surprised to see you have an automatic, figured you would have one of the old 3/4 speeds with the grany low on them for this rig , that's my weapon of choice personally love those things and they are pretty much bullet proof too.
Interesting about the high knuckle weakness. Something I didn't think of that I will have to remember if it ever becomes relevant for me. It definitely changes what it would take for me to consider high knuckles and how I would implement it. I'm not sure if you running a manual valve body or not, but, generally, IIRC in my old turbo 350's anyways, they used to just limit the top gear with the selector but let it down shift on it's own. Even at that, though, 3 speed autos don't have a very low first and many of the GM transfer cases don't have a very low, low range. Some of them are less than 2:1. Add all of that to the fact that you were moving, what 15,000 pounds total give or take? That's not an easy feat up a hill.
is it just me or did anyone else notice the kid playing "Russian Roulette" with that hi lift jack? what if the car just rolled forward? it would have been a bad situation man...
surprised the wrecker couldn't spin those tires? is it the 454 motor? i cant imagine it being a 350 and towing those heavy monsters outta the woods? either way. the wrecker is a bad ass truck!
Yo bsf, 4-speed transmissions are so cheap 4 those cuz they don't have over drive, you should get one then be able to hop it down into fist for more torque.
I didn't understand what happen... why the engine could not spin the wheels??? By the comments, it seems that the wrecker was in 2nd gear?? I ask because in other videos I have seen the wrecker pulling uphills without trouble....
Yes the wrecker was in 2nd gear, with the weak floor in the cab, and flexing off-road it can change the angle on the shift linkage for the auto trans. causing it to shift up to second. The cure for that would be a new cab, and a conversion to a cable shift linkage. Someday.
the hump at the peak of the hill the angle of the towed vehicle changes and puts more strain on the tow truck making it more difficult to pull over the top. If that little lump was not at the top of the hill it would have had less trouble pulling it over.
+cehc25 there is always a weak link. You put enough low gearing, and then what happens, engine doesn't have enough power and stalls. nature always works against you.
That wrecker is badass!! Love watching your videos!
Love that you have the family out there, and love hearing your boys chatter.
Apologies. I love hearing your baby girls chatter in the cab. My daughter is younger ( only 16 months) so she hasn't been off-roading yet.
I can totally understand....rescuing the stranded off-roaders while wheelin'....the challenge is there....great job!!!
I am glad that your training up the next generation recovery experts. :-)
Thank u ,21 min of great stuff,& a new voice to the Off Road world,Im a Dad of 3 Daughters
Man, you are good at what you do. Keep the videos coming!
@ 4:00 Love how the kid leans on the jeep while its on the hi lift jack.

Why are you not using the new hauler? Thank you for the videos! Hope all is well!
Is the tow truck not street legal?
Now thats Certified Service , nice dealership uniform recognized that
I love this guy
Ghost Comanche! Totally disappeared.
You are the first to catch that, so does the jeep after the comanche. It must be an area like the devils triangle! LOL
+saxyweed that was the end of the map. lol
they lost connection to the game
You should do long videos like this more often.
is it just me or did anyone else notice the kid playing "Russian Roulette" with that hi lift jack? what if the car just rolled forward? it would have been a bad situation man...
Jahahahahahhahahhahahahahahajahahhahhah not laughing at you I just love how you use the jeep as a little boost up
I think it did alright for being a 350 in 2nd gear ,that's a good bit of weight plus going up a hill
dont forget the big tires !!! they change the center of sterring !! which will break something sooner than later !!!
surprised the wrecker couldn't spin those tires? is it the 454 motor? i cant imagine it being a 350 and towing those heavy monsters outta the woods? either way. the wrecker is a bad ass truck!
the wrecker only has a 350, but its bored out .060
You can get serious power from a 350 engine it just depends on what you put in and on top of it.
6 37" tires have ALOT of traction
worldwar11 I Know I run 37-13.50-20' mud tires.
With what he's doing it's best not to spin with 37 and that much weight u could eazly break an axle
love yuor videos. do u get pay for do recoveries ?
do you have full winch and boom controls in the cab as well?

recoveryteam Thanks for your reply!!
I always enjoy your videos, greetings from Bolivia!
Good work!
recoveryteam...was it in low range?...

Why aren't you hauling with the new Chevy?
Wanted to ask him the same thing. If it proformed well enough...
Jos the Rebel This was filmed before I got the new truck.
Jos the Rebel Yes the Duramax pulls the wrecker great!
recoveryteam Oh ok. Asked you some vids ago what happen with the frontfender on the wrecker, Hit a tree or sometin ?
Jos the Rebel Yes, back on a winter run, was backing up not watching my front end, and clipped a tree.
need the ole 4sp standard trans with the granny low thats better
I was thinking 6spd w/ a 4-1 on a transfer case. He would be able to pull a tank up that hill
I like it
Thanks BSF recovery for helping out one of our club members. See this rig back on the trail wheel'en at th-cam.com/video/anlQSlbTHlU/w-d-xo.html
How much do you charge for tows
I see and hear your little helper with you lol 👱
what do you charge to do these recoveries
It's my understanding that they don't charge.
hey
again customer in his rig being towed. Which is pointless! No need to risk his life but whatever.
You need a truck with more power. Get an old f-350 7.3 IDI. Way better than a gmc
the small block in the reckor has more power plus he can push more RPM
