I think that Canon has realized that 30MP R1 is not something that people are waiting for, so now they are preparing the new R1 that will be released... soon... ;-) In the mean time we will ger R2 which is not a flagship camera, like R3 was not flagship camera either ;-) I only wonder if 4-5 years old R1 stickers will still work ;-)

I can see the possibility that the camera Canon have in pre-production could be tested by the selected pros in the field (eg the Olympics) and if it proves to be a disappointment as far as a “flagship” goes, then launch it as say, a R2 or even an R3 mkII. Canon are not committed to launching the R1 in 2024 (Canon have simply said that they are “aiming” to launch it).
I blame Canon for not coming ready with their spec sheet to begin with! It’s summer time and no one has time to guess what these specs might be after the Olympics

It's weird that people care so much about a camera that 99.99% of photographers can't afford. It does make for great content for TH-camrs though. The flagships are of no interest to me, it's the mid-range cameras that are the most exciting.
Just like people are most interested in cars like the Ferrari and Lambourgini. While unattainable for most, though oddly more affordable than the average house price these days, they capture our imagination.
True, but the 1 Series hasn't always been about being the best of everything. It's about being the best sports and fast action camera. Other cameras have offered high resolution and a much lower price in Canon's line up like the 90D.
I don’t understand how the 1dxiii hasn’t been greatly reduced. I feel the r3 beat it in almost every way and is way cheaper. Who is going to buy the 1dxiii when the r3 currently exists?

what you said was pointed out, almost word for word, by Jared Polin (Fro) on his Friday podcast. Another good point by Fro was how unimpressive these specs are as compared to the next gen of flagships (z9ii, a1ii) of which this camera will be competing against. Also, these specs (the 30mp in particular) pretty much kills off the R3ii line.
I bet Canon still not able to resolve a technical issue for R1. By the time R1 comes, Sony and Nikon would have their version 2 of flagship waiting there.

Makes sense. As an event photographer, I was excited about the flash sync speed! If that flash sync is real, I’ll be selling my R3 to buy one, but that would be the only spec to make me want to change.

Thanks for the heads up about the upcoming Canon subscription plan. Have decided to replace all my Canon R5 gear and replace it all with a Leica M or SL system. If Leica also go down the subscription route well I’ll just return to analog film.

Where did you get that R5m2? Ha, i'd be happy with the leaked specs, but I'd wait a while, still so happy with my R3 for photo and video, esp since i'm doing more photojournalism and sports. My R5 still rocks, but really want a stacked sensor for quality silent shooting, to record past 30 min and better DR. The R3 shoots such better looking files, I barely have to touch them..
I think you said 2 yrs ago but the Nikon Z8 was released May 10. 2023 I’m sure Canon will release the actual specs for the R1 after field testing with no issues that need to be addressed.
I would assume Canon conducted a survey through Adorama to determine if releasing a flagship model with those specifications would meet more professionals' needs.
The essence of Canon’s own release is “We are developing a new camera; it will have a new sensor and modified processor system; it will be fast; it will rely more extensively on AI for better focusing; we are aiming to release it in 2024; here’s a picture of the camera body”. Beyond that the release in reality says nothing concrete about the specifications of the R1 and does not commit Canon to anything; it’s a “teaser”. It doesn’t even say that the camera WILL be released in 2024 (just “aiming”). If the R1 is released in 2025 then on the wording Canon can’t be criticised (“We said only that we were aiming for 2024 - we missed our aim”). Canon need to take a leaf out of Fujifilm’s book; GFX 100s MkII and GF 500mm lens announced when the items physically exist and can be immediately tested and reviewed. Hats off to Fujifilm!
A 30mp Camera stacked sensor camera still sounds about right. Anything less would be a HUGE disappointment. The only way Adorama would know different is if Canon has already given them the specs. I am certain they have. But Adorama claiming the specs are not correct in the way that they have sounds real Fishy. Regardless, Adorama can't just assume the Specs are wrong because Canon says so but they can if Canon actually hands them the specifications. But if some of the Specs are Right and some of the Specs are Wrong, should Adorama just Claim that they are therefore all Wrong.

Plus how much difference really between the upcoming R5ii and the current Z9, I suspect the R5ii will actually be much better. So the question might be, can the Z9 compete with the upcoming R5ii while Nikon not having a similar type R1.

There's a Russian proverb: trust, but verify. I have just issues too as I have been lied to all to often and people don't even know they are passing on lies half the time. That's why I did this video. The underlying specs are not accurate , and have not been validated. So whatever the reason Adorama did publish them, its a moot point ;)

Are you aware of the market this camera is aimed at? Based on what you are saying, you'd never consider the A9 III, R1 or R3. These are specific built sports action cameras.
I agree, not that 30mp is low, but for the flagship model, it should have more than 30. Currently canon only has 1 RF full frame body with more then 24 Mp and that’s the R5. You would expect the flagship to be just that, a flagship, not a dedicated sports body. A1, Z9 are flagships, this just seems to be an R3 mk2
Yes I am totally aware. We have been waiting for this camera since a long time. This flagship can’t be a master of everything and jack of all trades as was promoted with just 30mp sensor. Sports photographer deserves a higher mp sensor too. They can crop then comfortably. At least to give the option of shooting 45mp for example at lower frames per second.
@@makmak69L7 these sports photographers are going to be using 600, 800, 1200 mm f/4.0 primes. Large businesses can afford those for their photographers to use in the field. At 30 mp it'll look just as stellar as a Z9 or Z8.
Either Canon keeps the R1 specification secret, so that people keep talking about it and the marketing winds itself up, or Canon just released some fairy tales about the miraculous capabilities of this camera, because it is ashamed of this specification, because Master of Everything does not bring anything groundbreaking here after years of waiting.
I think I will wait to view post that says the R5 II or R1 is finally here. I'm exhausted with the teasers from everyone.😥

All these leaks are probaly canon playing a game of free marketing, 5 months back and R1 and R5II has been in the spotlight non stop.

All these sales could be a simple case of lack of demand. Things are tight these days. People might just be sitting on their money.

The R3 is 24mp stacked. So this doesn’t sound like much of an improvement. Sounds like a lot of disappointment.

Adorama and mistakes are common, like the 3 separate times they forgot to include customs documentation when shipping my last 2 cameras.
Not including customs documents can make things more expensive and take longer to deliver.
What fail will be if this are the real specifications! One thing is sure, this is not a technical error.
Probably a webdev getting a template together for the release and forgot to remove the specs before posting.

In 2024, 30mp is very low sensor resolution. Anything less than 45mp, I won’t be interested.
