another good video my brother and saw some good specimens in the mine dump ..... stringers and brecciated quartz ...good stuff ...keep them coming and be safe out there and we smashed that like button ...we smashed it hard .
@@Askjeffwilliams Thank you Jeff, I deeply appreciate it. I need to remember “brecciated” quartz 😂 Yesterday we went to the Occidental Mine. The first time I went there was 8 years ago. When I got home it was the first time I saw you on TH-cam. I viewed your Facebook post when you went to the Occidental Mine. Yesterday was special for me and I appreciate You and Lila for it. Thank you. 🙏🏼
@@Rockymountainprospector Thanks Brad! Doug from the Mahoney Mine and I are going to do a Go Pro on the shaft. It should be interesting. Take care my brother 💪🏻
Ernie, check this out....at the north end of Virginia City in a parking lot on @106 Carson St...looks like mine ventilation shaft to me (?). It's in a parking lot. Big old rusted pipe with a top on it. Wasn't able to upload a pic here, but might want to have a look next time you're up there.
New sub here greetings from Australia opal miner here so abandoned mines interest me amazing foundations for what I guess was one large headframe. Wouldn't mind roping down that 1 and exploring the workings , how deep it be only 1 way 2 find out......in having said that that's my thing but maybe get a go pro with lighting and length of rope would suggest in 200ft lengths just a thought. Or rope with a weight on the end to gauge the depth instead of the rock test , but I digress I do that. Have repelled down a few interesting ones and can see the rock splatters from people doing the rock test that in itself is interesting . Great upload will watch your channel grow, nice quartz scatters indeed in the dump areas, the rain ect has exposed them I guess in the overbear mullock dumps.
@@TheSilmarillian Hello my friend from Australia, thank you for being here and I’m very excited to hear from Australia! Wish you were literally here to educate me in repelling. That would be fine indeed. That shaft looked to be maybe 30 feet deep but who knows how far back it goes. On my way back to my truck I found a smaller shaft that’s inline east-west from the one on the video. It would be interesting to see if they connect. I deeply appreciate your insight and input as I’m learning everything I can. Take care my brother 💪🏻
GREAT find sir. We have a setup (GoPro with a spotlight hooked to two fishing poles to prevent spin and enable direction). Let's take it up there and have a good look. There is a LCD screen that hooks to the back of the unit and we can see immediately what it saw. Let's do it!
@ That’s awesome, let’s do it! Actually there’s another shaft below it that runs east-west. I came across it on my way back to my truck. We can check out that one and do 2 episodes in one day. Yes, I want to learn how to repel. See you soon.
The abundance of quartz would lead me to believe that (they) were pulling up the quartz and sampling, looking for stringers that contained enough trace gold to then mine. A hundred years ago when gold sold for less than $35 per oz, you had to have significant gold in a sample to make worth mining. Today with gold at $2,500 per oz. you could probably make good scratch extracting the low-concentrates of gold from those stringers.
Wow, looks like more than a prospect....2 compartments and a man way? They must have had a cornish beam in that slot. You need to fly a drone down there...

The bricks are good indicators of the boiler location. Brick was used as insulation around the boiler jacket.
