I use to use the powdered but in our hard water it didn't do so well..partly because I can't use hot water because of the hardness. It stains the clothes. I also had trouble with Dr. Bronner's soap dissolving in the cold water. I would have to dissolve it then add to laundry. Nice channel...heard about you from Homesteady
Thanks so much for watching our Vlog on Laundry Soap. We should have more vlogs coming. Hopefully you find us useful and subscribe to our channel. And thanks for following the Homesteady channel also. Yes, we have hard water problems also that is why we add the arm hammer baking soda. And you could ad some Oxie Clean, and sometimes we apple cider vinegar in at the beginning and we will also add it as a softener. Great idea we will try Dr. Bronner soap. Thanks Check us out in Facebook also
Runaway Acres Chemistry: Baking soda isn’t a water softener. Washing soda is. Chemistry: Adding vinegar to wash water depletes the capacity of washing soda to soften water because they react, producing sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide. It reacts with borax to produce boric acid. Oxiclean contains sodium percarbonate and sodium carbonate, washing soda. After releasing hydrogen peroxide, an oxygen bleach, sodium percarbonate reverts to washing soda. Oxiclean is an expensive way to soften water. Rely on washing soda or borax instead.
