Yeah, the Ark can't be found in the vanilla version of the game... ...but it is findable in the UQM-MegaMod (by JHGuitarFreak)! (Along with other Easter eggs.)
The Mmrnmhrm could exist again if the Chmmr managed to repair the Mother Ark. The Chmmr kinda need to do that anways or they've hitched their wagon to a non-viable race. A merger of the Chenjesu and the Mmrnmrhm inherits the problem of the Mmrnmhrm not being able to increase their numbers and thus makes the Chmmr a doomed species unless Mother Ark is restored.
It's actually the opposite, the Mmrnmhrm merged with the Chenjesu to solve their non-viability problem. Hence they are able to reproduce again with Chenjesu help
The Chemjesu’s technology was all biological (albeit silicon). My assumption is that the Chmmr, genetically, are essentially Chenjesu which have been modified to “grow” in such a way that’s analogous to the Mmrnmhrm. Essentially like growing their own cybernetics out of bone. These changes also include, assumably, some modifications to psychology… otherwise the Mmrnmhrm basically committed species suicide.
@@Orzacle assuming that silicon based life has something like genetics in the first place. maybe the chmmr have the capacity to analyze and reproduce themselfs from their own synthesis blueprints with the mmrnmhrm. since the chenjesu have computer like processing capacity, it seems at least very viable to join with an artificial species. it might be that the issue that the mmrnmhrm cant reproduce is resolved in this union. maybe that was the thought behind this in the first place to safe the mmrnmhrm from doom and also becoming more powerful in the process to fight back the ur-quan.
@@YezaOutcast Yeah. The Chenjesu’s reasons meanwhile was to get out of a cultural rut. It would basically mean that the Chmmr are Chenjesu + Biological Silicon Analogous Mmrnmhrm. It’s really interesting! We don’t get many robotic species who consider fecundity as a concept in fiction. In a more generic setting, a species like that would’ve just tried to replace themselves with species 2.0 (or would’ve never had a limited reproduction system in the first place- and would’ve just rapid evolved).
I like to think this could have been in the fan-made continuation as a small fraction of Mmrnmhrm who managed to escape the Ur-Quan and go into hiding.
Not every Mmrnmhrm and not every Chenjesu would have agreed to become Chmmr. There's going to be a handful of holdouts who think a radical change to themselves is too much to pay for victory, especially among the Chenjesu. Also, did they ever solve the problem of the Mmrnmhrm inability to reproduce, or was that part of The Process killed by the actions of the Human Commander? if it was, then the Chenjesu just boarded a sinking ship and the Chmmr will only last for the lifetimes of their current Chmmr individuals. Which while likely long, won't be indefinite.
This is amazing. Being a purely mechanical race, it makes sense that the part at 0:08 sounds like it's a piece of hardware shutting down after failing to converse, and then trying to reboot at 0:10 to start a serious conversation.
I had no idea there was a reddit thread or any back story to this. I just found it via TH-cam randomly playing it in my sc2 soundtrack mix. It's pretty awesome.

@@hjalmarnilsson1756 The worst part is that, at some point, I lost the audio files. The original reddit post was the only place where you could download the OG audio files. This makes these two videos the last place on the internet where you can download the music (run them through a youtube to mp3 converter).

I was sad that I couldn't talk to a Mmrnmhrm. I spent a while combing the stars where the mother ark was supposed to be.
