Great video and music. Excellent message with a great question! My answer to that question is found in Col. 1: 15-18. We run 3 of the 299D3xl, 287 & 242.
Yes Sir that would be my answer as well, Amen. Would like to run a 299D3 just to see how much stronger it is. The 259 is pretty impressive for what it can do...
Thanks Brandon! Showing a little grade work I learned from you. Actually I've learned a few tricks of the trade from watching your work. I learned, one day, not to swing the excavator blade into the side of a building and bran new door 🤪😳😁. But, seriously, it great to see the good and bad. It helps folks learn and it makes great videos too. And thanks for helping my channel as well. You subscribed early on after you saw the channel and that was cool to see a bigger channel noticing a little guy. God Bless, Sam
Thanks Jon appreciate that. Enjoy these kind of videos. The multi day jobs are tougher to edit into 30 minute videos. I should do a poll for viewers to let me know what length of videos they like to watch.
@@tristardiggin I would say what works for you the best 👌 👍🏻 I just like how you do time lapse it is cool to see the project come together and it keeps it from being boring. You're doing a fine job Sir.
I like the power rake. Used one on a rented machine. You ever wish you had a tilt bucket on the skidsteer? I feel like it would help with cutting grades and trying to get a slope in.
Would definitely help but they are just a bit pricey. I've just learned how to get the skid steer in the right position to do it. Now on the excavators it would be super nice to have tilt grading buckets for sure.
I love a power rake. We have one at my day job. It has a bigger roller on it and also has 4 links between the quick attach plate and the unit so that it can flex and follow the contour of the ground. When I use one for my business I rent from cat. And I really like the cat. It doesn’t flex but that also allows you to be able to shape better I think. At first I wasn’t happy with it but as the day went on I really fell in love with the cat version. When I go to purchase one I will go with cat for it. They are a brute too. I’ve popped so big rocks up with it. I think the more slender roller on the cat may deliver better torque. Really enjoying your videos. Great messages after as well. I’ve been really focused on my business and things have gotten slow. These vids have helped me realize I’ve been putting my business goals ahead of the Father. Time to turn things around and give him first spot. Let him have my cares and worries and focus on him. I’m already getting calls for more work lol. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the good work!
CAT is the only brand I have operated and love what it does to finish up a job site. I enjoy hearing stories that folks have in their journey with God. And, yes I agree 100% that He is first in all things. Glad to hear that story so thanks for sharing it!!!
@@tristardiggin the one at work is an erskine brand. Nice set up but after using the cat I prefer cat. One other thing about the cat is you have to switch direction of the roller to angle the head. With the erskine you don’t have to change roller directions. Works as long as it’s rolling. Again great video!!
Right, and that is aggravating that the roller won't angle when it's going either way. I saw a Ruckus Rake on Dirt Perfect's channel. I like how it would pivot in the center or you could lock it to a static position. I guess no matter the brand they all do a great job.
Great video! I have my first attempt at Harley Rakin coming up with 4 jobs. 2 big ones and 2 smaller. Forwards or backwards? You do both. YT has me leaning towards mostly forward
Oh boy! That is one attachment that takes a minute to learn. But when you get the hang of it will do a great job. Forward does a good job and the best benefit of going forward is being able to see. I feel like it churns the ground better and leaves a better finish going backwards. Main thing is spin the drum opposite to the direction you are going. You will love the job it does...
Thanks E D, and I appreciate you supporting the channel. I only have experience with CAT skid steers. CATs are a bit pricey but are nice and dependable. I see other folks on TH-cam talking good about taukeuchi and Kubota. I don't have much info on different prices though. Wish you well in finding a good machine for the grading work you want to do... Sam
They do a great job. Like clearing jobs you do. You could run that accross it and it rolls all the loose stuff to the edge of the work area and takes out the high areas and fills in low spots. Works almost as good as that Oak dozer you were running...
I’m demoing a cat 308 this week. I am going to buy something this coming week. My question is I have a John Deere 17D mini ex 4,100LBS, do you think this machine will be too big? My thoughts are to go as big as I’ll ever need and if it cannot fit into a job I’ll use my 17D. Hoping to hear some advice thank you.
I’m debating between the 308 and the 306 but I don’t want to have to buy another machine after this so I’m leaning towards the 308 but maybe I am wrong and should go 306
The 308 is a great size machine. I have several videos where I'm using mine, if you haven't seen those. What kind of work are you doing? For residential work and medium to small jobs it is great. Small enough to get around houses and businesses and still big enough to do a descent amount of land clearing. Pound for pound it is excellent. I'm interested in trading up to a 313 to be able to do bigger jobs but for now they are so expensive I will stick with the 308. Also, the 308 is big enough to comfortably load dump trucks where the 306 and down struggle with reach. Down side to 308 would be working in yards or sensitive areas. The tracks can really mess up an area in a hurry. So, I use the 304 in sensitive areas around houses and businesses. Depending on work you do the 308 should handle what you can throw at it. If you plan to do forestry mulching or something that needs a lot of hydraulic power the 309 would be better. It has a second hydraulic system just for that reason. Little long winded but if I can help just let me know. Thanks for supporting the channel. I really appreciate it!!! Sam
@@tristardiggin I have a 24,000 LB trailer so it will be very close to it’s payload with the machine and a couple buckets but I have dump trucks that are very capable of pulling it I plan todo small to medium jobs mostly residential hope to get into commercial work but again I really don’t want to buy a middle machine like a 304 or something because like you mentioned machines are very expensive I’m thinking if I go with the 308 of buying those polymer construction mats to drive over I’ve watched some guys on Instagram and TH-cam use those and have success
Then I would say yes, that is a great size for you. Even in commercial work, small to medium jobs, it would be a great size. Unless you are trying to load trucks all day or clearing big acreage the 308 will be great...

Thanks. It's kinda just a wet weather creek. It only runs when there is a good bit of rain.

In south Louisiana we put our dozer where a skid steer would get stuck
👍
Could you have skipped all the work with the bucket. And just used the Harley rake? And achieved the same results?
Couldn't have moved all the dirt to reshape the area without the bucket. The harley rake would have definitely worked the ground up though...
I'm on a job now that I almost rented a power rake. Kinda wish I did now.

Do you think this would help with my yard? All the rocks?
It would rake off some rocks but I think it would be pretty hard on the machine.
Hey sir is there a difference between a Harley Rake and a Soil Conditioner? Which do prefer?
As far as I know it's just a different name for a harley rake/power rake. It is definitely a great attachment.
