So glad you enjoyed Glenridding! We started learning to sail at Glenridding Sailing Centre (over 20 years ago). We loved it so much we promptly moved up to the Lakes (Kendal) from a lifetime in London, and it changed our lives!
I went out for the second time in my wayfarer yesterday and I'm struggling with the mechanics of the order of operations when tacking, this was very helpful. Keep up the good work.
What a cracking day for your first time on open water. Sadly, not all sailing days are like that. Really pleased your instructor was showing you the best way to hold the tiller extension. The Gull was absolutely ideal for that breeze and water. I was very interested to see that it appears to have chainplates to rig it for a unarig set up. Singlehanded in a breeze, and I imagine it would be an absolute hoot!
We were so fortunate with the weather, it was perfect! Our instructor, Joe, had bought a Gull as his first boat too and was absolutely delighted to train us both in ours!
I always think Ullswater is the most beautiful lake. I sailed a Laser on there about 30years ago, launched from a small roadside lay-by on the East side not far from Pooley Bridge and encountered bewildering and fairly windy conditions due to the proximity of the steep fellsides. It wasn’t until I got well out from the shore that I got any control at all. It looks like you are making good progress.

Great stuff looks like an amazing day! Very useful to see the tiller & sheet hand switch before tacking!
Great, glad you found it useful! Thanks for your comment. 👍
Looking more relaxed. Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Well done, that looked very enjoyable and you both looked more confident, good instructor too.
Thank you! Glad you can see some improvement, Joe, our instructor was great! 👍
Fantastic indeed!

Thanks Timothy! We were blown away with how beautiful Ullswater was.
It sounds like you had quite the adventure, thanks for sharing your story!
hi could you tell me the location where you launched from
Hi there, we launched from the Glenridding Sailing Centre. We kept the boat there for a week - highly recommend it! 👌
@@DanandRow do they allow public launching
Not sure? Probably best to check with them direct. Enjoy!
