Basically as crap as this game is, it's made for you to waste as much time as possible until the very end... where you can't turn the console off anymore.

I don’t think it’s arguable at this point that this game is fucking rancid.
Slightly less rancid as Bass if you remember to get the Super Bass Buster and the Treble Boost, but that usually isn’t available when you have to go after Burner Man. But then, that’s basically being rancid with a dash of salt. At least III on Game Boy has E-Tanks, and most of the bosses are easy. MOST of them…

To me this is worse than X6. Yes X6 has some bad game design, but bosses weren't so stupidly hard and the final levels and bosses were "fairer".

At least X6 has a difficulty setting. & Bass meanwhile has nothing.

The game came out in 1998, the freaking "1998" one of, not the the best year of gaming in my opinion, and for me, this is one of the worst megaman games ever!

I played this so many times on GBA that I know most of the ways to make it less bs as Megaman get Beat and energy saver it makes going through the levels so easier to not get hit by enemies as well the weapons like wave burner and ice wall and remote mine ans lightning bolt as well tengu blade recently it shreds things if you are close to them as well the projectile does good damage as well but I agree King two is the worst level in Megaman just at how they expect you to do so much and not break your controller or pc in two or GBA make sure you have extra lifes in case to recharge weapon energy and as for Bass makes the game so much easier although I wish he had the chip to recharge energy it would make it so much easier instead of grinding enemies for health and stuff

How ironic. SomeCallMeJohnny gave an angry review over a game that was too bad or too hard. Yet, he plays those game, anyway, just for charity or other reasons.
“This is the Dark Souls of Mega Man games!” Ah yes. Difficult and with the most ardent defenders saying it’s the most satisfying thing ever after you do a lot of memorization and get a feel for what works. Actually a lot like Dark Souls, in that regard. Though I like how no one defends King 2. Dark Souls isn’t MY thing, but I do like Mega Man…even if I’m the weirdo who says 3’s way better than 2~
Dark souls is still infinitely less frustrating and ball kicking than this game can be. You can BS your way through a lot areas in from soft games by just playing patiently/defensively and knowing when to head back and heal.

Mega Man & Bass really isn't that hard. It's one of the best classic games in my opinion, though it does have a few bad parts like the tank boss.
I can safely say the hate mostly comes from a bandwagon filled with people who have never even touched the game.
@@agreedboarart3188 Mega Man III on Game Boy is easier than this. Why? The bosses were breathers in III. Here? Not so much. Also, III has E-Tanks!
So I played the entirety of Souls and Elden Ring. And Bloodborne. Back to back.
Their difficulty is very overblown. They're built, comparisons aside, around being patient and methodical with your gameplay (except in Bloodborne, where aggression and parrying are how you win and succeed, save some exceptions but those are very specific). There are definitely moments where the games can make you want to throw the controller.
All of that being said, 2 is unnecessarily brutal and even unfair at points where most of what Souls games want you to do (read the room and find ways to dwindle enemy numbers so you don't get overwhelmed) isn't possible. 2 definitely applies here, *possibly* Demon's Souls as well, two specific levels come to mind. Now with Elden Ring, new players can join in the fun.
And yes, Megaman 3 is better than 2.
I don't find the Robot Master levels that tough except for a few BS moments like in Burner Man and Astro Man's stages. King Fortress 2 is one of the most difficult levels in classic Mega Man though. Johnny's problem is he has absolutely no patience. The weapons are DEFINITELY not useless, this is one of the few Mega Man games that requires you to make clever use of them to make it easier (i.e. ice wall on the whales and centipedes kills them almost instantly). Also lol he forgot to buy Beat. It's probably my least favorite classic Mega Man game but I still like it. I love watching Johnny hate it though.
It’s also way easier with Bass...not counting the fact that Robot Masters are more of a marathon Buster-only for a while...

I've watched the entire run, he does really well in the stages and he only really stops to farm near King stages. He took less than an hour in the basic levels. Here is the issue with your defense of the game's use of weapons: there is no moment where it teaches you how to use them effectively, you need to do it out of sheer experimentation, meanwhile every other game gives you a very easy section where you learn how to use your weapons and encourages their use by having them unlock extras or other paths.
There is also the fact this game was clearly designed with Megaman 8 in mind... but it ditched the death refill and everything that made 8 decent and somewhat fun to play.
@@Alice89chan Yep and as someone who has 100% it in the GBA version the game never teaches you how to use your weapons outside of the crystal room and honestly the levels are ok to some extent outside of the bs moments thrown in there is just King's castle stages drag and are a pain to navigate as well the pinheaded boss battles.
Johnny is patient. It's just with how bad most of the level designs, the bosses and the screen crunch are, you can't bypass this game as quickly as you wanted it too and they can go on & on. Also may I reminds you of King Fortress 2?

As much as I love MegaMan, I will never play this game because of its difficulty level. I finally made it through the disastrous MM8 and all of its jump/slide bullshit.
