    We will build at least one pond on our place next year so this is great information.

    Thanks for the video! I must of miss this video. I’m thinking next year I’m going to be doing something like this. I’m not going to bury it yet but I do want water further away from my house. Right now we can go about 300 feet with a garden hose but I want to reach to 1000. Our frost line is 36” so I need to go deeper than that when burying the line in the future.

    If you have time on the new farm system, could you show us how you determined where to place the lines and at what intervals. I'm guessing you are basing them off of previous grazing patterns but would you rather run them along a fenceline or down the center

    I was hoping you could show us the detail of the soil profile: how deep does the darker soil run and the observed limits of the root penetration. Because being hard to cut with a trench-cutting tool like that is an pretty good indication of a very robust and deep compaction layer. You know my thoughts on how to deal with that and the reasons for that specific amendment.

    Thanks Greg, doing the same this month in New Hampshire. Frost line at 48”. Can you think of a way to extend the male fitting with the release trigger so I can reach down to 48” and have no risk of water freezing. I don’t see any other longer on plasson’s website. Thank you for all you do in educationing us.

      Put pvc between the female and the T to get to the height u want. Put a cap on the top of the pipe that is around the plassion it will work like a gray well and it won’t freeze.

    Where do you order your riser/sprinkler parts? This is what we need exactly in Colorado. We rented the trencher…just started . I like those attachments you use….

    If your down below your frost line. Even in your area at 30" how do you utilize the quick coupler system? How do you extend it to where you can reach? I'm in upstate NY where my T would need to be around 3.5 fet down. I can not reach that deep to close the lid or undo the male peace. Any recommendations?

    I'm running some line like this on 40 acres from my well house. Using 1" black poly. Only thing I'm not sure of is if I'm going to run into pressure issues running a long line and how to fix it if I do. Would I need a larger pressure tank or something else?

    • @jakeschuster9991
      @jakeschuster9991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the elevation change more than anything 1 inch shouldn’t have hardly any parasitic loss over only 40 acres but if your trying to push it up a 50 foot hill you might have problems

    • @dutch1999
      @dutch1999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jakeschuster9991 It goes through a shallow draw that drops maybe 10 feet and then comes back up to about the same level. Other than that it's pretty flat.

    Greg,
    How far apart are you, & your plumber, spacing the 3/4" Plasson Quick Couplers across your pastures? Is there an optimal spacing in your large open paddocks for these iwatering trough points?
    Thanks
    If I recall correctly, in a previous video earlier this year, you stated that the Plasson Quick Couplers are going to be housed in 6" Schedule 40 PVC pipe? The tops of the 6" PVC uprights have a simple, slip-on cap, correct?

      Every 500 feet or so is the spacing.
      We are using 8” pipe for risers, easier to get my arm down in.

    Wonder what he would recommend on getting fittings for SIDR Poly pipe. Im having a very hard time finding fittings because the normal compression fittings dont work for SIDR because its the inner diameter thats the standard size. i see that Philmac makes some but no one has them.

    • @drewsmith7117
      @drewsmith7117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The philmac fittings can be ordered from powerflex fence. You can get brass compression fittings that are compatible with the SDR 11 but they need to be Iron Pipe Size not Copper Tubing Size

      @@masonbaylorbears sorry! I did not notice that it was SIDR. Around here I can have supply houses special order in fittings for certain types of pipe like that. Philmac also makes fittings that will fit SIDR 7. A lot of times you can get on their website or call them to find the closest dealer to you.

    Thanks Greg. About how far did you run the 1.25"?
    My 3/4" fittings will be on a 700' run off a 400' trunk line. I was planning on using 1" for the 700' and 1.25 for the 400 trunk. Wondering if I should bump it all to 1.25?
    Not a huge price difference, but as you always suggest you need to be prudent with your resources.

      How many head of cattle are you going to be watering now and possibly in the future?

    • @patrickmcginnis6898
      @patrickmcginnis6898 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregjudyregenerativerancher the subject 12 is part of a total 25 grazing acres; so we will start with sheep to improve the land and may possibly add cattle at a future time as we acquire more ground.
      We'll begin with 15-20 sheep, but will hopefully be able to increase that as we improve the pastures.
      I can also see a few pathways where we would end up with substantially more ground and this then becomes a set of paddocks on a larger system and we add cattle.
      Sorry for the long answer. Part of me says to just deal with today; the other side says plan ahead.

      With running sheep, the 3/4 line coming off your 1.25 inch trunk line will give you plenty of water.
