To each their own, but to me the story felt really bland and generic. One thing that I will admit though is that I'm actually curious to see what Ninja Theory would have turned this Dante into in a second or even third DmC, but I'm glad we got DMC V
The cutscenes in this video could make alot of potential in dmc6 since vergil might be working together with dante
Replace DmC's story with DMC 3 but setting it with DmC's aethestic, design, characteristic, and there's pretty much it.

I still want a sequel of this Danteverse. I hated in the beginning but now, I loved this, either the soundtrack.
I genuinely feel as if it could have some really cool dynamics if the devs don’t go out of their way to make it “cool” and “hip”, like with the excessive use of cussing and edgy shit that aged it pretty hard, like take that away and a lot of concepts from this game are actually pretty decent and it might have been decently received, minus the stupid blue and red enemies
@@StoneColdMan2294 This was later made less impactful in the eventual special edition of DMC. Where coloured enemies now only take less damage (and no hit-stun IIRC) from weapons that don't match. Instead of bouncing off like it did in the normal version.

I have an idea: after Dante's fight with Vergil, he vows to be a better person, by quitting smoking, toning down the booze and cussing, and learning to live like a human being.
@@azzyasbourne9107 but that would kinda be a bit unrelated, after all their quarrel wasn’t over who was a good or bad person, but what humanity was to them. Guess it could work if written well but could easily seem a bit of an asspull for continuity

Not the best story arc, nor the best universe itself. But an interesting set-up and crescendo toward the fight.
And the music was pretty damn good.

The story here really had potential. If Vergil had still had respect for humanity, and wanted to rule out of a sense of wanting to prevent another Mundus, or to prevent humanity from undermining itself, SOMETHING that was at least plausible, it could have worked. The fact that he throws Kat under the bus completely contradicts everything prior to this scene.
His disregard for human’s self determination is clear to see that he has no respect for humankind.
Cause in end he wants power.
He original saw humans as weak, in need of protection. And as the story dove deeper into Vergil’s personal hell, now he probably sees them as nothing more than dirt under his feet.
Virgil doesn't have enough motivation, thus not being able to defeat Dante
He needs more power
He was set through the entire game to be weaker than Dante, so Dante’s victory seems less impactful to me

The already nerfed Vergil was even more nerfed in the remastered version, they took away the little difficulty that this fight had, in the old gen between each cinematic Vergil gains a different ability combining them all with the doppelganger in the last phase and recovering health periodically, but in this fight he does the same 3 things until the last phase that out of nowhere does everything together and no longer recovers health, a true downfall LOL

Healt recoveres was shit because to defeat Vergil you needed to give a last hit with your DT active, which was hard because you have not lot of occasions to attack him before he recovers quickly lot of HP. It was frustrating and not equilibrate tho. It would if you could land the last hit without DT.
For the attack pattern, in this game almost every enemy adds move, make longer combos or change attacks in harder difficulties.
For exemple, the spitir with the blue shell throws 3 red swords to you instead of 1, soldiers makes Two slash with sword instead of one etc. For bosses it works the same

I actually liked and enjoyed this game a lot. Like everyone I hated the initial teaser and early concepts but the company really made an effort to correct the worst mistakes and kept it original. Like the smoking to make him seem cool, they at least managed to make him more appealing to a new audience. The Vergil dlc was great too, his abilities were fun.
This game doesn't deserve the hate it got. Sure it's got a bad start but overall it was fun and the plot is decent and great at times. It just shouldn't have been a DMC reboot, maybe a different corner of the same universe maybe

Vergil's Downfall, while not the best writing out there by a long shot, actually had a fairly good story. It was personal and psychological. I have a theory - a Ninja Theory, if you will - that Vergil's Downfall walked so Hellblade could run.
Chombichrist empty was a nice decision for the end boss music.
You know, seeing the classic outfit in this game proved that Dante's original design in this art style could work.

It was not because he was expecting Dante to agree with him or at least go back to his old lifestyle (that’s what it seems like)
Because he wasn't, all things considered vergil did love Dante. for Dante it was easier to fight him cause it hasn't been long since he got his memories back. Who knows for how long vergil has had his memories back so he's more attached to him as family
God, I love this game. Till this day it's my most favorite entry of the Devil May Cry name. I keep this one and DMC5:SE in constant rotation. (Aaaand DMC4:SE for Trish and Lady. Wouldn't need to, though, if Capcom just made them playable in DMC5. 😒)
Just a gotdamn shame that we will never get to see what their full Devil Triggers look like. Or see if they ever get an Angel Trigger. Or if they ever get a Nephlim Trigger. 😞
Nephlim trigger maybe introduce in future devil may cry series. As still question who was Virgil mother.
The cipher is actually the weapon that you can do most damage to Virgil and of course the rebellion especially when you do the forward dash stinger

It would have been nice though also as a incentive to get Virgil sword after you beat the game that way when you restarted it you could still have access to Virgil's sword cuz you know once you complete the game all the weapons and powers that you got you can reuse them every time you replace the game

A shame though that you can play as Vergil only in his short campaign.

its not in this vid because of the skin equipped, but in this scene, Dante is supposed to have black hair. The game actually RIPPED on Dante having white hair by having Dante scoff when wearing a white wig. But, in this battle, Vergil is supposed to block himself with a clone. This clone will block all damage. The only way to get rid of the clone is to activate Devil trigger, causing all enemies to fly upwards, painting Dante's hair white, and making Virgil vulnerable to attack. So its really cool that Dante gets white hair after killing his own brother in DT mode

Actually, by this point of the game Dante's hair have almost completely turned white.
It gradually turns white during the course of the game as he is unlocking his powers.
Activating devil trigger does make his hair white, yes, and his coat bright red. It makes all color coded enemies colorless (so you can hit them with whatever, pops witches shield and send them flying into the air).
Best part of this game was the gameplay (minus Dante’s devil trigger) and the Combichrist soundtrack.

Maybe it does too much, yes, but it seems more interesting that just making him look like a demon while having stronger and slightly altered regular attacks...
@@skipperg4436 These are personal knit picks; The color coded enemies really limits the combat; the DT fixes that problem but shouldn’t have needed to in the first place if the color combat was excluded. A stun rather than forced air combat would have benefited much more for larger combos. Damage/speed buff will always be welcome and it would have been a much sweeter deal to have special moves/combos only accessible through DT rather than DT tweaking attacks/combos. Ultimately the design choice felt lazy as it was just a callback to the classic Dante color scheme. The design for Nero’s DT in DMC5 should have been used for the DT in DmC; a perfect cross between an angel and devil. Once again, lots of this is just retrospective knit picking.

People may call this scene stupid but its not.
Vergil knew for a fact that he couldnt just say this to Kat or Dante at the beginning cause this would have been their reaction. He kept quiet, waited till his bond with Dante was firm enough. So that when he would say it he would be by his side. That was his motive all along, saying that "saving mankind" was a tool to get the others to help him.
"Stay of this!" has become an inside joke with my friends now

Dmc3 vergil was a just like Dante except better, you knew his goals, you fight him three times through out.
Reboot just want rule over everyone out of nowhere. There no other point where you fight him.
