My neighbors across the street keep lighted battery candles in their windows- I love it,so warm& comforting. My windows are full of potted plants😉 Love your vids!🌱🌧️💐
Love it when you share those beautiful New England towns. You have been working hard, those gardens are looking better and better. Thanks for sharing your home.
Just a quick suggestion; Now that I’m 74, climbing isn’t a good idea. I wash my windows outside myself. I hose them down, then take a small kitchen sponge mop, pour Dawn dish soap on it, scrub the windows and hose off. They come clean and dry without streaks! 😊
So excited to see this video. Thank you for sharing all your experiences. Your daughter is precious, I will subscribe to her channel today. Like mother, like daughter 💝
Peace, love, and an upward trajectory is what your channel offers. The beauty from within manifests into what you create here. My husband and I are excited for every post, as it is our coffee date on Sunday afternoons. You do excellent with simple and grand projects you share.
This was such a heartwarming video for me Linda. I grew up in Belmont and had a family home there for 45 years. I can't begin to tell you how much time I spent in Concord and Lexington and still miss it to this day.( I have relatives buried in Sleepy Hollow.) I miss all the lunches and dinners at the Colonial Inn, and am still a member of the Concord Museum. I have been living in Maine since 1978 although I traveled for my career , and was away alot. It is a very long day trip ride, although it seems your new home is a ride now as well to Middlesex County. I am new as a subscriber and am enjoying all of your videos. Thank you! Your new home is exquisite!! Love Love the toile wallpaper in your butler's pantry! One of my favorite rooms haha!!
Lovely varied video Linda, it’s was a real treat to see Sugarwood at night & the beautiful night sky. The welcome light is a charming tradition & a nice thing to keep up it makes your house look so pretty at night…. 🧚♀️
I so enjoy candles. I keep.1 in a window & always 1 on the table. When our daughters were growing I let them enjoy candle lit bubble baths reminding them to make their days beautiful.
I knew the candle was left in the window for travelers and for loved ones, but not the other reasons. Thanks for sharing this. I watch Arlynn at Arlynn Country Craft Conner. She told the story of the candles in the windows. She keeps a single candle in every window in each window of her house. She lives in an old Battlefield in Virginia. Beautiful Colonel 💕 You have so much yard work, I did some today, tomorrow more will come. Big fires to burn so much wood from many large trees that had fallen over this past winter on our property and from the ones we have been cleaning out to make room for better trees. I will go over to your daughter's channel later this week. Thanks for telling us about it. Happy 4th.
A couple of horses on that nice pasture is probably nicer than a pool. :) YOu already have a barn. Sugarwood has given you this gift, all you need are the horses.
That was me! I was the one who said you should put in a pool! ❤ and you had responded back to me that there was once a pool in that big backyard. Thanks for showing the pic of it. You’re right, they are a lot of work. I live in Minnesota and it would be a very short pool season for us.
I love watching all of your videos. I have candle lights in all of my windows and have been doing this ever since I visited Lancaster, Pa. where it is common. Thank you so much for all you do and share. Much appreciated.
My grandmother lived in a beautiful old colonial in Concord MA. It dated back to the early 1900’s and had a huge kitchen and a stunning butler’s pantry with glass-front cabinets that went all the way to the ceiling. The house was sold after she passed and the first thing the new owner did was remove the butler’s pantry. 😩 That was back in the early 80’s and I still feel just a little bit sad when I think about it. Whenever I see your gorgeous butler’s pantry I get all nostalgic! It’s such a warm, cozy room! Just lovely.
Thank you for the little glimpses of The Orchard House. My daughters and I had a trip booked to go to see it and then COVID came..........Hope to get there one of these days!
I love all your videos I have been watching you for almost a year now we will be leaving for Tennessee to our new home we have been in the state of Florida we have been here way too long can't wait to have some seasons And I can't wait to have new gardens. I'm going to purchase some candles in my new home I like that tradition.
Woke up from a quick nap after work to your video... Love that you "played hookey!" Antique browsing is a favorite pastime!!! Back when I was 5-8 years old, we lived right next to Concord, at Hansom Field AFB. I don't know if it is still there (the base, with so many closures during the 1990's), but my 2nd grade class took a trip to Concord to visit Paul Revere's house and a big church (the North Church, maybe?). Fun to see around the town! I remember learning about Paul Revere's ride, and we walked across the bridge as if we were patriots. Cool that your ancestor was a Son of Liberty! I have two ancestors on both sides of the Revolutionary War. One ended up moving to Nova Scotia after the war and the other was fighting from Maine. Just seeing your garden and how you used hardware cloth to cover the strawberries. I made a hardware oval for a raised metal bed to keep critters away from my lettuces, broccoli and a strawberry mini garden. So far so good! Had to open the chickenwire top I wired on for a tomato plant to grow up and out. :) Happy planting!!!
When we purchased our new home, there was an in-ground pool and I hated it. We finally decided to get rid of it few weeks ago. thank goodness it is finally gone!
I don’t keep a candle in the window but think it’s a nice idea. Growing up I enjoyed all of Louisa May Alcott’s books and really enjoyed your trip there. Would like to see it more in detail sometime. Going to check out your daughter’s channel. She really favors you. 😊
I love your fine living lifestyle channel! I would love to visit New England and see the places you shared. I will also be visiting your daughter's channel. Thanks for sharing!
I have been burning candles in my windows for years now. I have 2 that burn all night, one for my Mom & Dad who are both gone now. I love your videos, keep up the good work!
Candle in the window has been a tradition of my for over 30 years and in every home we have lived. We live in a small town in Southern Ohio and it has always been a tradition to have candles in the window year round. The town is a very historic town so maybe that is why the tradition of placing candles in the window came about. I love when we have been out and come home and see our home with candles in every window. It looks so warm and welcoming!
I have been keeping a lit candle in an upstairs window all year long. I live in New England also and I love this tradition! This year I purchased solar window candles so I am going to put one in each window. My daughter will be visiting from Texas and I know she’ll love seeing the window candles lit up in the evening.
Loved hearing about the light tradition. I will be putting a few lights in the front widows and leaving them all year round. Love your soft spoken words.
I have candles in my windows. I took the tradition from New England and brought it to Alaska and now I’m moving back to New England and our new (127 year old home) has the candles installed. Side note, I’m excited about your daughter channel, thanks for sharing!
I didn’t know anything about the candles in the windows until we moved to Pennsylvania in 2010, and I really enjoyed doing that in each window all year round, but after we moved to Arizona in 2020, I quit as no one around here does it. I should start again as I miss seeing them when we drive up at night. Thanks for sharing all that’s going on in your neck of the woods-it’s so nice to see all the spring 💐 🌺 🌹 🌸
I just went over and subscribed to your daughters channel. In fact, I watched both of the videos and really do love them. I will continue to follow her and wish her nothing but the best of these fun and interesting videos. Maybe since you said that she was a chef that she’ll be able to do some of her recipes on her channel to, sending hugs, love, prayers and kindness…🙏🏼🌸👍🏼🩵🌷ps loved seeing you video of such a beautiful place.🌸 going over now, and looking at your store. I see some things that I would love to get.
I have candles in my windows that come on at night fall, I love the look and started this tradition after a trip to Williamsburg, VA. seeing their welcome traditions 🕯️
Always enjoy your videos. I was raised in the south. But I swear my soul longs to be in New England. Have no idea why. Maybe the seasons. But thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven.
I love keeping a faux candle in the window or in many ha Congrats to your daughter starting a TH-cam. I just subscribed and watched them. She seems very talented. And she is your daughter, after all! Thanks for sharing all the great stops and the home where Little Women was written. Playing “hooky” is definitely needed now and then. 😀 gardens are looking good also. Hi Linda You’re correct it’s pronounced lupins not lupines. We have lots of them here in our cottage gardens in the uk. That’s lovely your daughter has her own TH-cam channel it must be nice having the same interests as your daughter she really is a kindred spirit.

Hi there! I just found your channel and I just love it, so inspiring! I too live in the "Colonial" area of Massachusetts. Thank you for giving me a plan for my next "runaway day! 😅
The garden is looking so pretty Linda. I love a candle in the windows and have been doing it for years 😊. Good luck to your daughter with her channel 👍🏻😊. Enjoy your evening.
I have known about that candle tradition. I watched a Western movie where the husband had a trip to make. Wife lit a candle in the window til he came back. I love that tradition. As always enjoy your channel.❤
I live a short drive from Linda. My son and I took a day trip to lexington over the last holidays. We dined at the same inn and it was great. If you are in driving distance, it's a relaxing, fun and informative place to go when you just need a low stress change of pace!
I love all your videos when you take us on your tours into old towns. I love seeing all the old colonial homes and some of the history behind the homes and towns. I'm looking forward to all your daughter's videos too. She will be digging up some great stuff to share with us! As for the candles in the windows, they do this in most homes in Lancaster PA. I have family there and they all keep candles in their windows lit at night. But of course, they are battery lit candles! Pennsylvania has many beautiful old colonial old homes and towns like New England. I just love seeing it all, so beautiful!
Like you, I've been in the midst of remodeling a home (demo began last August). It's been exhausting. Thank you for giving me permission to "play hooky". We sold most of our furniture (due to a trans-continental move) and learning about places to find consignment, etc. is very helpful. It speaks to the recycler in me. Would you ever consider doing a Q&A for those of us facing such questions as: Is it better to re-upholster versus slip-cover (assuming it's a quality chair/sofa to begin with), sharing some reputable sources for window treatments (i.e. blinds), etc. Thanks for considering. I will definitely check out your daughter's channel, too! Take care!
I just got a message which appears to be from your account saying "Message Me on Telegram" - and that I'd won a giveaway - which immediately made me wonder if this was an interloper using your identity. Just wanting to check it out!
love this video. first of all louisa may alcott is a favorite of mine. so i loved seeing that. and then your gardens. simply beautiful. i love to plant lavender near a walkway, when people walk by and rub up against it that scent is released and it is amazing. great idea about the mint in boxes. i planted all around my pool in mint, and yet it did take over, but it is also moving where i don't want. haha! But that is the joy of mint. Did you know that mint, lavender, etc are natual bug zappers. bugs do not like their scent. Oh, also wanted to tell you, that you inspired me to try the butterfly pea flower tea. It is fantastic! You are quite inspirational!!! thank you!
Loved this video was a good mix of visiting new towns to me and gardening! I love to garden. Going to Connecticut soon for a wedding. I have never been to the New England area soo looking forward to it!! Love history. I live in Northern Indiana. Thanks for sharing!!
Linda Dorough Dixon...Would it make since to plant large boxwood plants around the huge tank in the back yard.. They would be beautiful and when they hide the tank they could make a nice hedge around it...the hedge would always be green all year around...
I enjoy your videos and love your home, so cozy and love how you decorate. I would like the get the fox gloves gardening gloves, can I order from your site, store???? I also like your voice just goes with your home, very soothing.
Hi Betty, Yes you can order on Circafineliving.com via link that says online store. Some of the colors are going fast, but once my vendor gets more (they sold out) I will get more.
I envy your gardens, what you grow, how you care for them....they are beautiful! Unfortunately, the deer I have (or should I say herds) where I live, eat anything that they come upon. (Except my lavender and anything I put behind my ornamental fence) I had also planted lemon grass about 2 years ago, but it will not come back in certain zones, unless you winterize them. The frost/cold will kill them. Thank you for all your tours of the wonderful homes and places in New England!
I absolutely keep a candle in the window. I started when our son served in the Army. He was gone for ten years! That candlelight never went out!
I love hearing that!
My neighbors across the street keep lighted battery candles in their windows- I love it,so warm& comforting. My windows are full of potted plants😉 Love your vids!🌱🌧️💐
"One if by land...two if by sea" couldn't resist! Thanks for lighting up my day!
LOL!
Love it when you share those beautiful New England towns. You have been working hard, those gardens are looking better and better. Thanks for sharing your home.
Thank you Linda for taking us with you to see these lovely places 😊
Just a quick suggestion; Now that I’m 74, climbing isn’t a good idea. I wash my windows outside myself. I hose them down, then take a small kitchen sponge mop, pour Dawn dish soap on it, scrub the windows and hose off. They come clean and dry without streaks! 😊

I so enjoy candles. I keep.1 in a window & always 1 on the table. When our daughters were growing I let them enjoy candle lit bubble baths reminding them to make their days beautiful.
Hi Linda, thank you sharing a lovely lifestyle home. Sometimes care for ourselves gets lost when we get too busy but watching you gives hope.

Enjoy your tree and brush burning. I love to do that myself!
I love having sensor candles in my windows. I live out in the country, and it makes it nice to return home with the lights in the windows.
I put candles in my window in the winter months. (Daylight savings time.) Love coming home to the friendly glow.
Love the new opening! What a wonderful way to wake up with Willow checking on you :). Miss my pup. Thank you for your channel.
KUDOS to Shannon!!!❤ Linda, thank you 😊

I keep a candle in the window also as a light in the darkness- I love the idea of a light in the window being a welcome in the night.

Just seeing your garden and how you used hardware cloth to cover the strawberries. Had to open the chickenwire top I wired on for a tomato plant to grow up and out. :) Happy planting!!!
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing your daughter 's channel it sounds like a fun adventure. Your yard is looking beautiful.
When we purchased our new home, there was an in-ground pool and I hated it. We finally decided to get rid of it few weeks ago. thank goodness it is finally gone!
Lovely, relaxing video. Thanks for sharing your day ...interesting. Also, you have a lot to maintain- gardens, areas to paint or remodel, etc.
