For those wondering "why ps4?" I already owned MKXL on my ps4, and wanted to play MK11 on my PS4 as well. I only just received a review code for the PC version of MK11 yesterday, far too late to get this video out in a timely manner. My full review will be based on the PC version, expect that soon
Nick930 I got it on Xbox One X. Looks great! Can’t go wrong with PS4 Pro. But the game looks better on Xbox with the higher resolution. 😁 I got the Kollectors Edition - I’m happy with my purchase.
Because of this comparrisson I think MK X looks way better. Yeah the video is using huge close ups which you will never see on your TV or monitor. That's why it looks better in general. This video is ment to sell MK11
Because technology has come to the limit of possibilities and realism. I can't imagine what new they will be able to show us in MK12. Breakthrough in graphics? Unlikely. Graphics in MK11 is cinematic

They have splattered blood. I heard the reason the clothes don't cut or whatever is because of all the clothes models or whatever. Idk, maybe in a few patches?
yeah, they don't feel like MK characters, they also took a lot from the injustice game like the win pose of the characters in MK now look much more flashy similar to the ones in the last injustice game.

It’s a pretty huge difference. I got MKX and 11 on PsPro right? Yet when I compared them they looked like games from different consoles, one old one new. It’s always been interesting to me how much graphics and animations improve on the same hardware as time goes on.
@@v-trigger6137 Obviously I could tell there was an improvement in graphical quality, but I did not realize until the gameplays are set side by side that I could tell exactly how much had been improved, like lighting or texture quality on the edges of character models.
@@v-trigger6137 Sometimes those nostalgia glasses really do make graphically worse games look so much better in memory. And then when you pick up those games again after playing sequels you begin to realize the huge level of difference
I miss hearing Scorpion say "GET OVER HERE!" He's way too quiet in MK11. Also the overall volume is really quiet as well. Usually I have my speakers on around 10 but while playing MK11 I have to turn it up to 20.

X has actually held up pretty well to be honest. 11 obviously supersedes it in terms of visuals but at the time i remember being blown away by that first MKX trailer and then seeing proper gameplay for the first time. It was one of the best looking games I'd ever seen back in 2015 and still looks good today, 5 years later. What they did with the visuals in 11 is just phenomenal though. They may have been lacking with the base roster but they absolutely knocked it out the park when it comes to graphical detail, lighting, effects and customization ect. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Im not a fan of the physical body structures in mkx, they're too disproportionate and cartoony. I like the more realistic approach in mk11, it reminds me of the original games

The improvement from MKX to 11 is absurd. It's a generational leap despite being on the same consoles. The improvement in faces, lighting, shadows, geometry and textures is just... goddamn.
Seth Martin and due to Xbox one Xs new graphics card they were able to also make it look impressive, and as the PS4 pro its slightly less powerful it still looks the exact same as the Xbox one x’s version.
I know MK11 looks better, that's for sure...however I dunno why but MKX has a better style for me while MX11 looks generic in some intances. Might be a personal preference, not sure.

Sudimax yeah I tend to agree. In MK Deception haha Subzero did look like Shredder. Personally I really like his new look in MK11! He’s never looked better. He looks so cool now! I think my favorite change is the way his face looks, especially when you wear his costume without the mask. Scorpion too for that matter. I really dig his Hanzo look.

MK9 MKX and MK11 all have a unique feel and design. Obviously MK11 is the best graphically but its really all in what design and gameplay you liked because they all look good.
One thing I really disliked in MKX was the blood / meat bit effects cause it looked really unnatural, it looked like some form of jelly or a living meat bug.
Like when Mileena did her fatality and was holding all those meat chunks that were just endlessly writhing in her fingers? Looks terrible. I also hated the "sweat beads" in MKX. They looked like giant resin drops on their skin
because they. Mk11 is kinda clunky and it's because eachstring has set intervals between eachhit. a three hit string in mk11 is usualyl always HIT....HIT.....HIT.... in mkx it was hithit...hit or hit..... hithit hit hit...... hit.... etc you get the point.
Funny enough its still Unreal Engine 3. As a downside to this game compared to MK9 and MKX - in MK11 you cant see damage on your character through the fight, he doesnt change no matter how much hits he take when in MKX his clothing rips and skin covered in dirt and blood by the end of fight.
Kinda true, but it depends on the game, mortal kombat is not a real life simulation game like ufc or sports game so making it more real is impossible because if they are very realistic they will have real weight and time physics and you will not send someone flying in the air in real life physics, so no more combos it will be like ufc, that being said they can still make it more realistic in terms of realism alone, i has not reach its peak, compare mk 11 to battlefield 2023, but that level of realism will not happen i think in arcade game, i am kinda excited to see how mk 12 will look, i think there will be super photo realistic grass,trees, water, clouds, sand, realistic wind blowing on clothes etc but i dont think it will look that different from mk 11, for mortal kombat game mk 11 is the peak.

No, it does not. MKX feels like Injustice too, what are you talking about. MK11's clothing is more like the live-action Mortal Kombat we saw which I think is called Mortal Kombat Legacy.
@Sidney J. Duffy the accessories to customize vary from character to character. Your right about the skin colors tho, there's like 6 different skin types. Each with about 6-8 colors each. As for accessories just depends on which character. E.g. scorpion can have his mask, chain and swords changed, while spawn can get his Cape, leg and arm peice changed
Mk9, X, and 11 to me feels like the biggest changes between Mortal Kombat games. But my biggest gripe on MK11 is that “Fatal Blows” or Supers don’t have X-Rays. I know there’s some things that cause X-Rays, but having them introduced in 9 and solidified in X felt like a permanent and good design. Also, the UI for MK11 is very dull. X and XL just hit different I guess :/
I wish X-Rays and all the other similar nonsense did not exist. They do too much damage and they take forever. They just slow down the fight to a snail's pace.
I played mkx 600 hours , mk 11 just 20 , mk 11 just didnt felt right , idc about visuals , i want better gore and gameplay. Hopefully Mk 12 will be better

The most important change is their animation, MKX unnatural movement and badly animated moves was obvious even for casual players. Glad they changed their idle animation to a more natural form.
Yeah, it's been a major complaint since mk 9, I don't know why they can't get the animations done correctly, far better than x tho, but still pretty robotic and kinda weird.
They look more real. More brutal. More them. Now with so many skins they lose their uniqueness and personality. Only their story mode costumes feel unique to them.

To be specific i don't like Scorpion's material for his clothing, his pants & hood looks like its made out of modern wet suit materials, its not bad but i prefer the the medieval look in MK10. For Sub Zero i feel like a lot of his unique look is gone specifically his mask & hood and his frosted arms, he looks more like a generic looking disciple of Sub Zero than Sub Zero himself.

MKX character design look like comic book characters, with big bodies and exagered costumes, MK11 character designs look more like a big budget hollywood movie, with more realistic bodyes and more "serious" costumes. Its a matter of taste, but I enjoy more the comic book style of MKX
@A Frustrated Gamer Yup, the first ones were ultra realistic, but on the 3D era (DA, Deception, Armagedon), they start to have this more comic book style, just look at sub-zero on Deception, so we can say that Mk had bolth styles on the past, its just personal preference

I do not agree with you cuz in mk 9 and x you would fall so slow it was like gravity was lagging and therefore you got longer combos but in 11 you get real falling timer and therefore you need actual training and a lot of combinations but in older ones you eould as he said just mash buttons and because of no timing the attacks would go super fast and the guy would fall so slow that you could basically get infinite button mash him

everything in this new game is saturated and colorful. Everything is so clean and tidy. MK has always been dirty gritty and real. The mk is more like a disney animation.

you forgot a few things that are abscent in MK 11, like the sweat system in MK x where characters`body start to transpire with each of their moves with a very detailer sweats where you can see each sweat drops, without mentioning that the characters`body will transpire more or less depending of the stage they are figthing, like if you are figthing in a snow stage they will sweat barely any sweat but if ou are fighting in a lava stage they will sweat a lot, you also forgot other details like the character`s body gets actually dirty when they fall to the ground, their bodies will get dirty with soil, dust, mud, etc. and in some stages the floor will react to the movement of the characters, like in the snow stage the snow on the floor stage will be moved around with each step or fall of the characters revealing the floor under the snow, the mud in the river/jungle stage will be leave footsteps on the sides of the river according of the movement fo the characters, the same happens with the sands stages. a lot of this details are just absents in MK 11.

Ya I agree, 11 is graphically superior to an incredible degree but X's general aesthetic feels more MK. I certainly can't fault the decision to go for photorealism but I feel like something was lost in translation. MK has always been cartoonishly excessive and there's a goofy charm to general gameplay that I feel was lost with such realistic visuals. 11's characters look fantastic but they don't look like the over the top brutal comic book and cartoon characters brought to life that older visuals did. There's something almost mundane about these characters looking so realistic during gameplay. On the other hand, you can't deny how far they've been able to take the shock value of MK's signature ultra violence with 11's insane visual presentation. Both have their appeal and while I prefer X's visual style, I prefer how 11 handles the more cinematic attacks and can't deny that they are stunning enough to make a strong argument for the new look.
I can't be the only one who's concerned about the direction mortal kombat is now taking towards dlc's. Shang tsung should rightfully be in this rather than dlc since he wasn't in x, but whatever people will still eat it up & buy anything & not give a damn. Wtf is wrong with everyone now??. Back then i could pridefully unlock a fighter, now i gotta pay extra. If these microtransactions continue we could end up playing fighting games now with like 3 fighters & be forced to purchase the remaining. (I'm looking at you SFV 😤)

I think another reason mkx looked more dull is that the lighting was supposed to be very dark in most aspects of gameplay, resulting in a more gritty tone while sacrificing a little realism
Nah I like MK10 Sub Zero design more I feel the lighting is a little bit rough that looks like GTA4 But the water reflection is FANTASTIC Never seen that realistic water in the game before
Mk11 is not that bad, I like it besides the speed and pace of the fights, feels way too slow and the combos feels like being shorter. I like the skins and costumization a lot, I am a huge grinding fan lol. But yea somehow I still prefer mkxl, the fighting speed was just awesome.
Funny enough, I still love Scorpion better in MK9. His look was so badass even with lower graphics he looked more intimidating and less of the "Im a wise old man" schtick.

This is my OPINION and take on it: MKX: Had better character design and fighting sound effects, it made it feel more powerful. MK11: Better graphics and lightning and smoother animations. Overall: I would love if we could combine the character design, maybe remake them a little. Have the graphics and details of MK11 but keep the more (what I think) cooler) character design of X. And BRING BACK THE X CHARACTERS! I'm not a huge fan of the new ones honestly. This is just my opinion so far.
well, im sure you enjoyed every hit having intense bass, but its just not good overall. its best to reserve bassy hits for the big deal stuff, not just a jab. and also, in no universe would those sounds actually happen from such weak attacks. its just much better on a design point of view overall.

I like the battle damage on the characters in MKXL better than MK11. It seems like they took a step backwards in some areas especially getting rid of certain fighters and slowing the gameplay down
Just imagine all the customization options for predator in MK11. Choose your types of helmets, shoulder cannon, and his wrist blades/extra equipment. All the potential...
Hey Nick there's one error I notice you included predator as being noted as not returning in MK11 as a character when he was a dlc movie guest character for MKX as you just said for comparison sake you will only be focusing on the original release cast for MKX
What I like in MK11 is that the caracter body movement is more natural. As an martial art fond, I like when I see games that get closer to Kung Foo real movements, for example.
tho the overall resolution and antialiasing has increased from mkx to mk11 which obv shud happen, the character design in mkx looks way more badass than in mk11
the problem with mk11 is not the graphics, when i played mkx today the feeling was like i have my hands untide again, all the cheracters is very heavy in mk11 even worse then any injustice,and the slower pace without running is not doing this better, the story is great but for now mkx is the winner for the gameplay for sure.

Also the overall volume is really quiet as well. Usually I have my speakers on around 10 but while playing MK11 I have to turn it up to 20.

X has actually held up pretty well to be honest. 11 obviously supersedes it in terms of visuals but at the time i remember being blown away by that first MKX trailer and then seeing proper gameplay for the first time. It was one of the best looking games I'd ever seen back in 2015 and still looks good today, 5 years later.
What they did with the visuals in 11 is just phenomenal though. They may have been lacking with the base roster but they absolutely knocked it out the park when it comes to graphical detail, lighting, effects and customization ect. Definitely a step in the right direction.
If your still here in 2022 . Mk11 roster is actually pretty nice. But is missing a few ninjas.

Im not a fan of the physical body structures in mkx, they're too disproportionate and cartoony. I like the more realistic approach in mk11, it reminds me of the original games

I know MK11 looks better, that's for sure...however I dunno why but MKX has a better style for me while MX11 looks generic in some intances. Might be a personal preference, not sure.

One thing I really disliked in MKX was the blood / meat bit effects cause it looked really unnatural, it looked like some form of jelly or a living meat bug.
Like when Mileena did her fatality and was holding all those meat chunks that were just endlessly writhing in her fingers? Looks terrible. I also hated the "sweat beads" in MKX. They looked like giant resin drops on their skin

Funny enough its still Unreal Engine 3. As a downside to this game compared to MK9 and MKX - in MK11 you cant see damage on your character through the fight, he doesnt change no matter how much hits he take when in MKX his clothing rips and skin covered in dirt and blood by the end of fight.
Ray Blood on clothing is still in MK11, and it looks much more realistic. It looks like it’s actually soaked into the fabric.

Kinda true, but it depends on the game, mortal kombat is not a real life simulation game like ufc or sports game so making it more real is impossible because if they are very realistic they will have real weight and time physics and you will not send someone flying in the air in real life physics, so no more combos it will be like ufc, that being said they can still make it more realistic in terms of realism alone, i has not reach its peak, compare mk 11 to battlefield 2023, but that level of realism will not happen i think in arcade game, i am kinda excited to see how mk 12 will look, i think there will be super photo realistic grass,trees, water, clouds, sand, realistic wind blowing on clothes etc but i dont think it will look that different from mk 11, for mortal kombat game mk 11 is the peak.

@Sidney J. Duffy the accessories to customize vary from character to character. Your right about the skin colors tho, there's like 6 different skin types. Each with about 6-8 colors each. As for accessories just depends on which character. E.g. scorpion can have his mask, chain and swords changed, while spawn can get his Cape, leg and arm peice changed

Mk9, X, and 11 to me feels like the biggest changes between Mortal Kombat games.
But my biggest gripe on MK11 is that “Fatal Blows” or Supers don’t have X-Rays. I know there’s some things that cause X-Rays, but having them introduced in 9 and solidified in X felt like a permanent and good design.
Also, the UI for MK11 is very dull. X and XL just hit different I guess :/
I wish X-Rays and all the other similar nonsense did not exist. They do too much damage and they take forever. They just slow down the fight to a snail's pace.

The most important change is their animation, MKX unnatural movement and badly animated moves was obvious even for casual players. Glad they changed their idle animation to a more natural form.

To be specific i don't like Scorpion's material for his clothing, his pants & hood looks like its made out of modern wet suit materials, its not bad but i prefer the the medieval look in MK10. For Sub Zero i feel like a lot of his unique look is gone specifically his mask & hood and his frosted arms, he looks more like a generic looking disciple of Sub Zero than Sub Zero himself.

MKX character design look like comic book characters, with big bodies and exagered costumes, MK11 character designs look more like a big budget hollywood movie, with more realistic bodyes and more "serious" costumes. Its a matter of taste, but I enjoy more the comic book style of MKX

I do not agree with you cuz in mk 9 and x you would fall so slow it was like gravity was lagging and therefore you got longer combos but in 11 you get real falling timer and therefore you need actual training and a lot of combinations but in older ones you eould as he said just mash buttons and because of no timing the attacks would go super fast and the guy would fall so slow that you could basically get infinite button mash him

everything in this new game is saturated and colorful. Everything is so clean and tidy. MK has always been dirty gritty and real.

I actually agree with this - I prefer the style in X but the graphics overall are better in 11
you forgot a few things that are abscent in MK 11, like the sweat system in MK x where characters`body start to transpire with each of their moves with a very detailer sweats where you can see each sweat drops, without mentioning that the characters`body will transpire more or less depending of the stage they are figthing, like if you are figthing in a snow stage they will sweat barely any sweat but if ou are fighting in a lava stage they will sweat a lot, you also forgot other details like the character`s body gets actually dirty when they fall to the ground, their bodies will get dirty with soil, dust, mud, etc. and in some stages the floor will react to the movement of the characters, like in the snow stage the snow on the floor stage will be moved around with each step or fall of the characters revealing the floor under the snow, the mud in the river/jungle stage will be leave footsteps on the sides of the river according of the movement fo the characters, the same happens with the sands stages.
a lot of this details are just absents in MK 11.

Ya I agree, 11 is graphically superior to an incredible degree but X's general aesthetic feels more MK. I certainly can't fault the decision to go for photorealism but I feel like something was lost in translation. MK has always been cartoonishly excessive and there's a goofy charm to general gameplay that I feel was lost with such realistic visuals. 11's characters look fantastic but they don't look like the over the top brutal comic book and cartoon characters brought to life that older visuals did. There's something almost mundane about these characters looking so realistic during gameplay.
On the other hand, you can't deny how far they've been able to take the shock value of MK's signature ultra violence with 11's insane visual presentation. Both have their appeal and while I prefer X's visual style, I prefer how 11 handles the more cinematic attacks and can't deny that they are stunning enough to make a strong argument for the new look.

I can't be the only one who's concerned about the direction mortal kombat is now taking towards dlc's. Mk11 is not that bad, I like it besides the speed and pace of the fights, feels way too slow and the combos feels like being shorter. I like the skins and costumization a lot, I am a huge grinding fan lol. But yea somehow I still prefer mkxl, the fighting speed was just awesome.

Funny enough, I still love Scorpion better in MK9.
His look was so badass even with lower graphics he looked more intimidating and less of the "Im a wise old man" schtick.

This is my OPINION and take on it:
MKX: Had better character design and fighting sound effects, it made it feel more powerful.
MK11: Better graphics and lightning and smoother animations.
Overall: I would love if we could combine the character design, maybe remake them a little.
Have the graphics and details of MK11 but keep the more (what I think) cooler) character design of X. And BRING BACK THE X CHARACTERS! I'm not a huge fan of the new ones honestly.
This is just my opinion so far.

well, im sure you enjoyed every hit having intense bass, but its just not good overall. its best to reserve bassy hits for the big deal stuff, not just a jab. and also, in no universe would those sounds actually happen from such weak attacks. its just much better on a design point of view overall.

I like the battle damage on the characters in MKXL better than MK11. It seems like they took a step backwards in some areas especially getting rid of certain fighters and slowing the gameplay down

What I like in MK11 is that the caracter body movement is more natural. As an martial art fond, I like when I see games that get closer to Kung Foo real movements, for example.
Remember guys, MK9 was only 8 years ago and look at how low quality the textures and graphics seem in comparison.

the problem with mk11 is not the graphics, when i played mkx today the feeling was like i have my hands untide again, all the cheracters is very heavy in mk11 even worse then any injustice,and the slower pace without running is not doing this better, the story is great but for now mkx is the winner for the gameplay for sure.

I love how in mk11 how they bring out the colors in the character models. Like the yellows in scorpion, the blue in subzero, etc.
