That’s a great question. I did!!! I went from getting 5th chair to 1st in some and 2nd chair in others depending on the ensemble. It was the single most effective thing that I did that improved my chair placements in college.
I have trumpets with different bores. One is 460, another 464, the other is 470. Would it be better to start with the largest bore (Assuming that the sound is harder to get out) or does it even matter? Thank you!
So I am new to trumpet, I've been playing for almost a week now and I might be pushing to learn fast but currently the highest note I can get out most of the time (sometimes I struggle a bit) is the E right below the top of the staff. I was wondering if you had any tips to increase my range because the only way I can get higher is by playing in the red of the lips and I've been told that's not good to do. Thanks!
Be consistent with ur playing and take it one note at a time, maybe chromatically. U still have to build those 🥩 up. Don't worry about range, it'll come, just gotta relax. I've been playing 26 years
Don't worry so much about doing high note at first. Start with low long tones and the rest will come with practice as you build your mouth muscles. (embouchure) You will enjoy the trumpet more, going slow. (RECORDING YOURSELF HELPS)
These videos are so helpful man thank you!
Thank you! I wish there were videos like this around when I was learning how to play.
Thanks for the tips! I am sure that we would all like to know: did you get the first chairs after this improvement?

Good air support and use your tongue arch think faster air not louder
