I really appreciate the astonishing amount of people in the comments section of this video who are offended that NBC said "the government pays for." You are right. The government pays for nothing. The taxpayers are the ones who fund everything. Most of the time involuntarily. Well, lets be honest, even the future stoolies don't like paying taxes which is why they are always yelling at billionaires to pay instead of leading by example by offering to pay more of their money first. So it's probably involuntarily 99% of the time; with the exception of a few celebrities who are probably mostly liars. I don't see Hasan "Cenk's Nephew" Piker offering 90% of his multi-million dollar salary to the public welfare. This is why when I talk about this stuff in videos or community posts I make sure I say taxpayers not government when it comes to public services. I don't want to give people the impression that the government pays for anything like the communists do.

The reason why countries with low birthrates have big childcare expenses is because the government tries to incentivise having more children to counter low birthrates. The problem in those countries is that people focus too much on their career etc. and can't or don't want to afford children. Thus something needs to be done to increase fertility rates. Otherwise those countries won't survive the next century. The US doesn't have that low birthrates thus it is not required to have subsidies from the government. Not because the gov. wants to create a communist utopia.
Noone goes: "Oh the government pays for my childs expenses now? Then I am not having children!"🙍‍♂️
You reversed causation and consequence in this problem.

@@ThinkBeforeYouSleepYT But the conclusion that government support increases birthrate is true. The economic limitations of course aren't the only variable that plays a part to why people don't have children, which is why gov. support alone won't solve the problem, but it still helps increase the birthrates. Most incentives aren't done by direct monetary support but by discounts on public transport, tax reliefs etc. anyways.

@@dragonlord1225 As I said, that was not the point of my argument. The point was that their evidence did not support the argument they are making.
I'm not even sure where the disagreement is here because you aren't even primarily arguing for socialism. Tax reliefs aren't socialism. Can you see how that is a different philosophical mechanism entirely? One is you earn your own money and they say, "We aren't going to steal as much from you." The other is, "You don't have to work hard because we are going to pay for it for you." That philosophical difference in how the money is obtained or kept is important.

I get the impression she does pay. I have a feeling she used to make bank before having kids. SHe was a lobbyist sellout. They make bank. THe top earners of lobbyists can make over a million a year.I doubt she made THAT much, but even if she made a quarter of that, I bet she has a very nice nest egg. Let's say she saved/invested 24k a year for the 12-15 years she was working prior to having kids let's say she got 6%, after 12 years she would have $464,188.33 saved. These are conservative estimates.
They probably keep their finances seperate, and she is using all of her savings to pay for childcare. Since it's HER money, her husband can't say boo. This is why married couples who keep seperate finances are less wealthy than those who combine their income/savings/investments. THe reason couples who seperate money like this is because there is no communication about what is actually going on about the finances. As long as the bills get paid, from the joint household account and there is a joint emergency fund this is all they are concerned about. Couples who don't share finances miss out out investment opportunities, and may be unknowingly paying more money in interest rates etc. It sounds like they need a financial planner and they need to go together. Honestly, she should have purchased an place in New Jersey with cash with her nest egg, he could commute by train, she could stay home and work on her business part time, and this couple would be much better off living off 5k a month, without a mortgage. Even if they lived off $4k and saved $1k they would be infinitely better off.
Just because she made a lot of money in the past, it doesn't mean she is financially literate. In the past she probably had money leftover at the end of the month, someone told her she should invest, so she hired someone to invest for her. THe husband is also definitely financially illiterate. She probably pays for childcare, and the living expenses out of her savings, and he pays for rent with his whole income. In the meantime, they are saving nothing. She has probably convinced her husband and herself that if they sacrifice and pay for childcare now, while she works on her business, it will MORE than pay for itself in the future. Now is this true? Probably not. But she keeps hoping. He might believe it too and since it doesn't really affect his life too much, he doesn't say anything or think too much about it. I noticed he was missing from this "expose." He might even be under the impression her business is making money. He might have never thought to ask.
How do I know she is paying for at least some of the living expenses too?
He earns 65k a year after taxes. THeir rent is 5k a month. There is no way, they are living on $5k a year or $416/m to cover utilities, groceries, clothing, internet, phone bills, entertainment, transportation, etc. It's actually hard to get THAT much credit. He is using his whole paycheck and she is using her savings to pay for living expenses.

$10,000k a month? That is a yearly cost with 2 kids in most places. You are making terrible choices. If you need to live in New York, you can't be wasting your money making time doing a pet project that pays you nothing and will most likely never pay you anything. Move somewhere cheaper and/or go get a paying job. It really is that simple. You are spending $60k a year on a place to live and $60k on daycare. You are going broke. You can get a cheaper place in New York to live (like Brooklyn) and cut at least $2k off your monthly budget. Then either you stay at home with the kids and forego daycare (saving the $5k a month) OR you go get a job that pays more than $60k a year after taxes to make paying that cost worth it. You could also look into cheaper daycare. There are Catholic daycares in Brooklyn that are far less expensive. You shouldn't have to spend more than $5k a month total for housing and daycare in Brooklyn or Queens. Hell, Jersey City is probably cheaper too.
Now, if you don't want your kids living on the street, get on that right now. You can hardly afford to continue on your current path. Be smarter with your money. Be realistic about the life you can actually afford. Stop doing stupid things.

These are some possible red flags I've noticed in certain women for a while now. If you're looking for a good partner for a stable, healthy relationship filled with peace of mind or just curious, this could be worth a read:
      1. Long (fake) nails
      2. Fake hair (~long and/or bright colored)
      3. Makeup (mostly heavy makeup)
      4. Big earrings
      5. Provocative clothing
      6. Very active on social media (attention seeking content; thirst trap antics, etc.)
      7. Questionable.. questions (e.g. "Babe, would you date me if I were a worm", "babe do you think I'm pretty"..)
      8. Tattoos/body mods/piercings (especially in weird places)
      9. Most/all of her friends are male.
      10. Promiscuous or Using se>< as a proxy for feeling loved and adored (this can be especially true for people who struggle with attachment issues/daddy issues)
      11. S.I.G.N language (Shaming, Insult, Guilting & Need to be right)
      12. Herd mentality/No sign of individualism (follows beauty standards, fashion trends, body ideals, bad friends or other trends without questioning or reflecting on their reason[s] for doing so) [often correlates with No. 2, 3 & 5]
      13. Spoilt brat-like/elitist behaviour (e.g. people who refer to themselves as "bad b*tches", claim to have "very high standards" or are "high maintenance" ) [often correlates with No. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5]
      14. Materialistic [often correlates with No. 12 & 13]

      33. Often/always plays the victim-- "When you're so used to playing the victim you don't realise when you're being the villain." (Often correlates with No. 15, 20 & 29. Possibly with No. 6, 10, 11, 16 & 17)

These flags could be a result of insecurities, emotional and/or mental immaturity, childhood emotional neglect, attention/validation seeking, attachment issues, etc.
Observing people's personalities, character and behaviours rather than focusing on their 'physical attractiveness' is a good way to overcome the halo effect.
Also, like attracts like, so make sure to be self-aware and reflect on your actions/behaviour to grow and mature as a person. And be compassionate to others as you'd be to yourself.

Like many lower middle class families, our kids hit the age where it cost more for daycare and other expenses than I could earn by working. With daycare, grabbing premade dinners because I was too tired to cook, and the gasoline back and forth to work, etc it came to the point where it wasn't worth it. So we did what so many young couples do. We cut back on expenses as much as we could and I stayed home with our children. I made the home my full time job. Finding ways to live frugally was a big part of that. If I could save a dollar by doing something myself, I did it. This is reality when you have children.
I'm proud to say that I helped dozens of other women stay home with their kids (where they wanted to be) in my time as a homemaker. Once I broke down the math, they were stunned to realize that they were paying to work, and within a month, they'd be happy housewives.
There was one that baffled me. Not only was she paying to work, but her kids were really struggling in the school system. She had two of the kids on powerful psych meds and one had already had a total nervous breakdown from bullying. Nobody was healthy because all they ate was fast junkfood - including mom and dad. She bitched and moaned nonstop about the plight of her family. I'd show her how she could fix all of this by staying home, by homeschooling her kids and getting them out of a bad environment, and by cooking healthy meals for her family. More complaining, but she never DID anything to resolve the problems. I finally asked her why. She paused, thought about it for a moment, then blandly said, "I don't want to. If I had to spend all day with my kids, I'd hate them. Besides, I love my job."
This is when I realized that I was dealing with a total narcissist. She wanted the attention from the problems, but didn't want to take responsibility for any of it. She'd let her kids be psychologically damaged for life before she put any effort into them. I've never been more disgusted by a mother.
Every other woman acted like she'd been liberated from slavery by coming home, even if it meant downsizing her lifestyle. The husbands were thrilled to have a happy wife, a clean and organized home, and a hot dinner. Children thrived by having one full time caretaker.
If this woman is working for no money and bitching about an outrageous daycare bill, she's got a serious problem. She's doing all of this to herself and if you force her to boil it down, I'll be she says something about how fulfilling her career is. She's making irrational decisions, but she's got her reasons for it. And I promise you, those reasons are selfish.

Going salaries for a nanny of one child were at min $20 per hour plus medical insurance coverage, sick days, maternity leave and pension contributions. The numbers were absolutely insane but that’s what was required by law. I often wonder where all these averages come from that you’ve shown. In the cities themselves the costs are insane, perhaps the costs in the suburbs are so much lower that the averages and means look the way they do. I’d say $5k for 3 kids in 2019 was a steal.

I wondered when I clicked on this episode how the "modern feminist" movement would play into it. I was expecting a story about a single mother with a career trying to shuffle babies from multiple baby daddies.
So what did I get out of it instead? A story about a woman who can't see the obvious.
One, she needed to stop having kids after the first one because they couldn't afford even the first one.
Second, when you are working outside of the home and make no money from it and it is likely costing you money to deal with that "business" it is time to give up the business. You chock it up as an expensive hobby that didn't go anywhere and you then save that money by staying home, raising the kids, and cutting your expenses.
Three, even with cutting expenses, and pulling the horde of kids out of day care and being raised by Mom, you still are going to come up short. Dad needs a second job. And you need to consider moving to a lower cost of living area. And when I hear a household's income is tied directly to the bread winner working for a non-profit ... that is one bad PR incident away from being out of work.
Four, the hubby is a simp. She makes all of the decisions and her decision making is irrational as hell. With three kids, and her having no income he is scared poop less that she will divorce him, get custody of all the kids, and drain him dry in child support. He will be that guy making six figures a year and driving a 20 year old Ford Focus and the ex-wife is still crying for more money.
I have no sympathy for this guy. He walked head first right into this fiasco.

@@jerometruitt2731 Not in this case. After taxes the guy clears $65k a year. Their rent/mortgage is $5k a month. That leaves just $5k for all their other expenses. They straight up can't afford those kids. Not in the area at least they are living at. The solution is to not have kids and both work jobs that bring in income. Odds are between the two of them working they were probably clearing $100k a year after taxes. They were living in a small less expensive home. Utilities and food were less expensive. Hell, even their choice of vehicles was probably less expensive.
As soon as she popped out kid number one she was probably already leaning toward being a stay at home mom. Then she got tired of that. Popped out kid number two and wanted to do a home business so she could work, make money, and still raise the kids. Then she popped out kid number three. And now it is day care for the kids so she can focus on a home business they is probably costing them money to operate.
No, the solution would have been for her not to quit her job, have just one child, and stop trying to live a life style their below average household income for NYC can afford.

The plan whereby women work to pay other women to bring up their children is insane. I once changed my whole view of a, then, friend who put her 7 month old in daycare from 6am to 7pm so that she could work to pay for the outrageously expensive house they bought. It made me physically sick. She is not even actually working. Further, as a European, let me tell you that our benefit, health and housing systems are collapsing under the weight of people not working but taking out and then making epically irresponsible decisions because there is no rock bottom.

In Sweden, there are Work programs and student programs for women. With the aim to push more women into field such as security guard.
These programs are paid for by the taxpayers.
Women use this program to get work, however they choose to become mothers when it's time to start working, something that forces companies to keep this workplace open until the women return.(Aka the workplace pay these women while the women stays at home) Otherwise they may be sued by the state.
So these women come back when the baby is 2 years old, and then get pregnant again ... And the circle continues.

My daughter taught me the most important financial lesson I could’ve ever learned, and this was before she ever earned her business degree. We were out shopping when she was about 7 years old, and I made a comment about not having the money for some thing I was about to buy (dishwasher). She looked up at me and said, “Mommy, how can you buy something if you don’t have money?” I thought she had a point, and decided not to buy it, and went home to make a plan to save the money for it instead. We washed dishes for an extra 5 months, when I was able to buy it with cash. Felt good, and my husband was impressed that I didn’t “fall into the typical trap”. I told him to thank his daughter for the solid financial advice. She’s 27 now and sans her home and her husband’s car, still lives by that mantra. And I still thank her for that lesson.

About 9 years ago I convinced a coworker to quit her job and be a stay at home mom. She was earning $15/hr. Her husband was making about $45k a year. She had 2 kids that weren’t school aged. After paying for daycare, a second car payment/insurance/gas/maintenance, business-attire clothing, spending several dollars a day on lunch, etc, her actual pay for being at work versus staying at home was about $5.15 an hour.
I told her she’s basically missing out on their childhood and causing stress in her marriage (because both were too tired to keep the house clean/cook/laundry/etc) in order to work her butt off for $5.15 an hour. She put in her two week notice and quit. A few months goes by and I see her at a local grocery store. She seems so much more calm and happy. She said her kid’s behavior had improved and they seemed happier also. She did say it was tough making do with one car after they sold their second vehicle but it was a small price to pay.

@@AttackOnTitanlover1999you seem to be an extremely younger child, if there is one thing you must learn as life goes by is that equality does not exist, equality is a word that compiles any kind of context and can be used for everything since it's semantic is confusing. So if you check more deep within people use that word slightly meaning that they say nothing.
Take for example the Flag of US, it comprehends every single citizen despite sex, religion, race, etc... So law is plain at that point, it applies justice, the thing is that an ideological group use that word and it's confusing meaning with the objective to divide society and destroy institutions from within, so now that you kinda understand what is your current situation regarding that "equality" argument you find out you are in a flawed and distorted generation and cannot do anything about it, maybe in 2 or 3 generations can be fixed, but at this moment that word causes a lot of turmoil in USA, no peace will be found maybe in more that an 150 years.

This reminds me of an experience I had about 20 some odd years ago. My father is a successful radiologist, part of that success is not letting anybody know what he really makes except him ("If I told you what I make a year, every time I turn around someone would have their hand out,") this led to my extended family always complaining they didn't have money, or more accurately, while being successful in their chose fields, didn't have my father's level of income. One day we went to an uncle's house, and he showed us this $2000 Ford Escort with something like an $8000 stereo in it. Point is, they, as my dad put it "have money for what they really want" and if you gave them more money they would just spend it on more crap, for the most part. The thing that is most baffling to me, is they just jumped in with both feet without the slightest consideration of "can we afford this". No, if mom in the video had kept her job, or even better, stayed home with the kids, their lives would be significantly less problematic. Also, stop giving money to this "financial advisor", or if you insist on it DEMAND RECEIPTS for what they are doing with the money, otherwise it's just pissing money away. Like you more or less stated in the video, it's unfair for the taxpayer to subsidize poor life choices, if you're a single mom, WHERE THE HELL IS DAD?!?! They never seem to hold them accountable for just taking off. I get widowers and such, but I get the distinct impression that's a small minority. If dad was around helping with income and child care things would be much better, but they always emphasize "single mom" as if it's some badge of honor.
Pull your own weight, learn from your mistakes and move on, don't keep making the same mistakes and making others pay (literally) for them. One thing that would benefit society greatly is letting people fail at things and not supporting them on the taxpayer dollar. It's amazing what people will do when you stop paying for their lifestyle, they do stuff like get jobs and earn an income.

I have had girl friends, friends, and family all ask in subtle ways how much i make over time. I always just say I do ok. One time i was at a family dinner one of my sisters was like "your going on another trip, didnt you just go on a 5 day trip like 2 months ago?" I was like yeah, then came the "did you get a bonus or something." I said that doesnt matter i planned accordingly. My dad looked at me smiled and gave me a wink. He knows like me its none of their business how much i make. As long as i can pay my bills and do what I want while still saving and investing money for my future, im good. Plus i dont want to be asked to borrow money. I have also had family members complain to me when a stock or investment i make has a good payoff. "Why didn't you tell me about it? Why not set me up with it to make money? You never tell us about these things!" Well I did the research to make a sound investment, you never asked about it or for any help with investments, and if i tell you about everything i invest in and you lose some money initially you will complain and blame me.

Another thing this documentary does successfully is minimize her husband's presence and contribution to the point that it almost seems non-existent. It makes Rebekah look like she works hard to take care of her family by herself and that the government (not the person she's in a relationship with) needs to step in and solve that problem.

Yes it does. I should have mentioned that. I think he is only in like 20 seconds of the documentary. Everything else is her and other women. Like literally he is the only guy in the documentary which is quite sexist. Are men not capable of taking care of children? They don't even let Nathan describe his own salary. His unemployed wife does it.
