My numbers were very high at the beginning of 2017. I did the liquid diet E028 through Neocate for 3 months and avoided dairy as part of an elimination diet. Had my most recent Upper GI scope last month and my numbers have dropped. My GI doctors are baffled. I've gone through 6 GI doctors that did nothing but prescibe me meds that me so incredibly suck I thought I was going to die.
None if them discussed diets. Only pills.

I have EoE, and I was diagnosed in 2018. My doctor had me eliminate food groups for 2 weeks at a time, and after a few months, I found my allergen: apples. As long as I avoid them, my symptoms have gone away! My doctor says he has had a lot of success doing 2-week eliminations of food groups rather than an elimination of all top 6-free diet with re-testing. Since my eosinophil count tested negative (though I had symptoms and esophageal rings and strictures), an elimination diet based on how I felt was the most successful way to find my allergen.

Tonia Jordan I have it also Good to hear you’re doing better. Can you now eat solid food like meat? I’m at the Mayo Clinic and we will start the elimination diet this month. I need you to be my friend this really sucks for me. Lol

@@JoeBrown Yes, I can eat anything now (except for apples) even meat. Good luck on your elimination diet! It can be hard at times to stay positive, but once you find out and eliminate your allergy, you'll probably feel so much better! Hang in there!

@@JoeBrown I had GERD for years before my EoE syptoms started (small amounts of food getting stuck, no major impactions). I had a dilation, too. It hurt quite a bit, but it healed pretty quickly and I felt better after.

Tonia Jordan Thank so much. I just have one more question. How many days did it take for your esophagus to heal after if you had a slight tear. Mine has two and it’s been 6 days and still a little tinder

Very helpful. I've not be diagnosed, but I strongly suspect this is my problem. I will try this diet and see if it makes an improvement.

When is this article due to be published? I've been struggling with this since 2007 and have seen 3 different gastroenterologists who don't seem to have a clue and don't seem to believe me when I say it's food related yet I can't seem to pinpoint what. Would be interested in doing the elimination diet.

AmerGastroAssn and what about honey, other bee products like propolis, seafood and nuts - all paleo but they cause me the worst eoe symptoms, so painful it's unbearable. Soy and gluten only cause me mild symptoms. Oh and coconut/palm sugar is supposed to be paleo, too... caused me trips to the ER to remove stuck food, never again I will try something new.

After 3 life saving operations I have removed steak and chicken from my diet replaced with premium mince beef. I was diagnosed 2 days ago after the last operation to save me. I lived all my life it started aged 10 but never knew why and nobody ever told me. I have many allergies including dark chocolates, artificial sugar gums am finally on puff steroids and antiflux pills but will never go back to steaks and chicken because 2 days ago I saw death while waiting to be operated on, this time it was a piece of steak I thank Holy Jesus Christ and the doctors and nurses for saving my life Amen

Thanks! I'm 25 & had never noticed GERD like symptoms before. After 3-4 days of binging on a large bag of nuts however, I suddenly got a weird feeling in my chest area & other GERD like symptoms. I mentioned the nuts to my doctor, but she just concluded that I had too much stomach acid. I have both asthma, pollen allergies and a bunch of indirect food allergies (from proteins resembling pollen) which I thought were completely harmless until then, but still she didn't mention or explore the possibility of EoE and I didn't even know it existed at that point, although my initial intuition was that I was "injured" from the nuts, which I obviously knew I was semi-allergic to. She wanted to give me antacids and something like tums, but I know where all that goes. The idea that I was just chronically messed up and had to rely on medicine to keep the contents of my stomach from escaping was unacceptable to me. Imagine how I felt when I stumbled upon EoE online, and suggestions it could be triggered by allergens, after having initially suspected the nuts myself. Good to know that I was right in not accepting her "solution" and that there's hope in simply doing an elimination diet. I was halfway a carnivore anyway. I think I'll have steak with steak for the next couple of weeks and see what happens. And yes, I'm aware that this video does not constitute personal medical advice 😉. Thanks for the great work regardless.

She had bad acid reflux for years & never sought proper treatment. Her lining in her esophagus is probably shot. Any suggestions of how or what she could do to feel better?
