I rescued one of these beautiful cats from a shelter about a year ago knowing nothing about the breed. Those big beautiful eyes caught my attention in the community room and now its history. I love her and her breed so much

I have a Mau. She is fast and very smart. She likes to play fetch and beg for treats when she knows it's treat time. 😺🐾😎

I found my Daisy at the county animal shelter. Neither I nor the shelter knew anything about her breed. I got her for a donation of $35! I’m a cat lover and she’s still a kitten, but she’s so unique and so sweet. Definitely also quick like lightning and she loves to play and splash water with me from the kitchen sink.

I adopted a kitten at a veterinarian clinic in 2002. someone had abandoned a pregnant Egyptian Mau there because she got outside and got pregnant. I adopted one of the kittens and his father must have been a very large cat because he was very long and tall. when he stood on his hind legs, he could touch the countertop in the kitchen. he looked like his Mau mom, though. he would jump very high and pull birds right out of the air. he is also the only cat I'd ever had who chuffed like a wild cat. he lived to be 17 years old. I miss him. he was my big green eyed sonny boy. his name was Larry. one of his "titles" I called him was "Pharaoh Lawrence the Great". 😻

I adopted him from a family that brought him from a shelter in Dubai, to Sweden. But he was not happy in their home, with dogs and small kids. So he moved to us, as an only cat. We have some outdoor living bunnies, he loves to watch them and pet them through the fence, but we do not let them hang out. A very special little guy. Almost a doglike energy.

Hello there! I spy my cat "Djinn" at 3:37 .... he turned 5 years old just a few days ago. That was him as a 6 month old kitten, only 2 weeks after I adopted him. It took him until then to finally come out of "his" room and interact with me.

I've heard Egyptians themselves say they are hard to find there but that I don't know. What I do know is that they are absolutely rare in pretty much the rest of the world, including the US here. It's definitely considered an exotic breed. But if they're starting to thrive in Egypt, that's great! I hope we start to see more and more of them. It was only in the 2nd world war when they went almost extinct so that's amazing that all those efforts really saved them and they're coming back.
