    Jackie going thru the comment section my eyes filled with tears because it felt like I had written all of that.I am in the same situation like you,people saying the similar things to me.I stumbled over Taro’s exercises the first day I did the exercises of the shoulder I could see the difference.He is god send for me.I have started following him now.

    I have never felt such easy, good posture!!! That is, only when my sister helped me. But I had never found a way to ease into a good alignment without one-to-one help. It's amazing to be able to walk naturally without being tired or tense after 5 minutes. It's just so thoroughly natural! I've commented on several of your videos today because I hadn't taken the time before. All my life people would "try to help me" by nagging at me "hold your shoulders back! Stand up straight!" And I've been trying! I've tried so many different things since I was in my 20s. Only when I was 53 I discovered I have a 38 degree scoliosis and therefore so many problems with alignment. I can't wait to share with everyone I know how your instructions are helping me. I have even thought about doing a video myself sharing the story of all the things I've tried, how people would say things to me about my posture with good intentions. I know they wanted to help me, but they just didn't/don't have this kind of knowledge. You've given me a golden key. Thank you, Taro!

    the reframing of "informing" the body of new moments rather than "correcting" made me so happy! our bodies are all beautiful and they deserve our physical and emotional nourishment

      me too. correcting implies something wrong and needs to be changed. the correction frame limits ones potential rather than expanding possibilities and potential.

    My bad posture used to make me feel like a bad person. I had so much shame about it, and no matter what I did I could not fix it.
    You have made me feel so much better about myself - good posture is just what my body doesn’t know yet! I immediately can find better posture after doing your retraining. In the past, physical therapists have even pushed my head back so hard I could barely breathe. Their strengthening exercises and forcing positions made it worse every time. I’m so grateful for you. Thank you.

    I find your practise so wholesome and well informed. I feel my body is healing after many years of chronic pains and tensions and many different conventional therapists who just tried to correct the sympthoms but were always short of interest for their causes.

    Thank you so much ..I have done yoga for many years and never found cat and cow useful for me..now I know why…I’m the second posture and the movement you are showing is actually a Pilates move..🙌..I havnt done this move for a long time…I will start doing it again..

    I have the 1st posture and sit with cushion in the back and have the second posture. But I have subscribed to your channel and can correct myself with no hurry, every time a little better, I slept on my front side for the first time in my adult life, so I am happy and happier.🙏

    I'm a half round!
    I remember that exercise from Yoga. No one explained what it would help. Always found it hard. But now I understand it, going to add it to my routine!

    Half round - I have been doing cat/cow for years likely decades and found it aggravating my lower back...now I know why! Although it aggravated my lower back I persisted...with the half rounded exercise I don't feel that hyper extension and the thoracic feels....likes it's fumbling ...and waking up. Thank you so much for explaining and continuing another few decades in hyperextension of my lower back!

    Thank you. Thoracic spine was helped considerably to make some space from approx 10 reps of the movement. Simply hearing your affirming pointing to the habitual underuse of thoracic mobility helped release and make some room for more comfort. Appreciatively yours.

    This is my husband's account but I am a woman whose neck has no curve, my thorasic is very curved and my chiropractor told me in 22 years he has never seen a low back curve so extreme. So I have full hunchback, but when I sit up straight my low back is curved so far inward it hurts and I 'm not sure which exercise to do. My chiropractor recently told me health practicioner can help me because of the extent of my curves. I am in my 60's. There aren't any Feldenkrais practitioners near me and my back hurts so badly in the car especially. I am not sure if watching a video is sufficient for me but I appreciate learning what I can. Thank you for what you do.

      I would not focus too much on correcting the curvature of your spine. I would focus more on improving your movement in all directions and improving coordination between head, spine, and pelvis/head. As you improve those, you'll improve your comfort and able to sit more upright with more comfort. In my opinion, biomechanical corrective approach can often end up strengthening habitual patterns and causing more discomfort. Thus, I focus on expanding a range of movement possibilities/options and improving quality of movement, which will lead to more efficient movement patterns, more comfortable movement, improved posture and balance.

    I am in none of the bias. My right shoulder or spiral line moves forward so my habitual movement bias is twisted body. Right side of the body is always twisted to the left. Taro can you please make a specific video on how to be mindful on pelvis and shoulder not aligned because one of them is either stuck on anterior tilt or posterior tilt. Basically a video on spiral line would be of great help. Thank you . Love your videos btw

    Thanks Taro! I watched your recent video “Coming Out Of Posterior Pelvic Tilt” as I’ve developed low back pain and a tight psoas (diagnosed by a PT). But, due to my tight psoas, I’ve found the cat cow position to be more comfortable than the sitting position you showed in the PPT video. However, I’ve taken your advice from the other video and really initiated the movement from my hips, and realised how incredibly weak my hips and thighs have become! The cat cow didn’t seem to be helping, but now initiating from the hips it’s so much more effective 😊

      yes for specific mobility training and movement retraining based on your habitual biases, but you have to pay close attention to how evenly you distribute movement through the entire spine so you dont hurt yourself.

    It makes sense, any exercise with a bad alignment of the body will only create injuries. What is your opinion of using a roll in the lower back to sit. I noticed that anything that I do to be strait causes strain on my neck.

      I personally dont like a lumbar support. The position of spine and head is directly influenced by the pisition of pelvis, so adding a lumbar support without adjusting pelvic position can make it worse.     Hello Taro. I am really enjoying your videos. However, as someone with osteoporosis, I am advised against spine flexion. I am trying to improve my posture and stand more upright, and am wondering what to do instead of the flexion that is in your posture videos?

      Yes you have to be careful with spinal flexion with osteoporosis. Moving in and out of your habitual posture (flexion), maybe slightly more but not too much would inform your nervous system of your habitual pattern and train out of habitual patterns. You definitely want to avoid repeated and sustained spinal flexion though.

    I have a special needs son who is literally developing a hunchback like of Norte Dames style. Scoliosis kyphosis bone deformities etc. He is very low functioning as well so I would have to do this for him. I do not believe in braces; I believe in movement! I don’t know how to help him but maybe you can give me some ideas? He is 14 now and I know time is not on my side....

      I also believe in movement! The best way to change his posture is to have him engage in fun activities, movement plays, sports that facilitate various movements that he does not typically use. Climbing is one activity I find very fun and helpful for many conditions. The main thing is that activities have to be stimulating and engaging for him.

      Thanks for your response! He doesn’t walk, doesn’t use his arms much, doesn’t crawl. He does walk on his knees. He’s heavy for me. He doesn’t talk. We do PT and craniosacral therapy. Any direction/ ideas on specific movements/modalities would be welcome. I don’t trust traditional approaches because they don’t seem effective to me. But then I feel at sea as to what to do because funds are limited....

      Have you heard about Anat Baniel Method, now called NeuroMovement i believe ? I think he will benefit from working with either Feldenkrais practitioner or Anat Baniel practitioner. Working witg developmental movement patterns can be very helpful for your son.

    Hi Taro, for the last exercise for half rounded posture - can i take support of my hand below the knees to extend my thoracic spine? Or should i avoid taking too much support and let my body do the work?
    If i do not take support of my hand and extend using my body? I feel my thighs exerting to hold the position of my back. Is this normal?

    When I stand I seem to have an anterior pelvic tilt but when I sit down to do the 2nd exercise my whole back rounds and I can't roll my pelvis forward. Which exercise should I choose out of these two?

      it'd still be helpful for you to practice both so you can develop better body awareness and body and movement control. For the 2nd exercise, please try sitting on a folded blanket to allow your pelvis to move more easily.

    Half rounded posture I believe. My upper back is sore after doing the second exercise, I think perhaps I overextended and am putting in too much effort? I’m conscious in keeping my hands soft and shoulders relaxed. Will this pass with time as the thoracic spine opens up more? I’ve been doing 10/15 reps 2/3 times per day.

      Fantastic! upper back can get a bit sore as you're not used to moving through that area of the spine, so in a way you're "waking up" your thoracic spine. No need to force the movement. as you improve awareness around that area and start to integrate it more during daily activities, it will become easier and more natural.

    I have spondylolisthesis at L5-S1 and have been advised to avoid any back bending exercises. Is the cow portion of the movement contraindicated in this condition? I am a full forward posture. Thanks for sharing this information.

    i am both!!
    when i am totaly engrossed in a task i am full round but I have in my blood to straighten my posture during that sitting time, but when I do the correction, then I remain in half round....
    I am now exercising both retraining exercises, does it make any sense, please?

    I can’t even sit in that position without gripping hard below my knee to keep from falling back. From here I try to arch and round my low spine. The movement is very limited.

    I have the half round posture issue. You have helped me her more aware of moving my thoracic spine and ribs when I walk. I realize now I was holding my ribs still during walking butt now I move them more.

    I have half round posture. When following your retraining approach, do I move slowly and stop at the first sign of resistance, even if the movement is very small?

      yes! stop when you notice resistance. Forcing your body to move through resistance increases tension and reinforces habitual patterns. When you move slowly, the nervous system has a better chance of letting go of habitual patterns and finding more range with less effort and more comfort.

    Just thought I'd add a comment. Of all the sites I've visited to help me loosen up and cure a tingly little finger, this is the tops.
    Such simple, clear advice, and I'm finding I'm curing other problems I'd no idea I had. And yes, the little finger is almost better, but there again, I have to be patient as some damage I incurred will take a few more weeks to completely recover.
    PS Any advice on Stock market investing, Taro?

    Cat Cow. Practice it more than once a day? And does your nervous system find out that the Cow position is the better one when you Practice cat and cow?

      yes practice often. its not that one position is better, but doing this helps the nervous system recognize and recalibrate neutral place

    What if you have a mix of both? It feels like my right hip tilts anterior and my left posterior. I can do the first exercise but with the second it's really hard cause my lower back rounds a lot when I sit on the floor.

      now you know your postural,movement bias, you know which movement pattern you want to fucus on, that is full arching or extension movement pattern.
