The story here really had potential. If Vergil had still had respect for humanity, and wanted to rule out of a sense of wanting to prevent another Mundus, or to prevent humanity from undermining itself, SOMETHING that was at least plausible, it could have worked. The fact that he throws Kat under the bus completely contradicts everything prior to this scene.
He original saw humans as weak, in need of protection. And as the story dove deeper into Vergil’s personal hell, now he probably sees them as nothing more than dirt under his feet.
I actually liked and enjoyed this game a lot. Like everyone I hated the initial teaser and early concepts but the company really made an effort to correct the worst mistakes and kept it original. Like the smoking to make him seem cool, they at least managed to make him more appealing to a new audience. The Vergil dlc was great too, his abilities were fun.
To each their own, but to me the story felt really bland and generic. One thing that I will admit though is that I'm actually curious to see what Ninja Theory would have turned this Dante into in a second or even third DmC, but I'm glad we got DMC V
The already nerfed Vergil was even more nerfed in the remastered version, they took away the little difficulty that this fight had, in the old gen between each cinematic Vergil gains a different ability combining them all with the doppelganger in the last phase and recovering health periodically, but in this fight he does the same 3 things until the last phase that out of nowhere does everything together and no longer recovers health, a true downfall LOL
Healt recoveres was shit because to defeat Vergil you needed to give a last hit with your DT active, which was hard because you have not lot of occasions to attack him before he recovers quickly lot of HP. It was frustrating and not equilibrate tho. It would if you could land the last hit without DT. For the attack pattern, in this game almost every enemy adds move, make longer combos or change attacks in harder difficulties. For exemple, the spitir with the blue shell throws 3 red swords to you instead of 1, soldiers makes Two slash with sword instead of one etc. For bosses it works the same
I genuinely feel as if it could have some really cool dynamics if the devs don’t go out of their way to make it “cool” and “hip”, like with the excessive use of cussing and edgy shit that aged it pretty hard, like take that away and a lot of concepts from this game are actually pretty decent and it might have been decently received, minus the stupid blue and red enemies
@@StoneColdMan2294 This was later made less impactful in the eventual special edition of DMC. Where coloured enemies now only take less damage (and no hit-stun IIRC) from weapons that don't match. Instead of bouncing off like it did in the normal version. Also, lock-on.
I have an idea: after Dante's fight with Vergil, he vows to be a better person, by quitting smoking, toning down the booze and cussing, and learning to live like a human being.

This game doesn't deserve the hate it got. Sure it's got a bad start but overall it was fun and the plot is decent and great at times. It just shouldn't have been a DMC reboot, maybe a different corner of the same universe maybe
Vergil's Downfall, while not the best writing out there by a long shot, actually had a fairly good story. It was personal and psychological. I have a theory - a Ninja Theory, if you will - that Vergil's Downfall walked so Hellblade could run.
Because he wasn't, all things considered vergil did love Dante. for Dante it was easier to fight him cause it hasn't been long since he got his memories back. Who knows for how long vergil has had his memories back so he's more attached to him as family
God, I love this game. Till this day it's my most favorite entry of the Devil May Cry name. I keep this one and DMC5:SE in constant rotation. (Aaaand DMC4:SE for Trish and Lady. Wouldn't need to, though, if Capcom just made them playable in DMC5. 😒) Just a gotdamn shame that we will never get to see what their full Devil Triggers look like. Or see if they ever get an Angel Trigger. Or if they ever get a Nephlim Trigger. 😞
It would have been nice though also as a incentive to get Virgil sword after you beat the game that way when you restarted it you could still have access to Virgil's sword cuz you know once you complete the game all the weapons and powers that you got you can reuse them every time you replace the game

The game actually RIPPED on Dante having white hair by having Dante scoff when wearing a white wig. But, in this battle, Vergil is supposed to block himself with a clone. This clone will block all damage. The only way to get rid of the clone is to activate Devil trigger, causing all enemies to fly upwards, painting Dante's hair white, and making Virgil vulnerable to attack. So its really cool that Dante gets white hair after killing his own brother in DT mode

Actually, by this point of the game Dante's hair have almost completely turned white. It gradually turns white during the course of the game as he is unlocking his powers. Activating devil trigger does make his hair white, yes, and his coat bright red. It makes all color coded enemies colorless (so you can hit them with whatever, pops witches shield and send them flying into the air).
Who would like to play a game where they have Ghost Rider Dante Virgil kratos scorpion blade and Deadpool they make an RPG game based on the characters and can pull in basically any boss fighter from any of their games I'm sure nobody noticed but Ghost Rider and this version of DMC they have a lot of similarities

This reboot is the masterpiece of all DMC games just look on the graphics, story, narration, combat and weapons specially the environment. I understand fans hating what they did with characters in DMC, but lets be fair here. (also this upgrade truck girl from DMC5 is more annoying than any character in DMC, ugh...)
