yeah that's the thing, they had a lot of ambitious ideas but because it was tied to a movie license they simply didn't have the time (it still came out like a year late) or resources to implement all of them well which ultimately lead to the game demise, they bit off more than they could chew
I have played the game back in the days ....... I gave up after 5 missions or so , the game is too hard and complicate . You must often restart because of the time or you have choose the wrong hero . You can not complete the game if you just want to play as Batman because he can not jump high or glide far like Robin , but Robin got not the same skill that is needed that Batman got .
It's because they pound each out regularly behind the scenes. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I think it's quite beautiful actually. Jk, I don't really know anything about their sex lives. Hi :)
That end capture scene where somehow Freeze puts the Bat Trio in freezers reminds me of Mission Impossible PS1 game failures which had an uneasy obsession with... minor Fifty Shades stuff. 😂😵😂😵
This was nowhere near the worst game ever. It was difficult AF and it had questionable design choices (probably due to being too ambitious for the PS1) but the game was ultimately ahead of its time. Even though I never completed it as a kid I still remember it fondly because of how much it stood out compared to other PS1 games
5:55 "why the text's so wobbly?" Maybe use a better PS1 emulator instead of the outdated ePSXe? DuckStation or RetroArch's Beetle PSX HW core are good picks.
I'm also curious about what version of PCSX2 they use to play PS2 games. Are they still using 1.4.0 or 1.6.0? I would like them to use a recent Dev build with AVX2 (if their CPU supports it) and QT since that has advanced features like auto-update and per-game configurations.
This game fascinates me. Its terrible and amazing at the same time. I bought it for $2 at gamestop years ago. I know that there are some slightly random elements, like what the next stage will be, they sometimes go out of order, so finding clues is important. But for the life of me I could NEVER figure out the gadgets. What's that meter? Blue is gadgets, right? Like the rebreather and stuff. But then why does it turn yellow sometimes? It's like a "super" one use thing. Then theres the red dots which sometimes heal you? None of it makes any sense to me. But it makes just enough sense that it keeps me wondering how it all actually works. Open world. Slightly random levels. This game could have been great. Its Arkham-esque. Would love to see someone fix this, flesh it out a bit, and make it playable.
For me are the biggest problems : - you must switch often between dectetive and combat mode - the time is very limited , you must know the way perfectly - you must reload the game because not every hero can complete every mission
I genuinely love this film. It's so terrible It's amazing. I also have fond memories of watching it in my childhood when it didn't matter it was awful because BATMAN.
before GTA3, this game raised my personal bar of standards. I had always wished that games were "Like that psone batman game" until of course, they all were. Then kind of died out again I guess? Are open world modern setting games still being made?
I absolutely loved the Animorphs book series, maybe not the show as much. nice reference! Don't ever apologize for bashing Batman and Robin, they tried hard and failed harder lol.
I remember asking my mum to buy me this for Xmas that year when I was a kid. Still to this day I feel bad that she paid full price for it. Such a massive piece of shit
I actually quite like this back on the PS1, the controls weren't great but not much worse than many games of the time. Its fault was probably being overly ambitious as an open world game on a console not really built for such a thing
Oh, wait I thought this was Arkham Origins? Eh, even then, Arkham Asylum still holds up better than Batman & Robin, despite how enjoyably bad the movie and game based on it are.
My first reaction when seeing the titles of Worst Games is immediate cringe and gives me nightmares, but good nightmares, like the ones that are weird and make you uncomfortable but its okay because its your step brother.
To be honest Batman & Robin is one of the best Batman movies . The game is too hard and nothing for the casual players ......... I'm a very good gamer and I have gave up after few missions , this game is so long that it is on 2 disks .
The famous landmarks of Gotham:
- The Do Nut Shop
- The Trash Boutique
- The winking statue
Forgot the world famous "Garage for Men" clothes store...
Watch out for Robin!
@@willcooper5389 You just attacked a civilian... feel their pain. Their bat-pain.
"Press Do to become Batgirl." This game is alot more progressive than I was expecting.
Ikr!
can't tell if sarcastic or not
Let’s all agree that for a ps1 game, this looks ambitious AF.
Definitely. This game may suck but there are a lot of ideas here that are way before their time.
Agreed. Reminds me of Gotham Knight now
yeah that's the thing, they had a lot of ambitious ideas but because it was tied to a movie license they simply didn't have the time (it still came out like a year late) or resources to implement all of them well which ultimately lead to the game demise, they bit off more than they could chew
@@stealthiscool It could've released on PC as well and the control might fared better with KB+M instead of Controller

How can it be that Peter can quote this film multiple times, but has still not seen Fight Club
It’s the exact same with me.
I'd personally like an Adam West Batman game. Top tier graphics. Free roaming. All the delightful zany moments
“Press DO to Perform the Batusi”
Don't forget the 1960s cameos.
Could have the BAM and SOCK effects when you hit hench men. Also a mission where you just can't seem to get rid of a bomb...
Yes!
There was a hidden Adam west level in lego Batman 3: beyond Gotham, equipped with written out comic style combat sounds whenever u hit someone
This would have been 10/10 if it froze when he said "Everything freeezes"
I remember seeing this game on the "it's just bad" series from Rerez.
Robin's face looks like a mask stretched over the front of his skull.
Like Joker in Death in The Family
@@Jeff-ok6dr kind of, but with less safety pins.
@@Lost-Lilim and also this is scary because it's awful
I'm pretty sure they chose their art aesthetics intentionally so as to make for a great Worst Games Ever thumbnail down the line.
The game is actually really good looking for an earlier ps1 title. Was praised rather heavily for its art and graphics by critics at the time too.
this looks horrific to play but i kinda love the art direction and lowres textures
Guys yous 2 have an unmatched chemistry together. You're a brilliant duo
One might even say a....dynamic duo..
It's because they pound each out regularly behind the scenes.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, I think it's quite beautiful actually.
Jk, I don't really know anything about their sex lives.
Hi :)
I definitely remember seeing that game over cutscene and shitting myself, 6 year old me couldn’t handle it
This looks like it’s going to be absolutely terrible...
Which is just what we want here
The more terrible the better
I think you're forgetting the super famous: Arnies
More terribler the betterer
the worster the gooder

Whether I'm having a bad day, Worst Games Ever always comes in to make it a little better.
To be fair, for a game made in 1998 it looks really good
That "elf" looks like *Dopey* from Disney's adaption of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Yeah wearing green with a pointy purple hat
Can’t decide if this looks better or worse than Spawn The Eternal. That game was a nightmare even with cheats.

26:33 Mr Freezer was playing banjo kazzoie it seems .....
I honestly like the texture work on this game. The face models are crap, but the suit textures are awesome.
"Like the film-"
"No, no I don't"
That gassed me, you guys are so quick
I just looked up a longplay of this game. 6 hours to beat apparently
Longer than the Resi 3 remake
This was amazing as a kid. You could ride the bat mobile

Woke up from a nice sunday nap just to make sure I didn't miss this stream.
Maybe couldve slept in.
I have a recommendation: Mortal Kombat Special Forces.
4:12 have you never seen snow white? that’s Dopey, bro
Love that Mr Freeze built a personalised ‘short-arse’ freeze chamber for female caped crusaders.
literally the only thing getting me through lockdown right now
Rerez had a spectacular review of this game, and it took him forever.
You guys really deserve more subscribers, I'm genuinely amazed you guys haven't been blessed by the algorithm yet.
The things you fight in the museum looks like the Ice Robots in the Defenders of the Earth cartoon.
I completed this game. But I’ve got to admit I loved driving the batmobile at the time especially retiring to the batcave
For the time, and the hardware, this could have been great. It's still already better than the movie
4:25 I'm not stupid, Triply Jump. You're trying to do a Josh Strife Hayes impersonation and I can HEAR IT.
Weirdly good cloak movement though.
Speedrun record holder is Moogle with a time of 39m 51s

No way, how did Robin get access to Tacklmacain?
This is the control bat

The driving portion and graphics reminds me of a ps1 game called Crime Killer.
So it's basicly PS1 Gotham Knights game
That Gothamite is definitely Ant McPartlin

Yes yes please the "do" button... 😂 I died
I used to buy Gamesmaster magazine and wrote to it a few times.
“Good luck inside” is what my last girlfriend used to tell me

Tbf Robin's suit in this game is cooler than the Arkham games.
Feel their pain
Dominatrix: _*shatters upon being punched_
TripleJump: That is.. Wow. Robin is *the most dangerous superhero*

That alarm is driving me batty.
Ba dum bum.
Don’t worry… I’ll see myself out. 🙊
Goat ham is indeed correct it's made from middle English got 'goat' and ham 'settlement.'
I had this, I remember not knowing what I was meant to do and that was my experience.
Lol same not for kids can't figure out what to do we were too young for this shit if you look tenchu then this game is fkn worst for ps1 standards
@@mrlazy2343 agreed.
In the future when Peter and Ben have kids of their own they will emulate bad PS5 games and review it.

What is their intro music it sounds so familiar
Is this a re-upload? Could have sworn I've seen the TripleJump lads play this before.
George Clooney wants to forget this movie
Batman Forever is way worse
Great video as always. Keep up the great work.
I didn't know Gotham was in America Peter.
Open world, beat em up, fully rendered, different characters... this is not a game for this show
A do nut stop.... legendary
I think the graphics are good for a PlayStation game to be honest.
The thumbnails make for some serious nightmare fuel. That's all you need to know that these games are that bad.
Great video tbh. I am thoroughly entertained.
"Can I do on this?" Lol.....
So this was Gotham knights before Gotham knights
9:50 is that WWE's gold dust?
It's Tusk the Beanie Boo Walrus.
Can’t wait to see this!! 😂
The Robin searchlight on the main menu just looks a pair of lips 💋
This game sucks. But Batman Dark Tomorrow is still the absolute worst Batman game of all time.
Good shout. That game was unbelievable in its badness
Wow it didn’t look that bad when I played it as a kid
Wow, Arkham Asylum didn’t hold up very well
Oh, wait I thought this was Arkham Origins? Eh, even then, Arkham Asylum still holds up better than Batman & Robin, despite how enjoyably bad the movie and game based on it are.
GTA could’ve been like this on ps1
I dare you to check out the leisure suit Larry games on ps2/ps3
Imagine gta2 would be like this
Get them off my batsuits 😂
bad emu config ,, bilinear for dlete ridiculous pixels in screen
One of the worst superhero movies gets its equal game. Sounds just.
Alright! Caped Crusader time!
