You can study and learn japanese by yourself just like we did, you just have to take the time and take notes!
📖 Over-Simplification 📚 of the Transitive verb explanation in case it's still a little confusing.
0:57 - 1:50
明日、届けます ね!
ashita, todokemasu ne!
• 'ashita' = 'tomorrow'
• 'ne' = 'right?' / 'isn't it?' / 'okay?'
'todokemasu' comes from the verb 'todokeru', which means 'TO DELIVER'. This "masu form" doesn't change the meaning btw (it only makes it sound more polite).
If you look this verb in a dictionary, it will pop up that it is a 'transitive verb'. 🤔
🚨What does this mean?
Well, in order to not fall technicisms 🧐 what you will LOOK FOR in the sentence are essentially 2 things:
➡Number #1. Someone or something that does the verb in the sentence. So, anything that does 'to deliver'. (SUBJECT)
➡Number #2. Someone or something that receives the verb in the sentence. So, anything that gets delivered. (DIRECT OBJECT)
_________________________________________
Tomorrow, to deliver, okay?
明日、届けます ね!
ashita, todokemasu ne!
Taking a look at the sentence again, we notice that it has neither of them 💀 _NO SUBJECT, NO DIRECT OBJECT_
🐈So how can we translate this?
🐈What do we do when we don't find this 'Subject' and 'Direct Object'?
• All we gotta do is actually assign pronouns to the unspecified Subject and unspecified Direct Object. So we can interpret this as:
Tomorrow, (I) (will) deliver (it), okay?
明日、届けます ね!
ashita, todokemasu ne!
EASY.
If you have any doubts, feel free to ask in this thread. ✨✨
does 残る mostly mean "remaining" than "leaving?"
example: 参加者4人残り!
@@testeryz680 You're right! 残る means 'to remain' or 'to be left'
So, transitive verbs depend on the conversation's previous context to fill in what you're trying to say without actually saying it?
Example:
"I opened a bag"
'to open' is a transitive verb, because it requires:
1. Subject: "I" in this case.
2. Direct Object: "bag" in this case.
🇺🇸 / 🇬🇧 In English, if the context makes obvious that "bag" is the Direct Object, we replace it for a pronoun: 'it'
"I opened it"
🇯🇵 In Japanese, if the context makes obvious that "bag" is the Direct Object, we just remove it from our text or speech:
私 は 開けた

Yeah English weirdly merges two pretty different concepts into the same verb (to exit, or to leave something behind)
In fact Japanese doesn't pair them up like English (残る, the pair of 残す, just means to remain… as in to leave yourself) and the other language I know doesn't do it either (留下/離開) so it might be a weird English thing 😅

Reminds me of our Japanese class (in Australia) everyone’s accents impacted pronunciation so bad we had to do a whole unit to fix it. 90% of the class was failing oral assessments not because they didn’t know what to say but how to say it correctly 😭🙏

"Socky tan ducky doo 💋💋💅💅"
3:04 the よ particle here softens the imperative, because the imperative form is usually considered pretty vulgar from what I've heard
That seems to be a trend in Japanese. I learned in a video about Japanese expletives that adding "Desu" immediately makes insult polite.
"Kuso yarou desu"(unsure how to type in Hiragana or Kanji) is an example of that
once my teacher was talking about why the よ makes it softer, although we were discussing the んです form so the logic might not carry over. I don't really remember what she said very well but I do recall よ is often translated as "you know, right?" or something of that effect. Just using either no ending or だ for casual (although だ is usually omitted) makes the sentence a statement or fact(even if untrue). Don't quote me on this though, I'm at N4 level so there's a lot I don't know.
I'm a multilingual so learning JPN was more instinctive than anything--I also got to the same answer you did in correcting the last sentence, but this taught a lot about the foundation and basics of the godan verbs and changing verb forms in a clear manner! Very great bite-sized lesson! I like how you repeat the rules to make sure it is completely understood by the viewers.
...wait Philippines is in top three viewership let's go boys 🎉🎉🎉 . i cringe at my own pronunciation, but since Filipino is a language that is mostly pronounced as it is read per syllable, like JPN, it turns out my pronunciation is prolly a lot better than the girlie in the video 😂😂😂😂

I can tell she mightve used some google translate and havent listened Japanese enough to have good pronounciation.
Not that im saying google translate is bad, its good and i use it sometimes to understand a sentence more.
google translate is bad when it comes to phrases, it's only good if it's word by word
Google translate is English-centric lol, as a person that learn English as second language and Japanese as third, I can say the 2 languages are too different to be machine translated
Deep.l is better. It's a German made deep language model (can also scan images) that is trained on sounding the most natural. It's been around for a while and seems to be getting better. When I typed in "then leave!" It actually spat out じゃあ、出て行け even without the yo to make it less polite. The only downside is that because it is supposed to be closer to how humans speak you sometimes have to think about how to give it the best context for your sentence to achieve the most fitting translation. For example I had to add the exclamation mark to make it clear that this is a full sentence and the "then" was not simply a leftover temporal word from another sentence off screen. It also can't translate single words properly like a kanji you want to know the meaning of since it's sentence and Kontext based. However it works really great on bigger text or text portions like a speech bubble in a manga. Whenever I compare it with Google or anything similar the other translations are never that good since it understands a variety of slang and weird colloquial grammar other language models don't
Oh don't be shy, Google translate IS very bad 😂😂
@@Jasi-Moriyes I would agree. the sheer amount of differences makes it difficult for people who are fluent in both to translate accurately 100% of the time, let alone a program. grammar structure is completely different, plenty of things that exist in one language do not exist in the other, etc. The sentence in japanese for "this is the car" and "this is a car" are exactly the same, there's no distinction. unless you elaborate more, you have to rely on context alone to know what the person means which is pretty much completely foreign to english speakers, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
