    I ordered my proof copy of a book. The address name was different from the kyc ID. The book it seems will not be released by Govt customs. It is quite strange. Amazon should have given the warning. I have lost about Rs. 1400.00.

    Hello Greg, how long does it take to receive proofs?

    • @GregGountanis
      @GregGountanis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Maurice, proofs are not eligible to be shipped with Amazon prime for some reason, so it generally takes 3-6 business days. I have usually received my proofs sooner than that though. Thanks for watching!

    I hate my KDP Proof copy How do I edit it??

    • @GregGountanis
      @GregGountanis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ele thanks for watching! You can go back into kdp and upload a new cover or update the trim size, page style, etc. If the proof has formatting issues you can also go back into your formatting software to see if there are any issues there before uploading through kdp. I use vellum so I check the vellum file first and then adjust the kdp settings if needed.

    Hi Greg, thanks for the video. From the moment you order a proof copy, is there a time frame in which you must then go Live or do you have months before that becomes necessary?

    • @GregGountanis
      @GregGountanis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, I don’t think there’s a time limit on proofs because the book isn’t live yet. So the same way you can make mounds of edits on your book and keep uploading new files each time, you should be able to keep ordering proofs before you go live. Once you go live though u can’t order proofs anymore...u can only order author copies. Once your book is live and u want to make changes to the paperback u can by uploading a new file, but those original copies are already out there in the world, so try and do it all before going live! Thanks for watching!

    Hi Greg! Thanks for the informative video! This may sound silly but may I know if it's possible to order 2 different books' proof copies in the same shipment? Since shipment is quite expensive to my area. Thanks in advance!

      Hi there! Once u order the proof copy for your book it opens up the Amazon shopping cart. If u do that for both books it should add both to the cart and then u can check out as normal. The proof copies are not Prime eligible though. Hopefully they change that one day

    Hi Greg! I want to know how much do the proof copies cost?

    • @GregGountanis
      @GregGountanis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Japnit! When I got my proof copies this past November the price was whatever printing cost was plus shipping. For some reason Amazon doesn’t allow the proofs to ship free with Prime if you’re a member. So basically the cost will really depend on how long your book is. If u check your KDP dashboard it will tell u the price when ordering proofs. Thanks for watching!

    Hello, I was wondering if it would be okay to print a fanfiction using this method. I wrote the fanfiction myself, mentioned both on the cover and in the inside of the book that it is a fanfiction, and am not going to sell the fanfiction. Can I get in trouble for this even with the precautions?
    (Also, great video!)

      If you are not selling your work anywhere or trying to publish it and it’s just for your own entertainment, then writing fan fiction shouldn’t be a problem. If you are intending to self publish fan fiction however and you are referencing already established characters, you may potentially be exposing yourself to legal issues. If that is what you are referring to then I would consult with a lawyer who works in publishing before you try and upload something to Amazon, etc. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
