put your boom in float and use the dump/tilt control to get the correct depth of cut. this removes that control from you and you can focus more on just using the one function to set depth and contour.

If you angle the rake to the next position on the left it will help you build and maintain your driveway crown
That sounds like what I should’ve done on the long section of the driveway. It’s hydraulic angling
Think about the land planes for skid steers that have box blade type teeth you can raise or lower. Your power rake does not run as deep but does the same thing except a much better job of mixing. Try doing your mixing and rough grading with the power rake and finish with the grader blade which is a really wonderful simple tool when you learn it.
Great Video again. With pot holes and cut water paths....think of a pot hole as a bowl in the ground...if you throw rock into that bowl and drive over it..eventually you will bounce all the rock back out of that bowl and it will appear again. You have to take that rock out..pack the hole with material and cover it with rock again...same thing with the channels that water cuts. All that presuming that the power rake did not cut the bowl/channels completely out..which it did not look like it did...though im sure you could go deeper with it. Looking forward to the next one!!

Right
I call it chasing wind rows. Either take less material in a pass, or take another pass over the rows just touching the rows. Once you get the hang of it, you can fill in the low spots with the wind rows on the final pass. You can try the float mode in the loader, but I hate it for grade work.

Exactly right. I always see a pro doing some thing and think I could do the same thing.
Usually harder than it looks
When you put the rake down , put it on the wheels first and tilt it back to the drum
Set the curl function to where the guide wheels and roller make contact at the same time and set your lift cylinders in float mode

You ain't kidding re learning curve and it looks a lot easier than it is.
How much does you skidsteer weigh? Does it feel like it's beating the tar out of your JD. My skidpro soil conditioner feels like it's really hard on my ToolCat.
It weighs 9400 pounds. The Harley rake does not affect it much. Just a matter of getting a smooth grade.

Hey brock go to you tube and typ in how to use a power rake there's lots of videos
Your doing fine but as a observation watch this video again and pay attention to the wheels on the front. If your backing up and the wheels are swaying stop and look at the rake you need to roll the rake more forward. I use float while backing up and paying attention to the front wheels. Once you see it, it will make sense but overall your doing great keep it up. Just take seat time is all.

What size was the gravel?
I mostly get 2 inch down to dust.
Occasionally I will put some bigger rock or 1 inch clean down
