  • Continuing the Holiday Sew-Along with a super easy tutorial to make Key Fob Wristlets using scrap fabric. This is a great last minute gift idea - you can batch sew a bunch for stocking stuffers or craft fairs.
    Order your Holiday 2021 Sewing Kit here - while supplies last
    www.etsy.com/shop/sewingreport
    $29 USD + shipping costs
    Fabric requirements / dimensions:
    *Main Fabric - 3.5 x 12 inches
    *Fusible Interfacing (Pellon SF101 works well) - 1.75 x 12 inches
    *1 inch key fob / keychain hardware
    Note: the shorter fob is 10 inches, the longer fob is 14 inches, but I preferred the 12 inch length. Of course, you can make these whatever length you want.
    Recommend using a woven (non-stretchy) fabric - preferably a quilting cotton, lighter weight canvas, or cotton broadcloth. You'll also need a sewing machine, coordinating thread, iron / pressing board, scissors, and other basic supplies.

    Maybe this has already been mentioned but I saw a tip for clamping the hardware: after you put the hardware on the fabric, fold the fabric sort of inside out back over the hardware so that it’s covering it. You should have a strap covering each side of the hardware. Now clamp the hardware down using the straps as protection from scratching the hardware. This will allow you to clamp down tighter.

    I glue the inside of the metal with super glue gel before I crimp it with pliers. Never have had one come apart.

    You can also stitch the ends together. That's what I do sometimes. Thanks for the video.

    That fine tip glue bottle is the best! I bought one from your Etsy earlier this year, and I end up using it with every sewing project.

    Thank you.
    I sewed the two ends together rather than glue.
    Do you find that sewing through glue affects your machine needle?

    • @SewingReport
      @SewingReport  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at all, as long as the glue is dry. Elmer's Washable School Glue is basically just starch.
