it’s really good! Just like he said, it has a very long battery life and it’s reasonably sized! One of my aunts has the XS Max and my other aunt has the XS, and the differences are small. And for the price difference, this iPhone is way more worth it!

I bought my iphone xr last Dec. 4 and last Dec 12 I suddenly dead black. I tried everything and searched on youtube what to do. Nothing it's totally dead. Went back to where I bought it in Abu Dhabi Dalma Mall and they said wait for 2 weeks. It's brand new and bought it really expensive. 3100 aed I won't recommend anyone for this. Battery was good but it's not worth. Wasted my money and time
my iPhone SE (128 GB) in Space Gray was less than $500 with tax...not tempted to buy any of the new phones; however, among the newer phones, I would have to tend towards the iPhone XR as well, mostly because of the battery life and the "lower," but still IMHO expensive price.
It's a really good phone...the only problem for me and many others is...the size it's just TOO BIG! As an iPhone 6 user I was really excited for the XR but once I held it in my hand I was truly shocked on how big it was, this thing is closer in size to the Plus-models than the normal size iPhone 6,7,8, that most people use like myself! The X & XS are great sizes and closets to the regular size iPhones but I'm not going to pay over a €1100 for a phone NOWAY!

I come home from work with battery between 80-85%, used to come home with 20-25% with my SE.

IPhone XR is faster than the XS because the XR has a lcd screen with the fastest processor vs oled that requires a lot of power

I did the exact same thing. From a gold 8+ to a black Xr. Wanted a change, and the look of a X, and face id. The only regret that I have, and I'm adjusting too is the lack of 3d touch.

After years with Android I dropped my Samsung S8 + at my carrier store and left there with a black XR and let me tell you something: I love it! The reason I changed was because my wife gave me a Samsung Gear Sport for Xmas that was broken out of the box. It has a boot loop issue and guess what? Since my wife both directly from Samsung’s website at Black Friday we couldn’t get our refund for the bad product so we have to claim a warranty repair in something was never used. We got so disappointed. So honest to God we went to our local carrier store and got all my 6 lines upgraded to iPhones. Now our entire family is a happily Apple user. People can say whatever they want about Apple but after the ridiculous treatment we received from Samsung’s customer service we just had enough! And that’s how I end up with the XR and so far has been a surprising wonderful experience!
I dont know but I love my Xs Gold. It’s amazing and beautiful. The size is perfect for me and also those thick bezels are annoying.

I prefer the size of the XS max. Coming from plus models for years, the Max is the one to get because videos on 16:9 format is the same as the plus models. Remember that the screen is not really bigger, its just longer on top and bottom so the XR is smaller than a plus model for media files if you don't zoom (and you don"t want to zoom) plus, the battery on the max is already amazing.
oh and also here in Canada the price difference between the XR and XS max is not THAT much. The XR is still very expensive.
The price difference isn't that much? It's a 48% increase which makes the XS Max $490 more expensive, and that's not including taxes.

XR is the way to go. Screen bigger than the 6,7,8s plus but a bit smaller which feels like the perfect since one in hand. Battery is the best, plus comes in custom colors. I’ll be keeping my XR for a long time 😌😌

But now Apple has cleverly created an ultra-luxury segment with the X, XS, XS Max, and kept the premium segment with the XR. The SE is a budget phone, not the XR it cost almost €900 64g here in the EU. 4 years ago I bought the iPhone 6 64g for €800.
Completely agree. Here in Canada price difference between the 256GB XR and the XS is $360 and $490 for the XS Max, When you are paying more than $1200 CAD for a phone, a couple hundred more for the real flagship one is not that much. So its clearly not a budget phone.

I prefer the lower resolution screen for battery life.
So after about 2 years of use the screen on my 6s cracked. My fault, obviously. I'm now deciding between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone XR, because of course it would be unreasonable to go for another 6s at this point. The XR looks worth the money to me and I think this video might have pushed me over the edge. So yeah, I'll be going for the XR, thanks!

Had it for 4 days and it was so beautiful ..... the screen and videos were so beautiful but that’s it . The price I wasn’t happy about . The phone was too big couldn’t really put it my pocket because it I was afraid of it falling out lol . Felt so heavy with my extra protective phone case I bought because i was so afraid of breaking the phone . I now have the blue iPhone xr and I feel good about spending 750 dollars and knowing I will end up buying another iPhone next yr lol ...

Had the Xr Red 128gb for a week and had to return it for the X. The oled screen and non full HD videos was a deal breaker lol night and day if you watch a lot of content.

One review said that the OLED display on the XS strobes, not so you would notice, but that if you suffer with eye strain that could affect you. I get severe headaches from tube lights and any kind of flickering really affects me. I have the 6S at the moment and when I get a new phone shortly I’ve decided to go for the XR. I’ll avoid the (potential) eye strain, get a better battery, and a bigger but not oversized screen.

I think those who bash the XR are just materialistic, they feel that the XR is inferior simply because it was labeled as a budget iPhone for the X series, I just purchased my XR and I almost got an 11 but I’m so happy with my choice, saved money and the phone just works like a dream. Love the camera(coming from Android), it’s so smooth and the battery holds up so well for so long.
I’d rather have a new iPhone 8 Plus than the xr.... but I love 3D Touch and have to have it...but the xs max is my favorite apple phone by far it’s perfect imo followed by the 8 plus then the x/xs.

People complain about the size and it does take some getting used to but unless people want the XR because of size and color options I wouldn’t recommend it over the Max. However, if that’s their preference 🤷🏾♀️

J D I don’t really have a reason not too it’s a good phone but comparing the XR and Xs Max the XR doesn’t have 3D Touch and screen quality isn’t as good ... & it’s smaller. The XR and XsMax Are both good options but in my case going from 8plus , the Max made more sense as far as features and size goes.
I was going to get the Max, but once I got in the store and looked at the numbers, I changed my mind. However, I am glad I did. The battery life on this phone is beyond phenomenal! My 6s+ was horrible. I was always charging it. I have gotten over 24 hours on one charge with the XR. The other thing that is a plus, and I know it's been around for awhile is the wireless charging. Not having to buy cables every other week is awesome. I'm very happy with my phone and it's too bad it for such a bad rap. It's a great phone.

Yes it may have a bigger sensor but the one camera on the XR is a 2.2 aperture wide angle lens while on the XS it has the same 2.2 aperture wide angle lens. XS also has an additional telephoto lens
And once you go OLED, you can’t go back

The iPhone XR is amazing! I have the white one and it’s really good! Just like he said, it has a very long battery life and it’s reasonably sized! One of my aunts has the XS Max and my other aunt has the XS, and the differences are small. And for the price difference, this iPhone is way more worth it!

I bought my iphone xr last Dec. 4 and last Dec 12 I suddenly dead black. I tried everything and searched on youtube what to do. Nothing it's totally dead. Went back to where I bought it in Abu Dhabi Dalma Mall and they said wait for 2 weeks. It's brand new and bought it really expensive. 3100 aed I won't recommend anyone for this. Battery was good but it's not worth. Wasted my money and time

my iPhone SE (128 GB) in Space Gray was less than $500 with tax...not tempted to buy any of the new phones; however, among the newer phones, I would have to tend towards the iPhone XR as well, mostly because of the battery life and the "lower," but still IMHO expensive price.

It's a really good phone...the only problem for me and many others is...the size it's just TOO BIG! As an iPhone 6 user I was really excited for the XR but once I held it in my hand I was truly shocked on how big it was, this thing is closer in size to the Plus-models than the normal size iPhone 6,7,8, that most people use like myself!
The X & XS are great sizes and closets to the regular size iPhones but I'm not going to pay over a €1100 for a phone NOWAY!
640 I had an iPhone 7 before I bought the XR online two weeks ago, without ever going to the store to test it. I was worried at how large it was when I took it out of the box but a a week later I don’t even notice it and I have really small hands.
