Finally someone that's said it like it is. If you buy ay product made in China with a brand name from any other country, blame that brand name for supplying you junk, not the manufacturer!!! They make to the spec & price the foreign company asks for. For example, they won't do quality control for free!!!

Looks pretty well made. Make sure to check the QC gearbox oil. Christmas come early. Lucky you.

When I get mine I am going to keep it in the box and move it into the area I want it and then un box the lathe and hopefully lift it onto the bench. Thank you for sharing your experience it gives me insight on what I will be facing soon.

Congratulations! I was too excited to record my un boxing. I got the Sieg SC8 and SX4 mill from China 2 months wait.. I have to agree on quality check where you buy from! I live in Windhoek Namibia and myford's and those are not available here. I went with the Sieg and have not been disappointed one bit...Enjoy!! lots of fun and learning! Same paint issues but got lots of cast iron ;)

That might be alright, you might have to go through it and redo some of the poor quality.

Was looking at a smaller (166lb) lathe and then decided to take the plunge and decided to ordered this beast today instead. Already worried I'm in way over my head. Trying now to find some equipment to help if I never need to move it even a short distance. Hoping that at a minimum the freight delivery will help me put it in my garage to begin with. May have to try a big cash tip.
Do you have a rough estimate on the size of the shipping crate?

I don't know about that, I've seen a lot of Chinese junk that is lacking any kind of quality control.

Nope. I still have it and it works great. No problems at all.

I realize 5 years have past. Were you able to diassemble it enough to lift by hand? I want to put one in my basement.

A few of us did manage to get it upstairs and up on the bench, but we never did take the headstock apart. It was VERY difficult! If you're pretty good with this stuff, I would recommend disassembling and removing the headstock, unless you can rig up some kind of sled or have hoists, etc.
