How much property do you guys have? We’re starting a 5 acre homestead and been thinking a lot about the water but our yard is 1300’ long, to separate 1/4 acre paddocks I’d have to run it 1000’ from my well. Do you think this system would work if tied to the house line going 1000’ with no significant elevation changes? And what’s the water pressure like?
We’re on about 60 acres but my rotational system is only about 5. I’m trying to understand what you’re asking here. I think you could certainly run hdpe for 1000’ and have these hook-ups, yes. My water pressure is EXTREMELY low at around 5 psi. I’m only gravity feeding out of elevated tanks, so yes it would work if plumbed from your house with more pressure. I don’t think my 12’ of head pressure on my system would make it 1000 feet tho with no elevation changes. I hope there’s at least a part of this that makes sense. If I were you, I’d run your final plan by the folks at Powerflex before buying anything.
@@birchfieldfarming I’ll check out powerflex! Thanks! That makes total sense. My first video I saw from your channel was your 4 acre system and started following you, this was my second video I saw. I just now saw your gravity system. I was just wondering if I would make it 1000’ on this system which it sounds like I certainly can! Thanks! We are starting our fencing process right now and after your video the other day I decided to change things up quite a bit! I hope it works out! Do you guys farm for profit or is it something you do for the family? My wife wants to try and make money off our farm but with only 5 acres I’m not seeing much potential other than maybe paying for itself to stay running. But maybe I’m wrong
@@robertpascual5725 We make money but are also mindful of our family’s health, including what we’re eating/drinking. Sheep have been our most profitable enterprise so far. They are a good small ruminant to start with, converting grass into meat, milk, fertilizer, and more lambs. We went with St. Croix sheep b/c they are parasite resistant and have been very pleased. Best of luck to you guys, Robert!

Beautiful farm! About what area?
Thank you, we’re in Oxford, Ohio just North of Cincinnati.
How deep does frost go in your area?
We’re at about 30” here. We also have a dedicated winter paddock, lines buried 3’ deep, Ritchie auto-waterer. Makes winter a tad more tolerable.
