- In this video I install and run the new 2-speed motor/transmission combo for the Axial SCX24 from RCAWD! This upgrade provides ultra low speed in low range for crawling and more wheel speed than stock in high range. This is a complete, assembled unit and includes a digital servo for electronic shifting. The upgraded 72 turn 130 sized brushed motor comes pre-installed and full metal gears throughout ensure durability and longevity.

They took the gearbox from the Fcx24 and tweaked it to fit the Scx24, pretty clever!
Thanks for posting the video it was quite informative 👍👍
that looks insane! but tbh for 112 dollars i think id rather spend a little more for a good brushless combo because all that noise would make me go crazy overtime!!! i did the maths and i could get the furitek starter system with the lgrp transmitter for about 120+shipping. i think the brushless version would be a better option
If they just sold the adapter plate to install an fcx24 transmission, I'd be into that. This trans itself appears to be their metal fcx trans. You can pick up a stock one from fms for like $30. The value just isn't there.
For all the ones, that have problems with freezing or browning esc's after changing to a stronger servo: you have to use an external bec. That's all.
And in my experience RCAWD is generally to exensive for what you get. Better go with Injora or for some products DJ-crawler or OGRC.
Just my expiriences.
Hey Adam if you overdrive both the front and rear worm gears you could get even more wheel speed in 2nd gear and I’m sure it would still crawl great in 1st
Nice….hope they do a dig unit…I’d prefer a dig
Same here
I’d much rather go this route then the FuriTek Alternative. Thanks, great Video.
The slow crawl is impressive however i grabbed a furitek 2s brushless starter kit for $90 and the mofo nano bam and have $120 in it and its not so robust. I do love innovation but this prices me out of interest. But Great review!
Interesting setup, can definitely notice some of these companies are starting to do 2WD with these small rigs, which I dig.
As for my K10, I put 70wt in my rear shocks & definitely noticed a change in how it drove on flat surfaces & crawled it on the rocks yesterday &....I don't mind a little body rub when crawling, bur definitely noticed a change there a bit, as well.
I bought a 050 motor and alloy trans with metal gears for 20$ and it crawls well and has decent speed. Way more torque. My gladiator is a pig and this moves it easy
Looks very good, I love the all metal gearing and housing. Seems kind of expensive though.
$112 on their site throught the link. Ouch. You can get a furitek starter combo for less. And have good low end and wheel speed
How do we send you pics of our builds? Thankyou for your channel ...super helpful and informative
It’s a pretty sweet setup but I checked their page and it’s listed for $177 which is more than the the truck itself I believe and it’s also more expensive that a furitek brushless setup. I think this might be a bit of a tough sell but I like the idea and the engineering that went into it! Might try it out on my c10 or it’ll be a good excuse to buy another truck to try it out in 😂 EDIT: it is actually $112, I did screenshot their webpage earlier to show to my friend and it WAS $177. I assume a error when adding it to the catalog, my mistake
$177!! What!!
@@SixPHD$177 can’t be😂
Should be 112. But yeah right on the verge of brushless
@@JUSTHAVEFUNRC oh my bad, I didn’t look it up through the link in the description, I just went to their page. 😂 I reckon the affiliate link knocks some money off
@@JUSTHAVEFUNRC actually I just double checked and they changed it to $112 😂 I screenshotted it earlier to send to my buddy and it was at $177 musta been a hiccup when puttin it in the catalog
A thicker viscosity grease will quiet up the gears and you need to center the front axle??👍🤨
This is something ive wanted forever!!!! It's a little expensive tho
I have some binding somewhere as well in my JL. I seem to also have some sort of issue with my steering with my new Emax servo. I have bought a new stock transmitter and new stock ESC and it seemed to help but now its doing it again. Any suggestions?
i don't think it's 'eerily similar' to the fcx24 trans, i'm fairly confident it's a copy and paste, which makes it a very hard pill to swallow, considering the only r&d they did is he skidplate, while Meus, who are superior in every way, managed to develop a 2speed from scratch for the TRX4M at half the price
so yeah, at 112$ this is a ripoff. as that gets you a brushless esc+motor combo from furitek (and if you go 'budget' with the Venom, enough $$$ left over for a nice DumboRC transmitter + receiver)
Good review man! Looked this up on the website and noticed rcawd has a set of ring and pinion portals for scx24 now. Any plans to review those?
I'll have to look into those gears, thanks for the heads up!
Hey man
Question for you as I have no idea
Scx24 mazz design chassis , injora axles and furitek esc motor.
Going forward perfect but reverse it jumps up and down and is not smooth at all
Forward is perfect smooth
Any idea what I can check?
It’s looks cool but if I’m brushless would it be an upgrade and could I put a brushless motor on it as well???
I don't know if you could bolt on a brushless motor. Since its vertually identical to the FCX24, I think the stinger kit for the FCX could be a direct bolt on
I want a set of those wheels, can’t find em!?!
I’m hoping meus makes something like this because it would probably be cheaper and higher quality and look better
I may or may not be working with them on something special
Been upgrading my rig lately. The weight is definitely wearing the stock motor, thinking of basically updating the driveline, motor, transmission and steering servo. Not too sure tho whT to shoot for
I would get a an emax servo and a torque beast 50, the torque beast will be good enough to last until you can start considering brushless
You can get the torque beast from mofo rc btw
@@erinyorke6774 hell yeah, definitely looking around. My budget it basically open but dont wanna like drop a “crate engine” into it yet but i definitely wanna feel some gains. Imma definitely look that up, i hear good things about Emax
And torque beast
Did you buy this or was it provided to you for the review?
They sent it to me to re view
I love my v2 electronics , have you ever burnt any out ,with heavy rigs or in general , also does the v2 brown out with the mofo servos?
I've fried a couple. I had some that died within an hour of running the stock truck, others gave up the ghost after several months of use on modified rigs. I haven't run the V2 with mofo servos so I can't say for sure
thank you so much for the information ,happy flexing@@CapeCrawlers
I have a question about what brushed motor last the longest the stock ones lasted about a week with seven siblings playing with the car
Most aftermarket brushed motors are pretty similar as far as reliability goes. The injora pro 50 or 66t motors are bulletproof and are an easy, inexpensive upgrade.
What wheels are those? Like the brass color
He literally says it in the video
Is there another esc I could use for this motor other than stock
Of course it is😂
Lots! The new MB100 from Injora is a great, inexpensive brushed esc option
I’ve always loved my 2speed in my 10s and 16th but in a 24 I couldn’t justify it. I don’t even see how this would give you scale points either? Not like you can do a vfd trans in a 24.
Negative scale points for the loss of interior
Probably wont work with the furitek motors right?
Since it's basically an FCX24 transmission, I think the furitek stinger setup for the FCX would fit
Or you could toss it and put in a starter brushless kit from furitek
Dig dig dig dig dig dig ... Please someone do a dig dig dig dig!!! Not just 3d printed one though!!!
Put od gears in front and back
With ~24% front and back it would be near perfect I bet
Good review and information. But have to agree with others, seems like a very poor value. You could just buy an entire FCX24 for a handful more $.
Put a mofo big block in it ! That would be super cool!
I can`t think of a single reason to use this. If you gave it to me I wouldn`t use it in a scx24. It sounded like a brick hitting the table just sitting it down, how much does it weigh? 300+g alone I bet. Talk about something NOBODY asked for. The more I think about it the worse it gets. This is basically a FCX24 trans with an adaptor, but heavier because it is all alloy. $1 says this was designed for the FCX24, didn`t sell, so they added an adaptor for the scx, and now they are preying on folks new to the hobby hoping to unload unsold product. If someone wants to make their SCX24 better with FMS parts they should just use the FMS/hobby plus ESC and a .50 motor. That combo will run ya about $40 and is actually really good. Looking for a near brushless slow crawl while having great wheel speed? Add a Mofo torque beast v3 .50 motor and run it on 3s, you are welcome.
Agreed. It’s definitely an aliexpress parts just rebranded. The only thing they did design was the adapter plate. Also at this price the furitek electronics are cheaper on the starter kit. A little bit more on the stinger. V1 and v3 guys it’s basically plug and play. V2 guys. Well there’s plenty of cheap tx/rx combos
Why don’t you stop being an asshole. I agree yes you can say your opinion but you really don’t have to be a dick about it bro
100$ worth of useless..😅
It's cool. But. It's no better than stock and now weighs 3lbs...I kinda wanted one. Till I saw the results....its still cool...but for the slow speed gain achieved, Is totally negated by the cog loss and added weight. Plus the noise=inefficient gears battery life eater
I agree it just looks heavy.
Exactly and with little tinkering you can put the fcx24 axles paired with scx24 trans on a scx24 and get just as slow of a crawl and better top end, without the extra weight. Set of axles are what 40$
5$ brushed motor from China and 10$ worth of metal, asking over 100$? This is way overpriced
Nah
Find a full metal fcx24 trans, motor, and lemur/fcx18 shift servo mount and add that price up.
Then add an adapter plate and new shock mounts/trays +engineering time.
It’s kind of pricey
That’s a joke for $100
Way to much money for something that ways a ton of
Adam get that whorendass decal off the hood of that poor power wagon.........
LOL Axel put that on there before I did this project. It's his truck so I'm not going to touch the decals
So much hostility 😂 its just a gearbox people, get over it
How much did they pay you to talk good about this?
I don't get paid for any of my videos
Hey, don't bully Adam. He's just an intusiastic character and he is getting better (slowly, but still) in critical reviews.
