Glad to note from the market, that the people must have a much better livelihood nowadays. I attended Lieutou, the Chinese public school still there, but in my time it was a two wooden storey building in China Town. I watch the videos of the alumni, situate in Paris though it has much smaller outlets in Australia and Canada. In fact, I attended some short courses in Alliance Francaise, and Lao American Institute also. The two buildings are still there. Most immigrants from Laos stay in a suburb of Sydney, forget about its name, as I visit it once some 12 years ago.

love the vid of that drone flight right at the end there...things changing so fast wonder how long those scenic little mountains are going to last...those chinese so hard up for raw materials they blasting small little mountains like that just for the rocks..my cousin had chinese coming to him to bye a little mountain for the rocks, i told my cousin don't do it because your land around the little mountain is fertile because of the rock minerals in the mountain (more like hill) that washes away to your land little by little...keep up with the videos Todd and maybe 20 years from now everyone will see what they lost

In Lao alphabet, like in Thai, the "k" is pronounced as "G" : grand, great, good... So the stopover to Luang Prabang is pronounced:"Gasi". Is the transcription a "KH" then it is pronounced like our "K" : Phou Khun, you pronounced it right, the small market on top, where it goes down left side to L. P. and right hand to Phonsavan. This "g-k" is confusing for us westerners. So, the first letter in, Thai and Lao alphabet is the ก, pronounced like g:, but in the language books you will read: kin khaow - eat rice - I suppose you know the Lao/Thai word for "banana" :Gluay, Kasi, kin Nam, Kaysone Phomvihane, gin gafe.... But ("k") :Khun, Khammouane, Khmer.,Khon Lao.... I came buy chance over your very interesting videos, took me back into Dezember 1998:After 3 nights in Vangvien(12.000kip/night),me and around 15 other backpackers were waiting on the Highway outside Vangvien for the 9.30a.m.-bus from Vientiane to L. P. The bus was already full, so 4 people(including me) were sitting on the roof of the bus. In Kasi, the bus stopped for a coffee and we realized that sitting on the roof would be to dangerous in the mountainous area. We stood inside the Bus, cheek to cheek. Nowadays Laos has modern roads. Good luck for your trip and stay in Laos.

@@NowinLao As I married a woman (Lao Loum) from Vientiane, I have been there many times till 2017 (my last stay: I came along with a Swiss friend who did the "visa-run" to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane for the first time) In 2017,my "cheap" room in the Touristical area near Wat Mixay ("Mixay G. H.") was 100.000kip,but less standard than a Thai room for 400Baht. Except of HuaPhan, I traveled to every Lao province. You can ask me any info,
