My Tropical Yard in Jupiter, FL: Palms, Ferns & Elephant Ears

  • If you live in South Florida, it is nice to be able to grow whatever tropical plants you choose...and to let them get as big as they want. Years ago in Miami, I collected exotic and rare tropical plants and always wanted to have enough property to collect as many as I wanted. Take this casual walk around my yard with me and see what I have growing. Enjoy but be sure to subscribe before leaving.
BTW- Please check out my other channel: Jupiter Inlet Boats and subscribe. It's a new channel and it takes a lot of time and effort to film the boats so I would appreciate the support.

I live in the south,...in Beaumont, Texas. I had my back patio all dressed up in tropical plants, around my hot tub that I use as a lagoon in the summer. It's hot enough down here that I thought they'd survive. The freezing temperatures during that cold storm killed them all. =(. It broke my heart. I love the tropics!

Love your yard! My daughter lives in Jupiter Farms it's an awesome neighborhood!! I miss South Florida I moved to northwest Florida a few years ago . We have lot's of the same trees and plants here ,but because it gets pretty cold in the winter I can't grow a lot of the tropical plants I used to so I miss that a lot especially the Frangipanni and orchids ☹ Your yard is absolutely beautiful and your knowledge is awesome as well! I did want to mention one thing about the Spanish moss that we have no shortage of in my neck of the woods it will eventually kill the tree if you let it get to out of hand. I have friends come visit and they always want to take some home to put in their tree's, but I always warn them that it looks neat ,but it's not doing your tree any favors unless you are looking to attract bats to your yard because they tend to live in the moss . I use the moss for orchids, but only after treating it ,because chiggers and ticks are also fans of the Spanish moss. I hope I'm not telling you stuff you are already aware of and I really appreciate the education 🙂 Also love how you save stuff off the side of the road lol I have a secret spot I go to whenever I'm in Jupiter for a visit and find passion fruit 🤫

Very nice garden neighbor (I also have 1.25 acres in the Acreage). We both have our bit of Paradise. I should get some of those dwarf oyster plants...

If you do, be sure to keep them very very dry. They thrive with little water but will fungus off with too much water. Thanks for watching.

Could be, you’re right. The yard actually got to be overwhelming so it was a relief to move into my dad’s house with a little yard. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I will be moving into my dad's house in town soon, so I am making another video on what is next for the gardens. Thanks for watching. BTW-I am filming boats almost every day on the south jetty between 3-5 if you are over there. I'm the guy with the hat.

I’m loving your pothos! I’ve never seen one so massive that it almost looks like a monstera plant. My pothos get brown leaves if the sun hits them so I imagine yours is in full shade if its leaves are fine. Anyhow, I’d love to know how it looked when you first planted it. Great good! Your garden is a beauty.
