driving a 330i MSport with a few other tidbits upgraded in the US...recently had a 430i loaner with bigger wheels...noticed right away when coasting... we've wondered about switching to non-run flats...No longer sell the wagon in the US...too bad. I had a M340i with 20s and lowered springs. Made a massive difference but also a massive difference to my wallet. Tyres £150 more and insurance double. So sold the car and gone back to a stock M340i. First few weeks were hard and couldn't get used to it but now don't notice it and with the price hikes in the UK have stood up will with the current increase in insurance etc

I have the 330d touring xdrive in dravit Grey. I picked this up with 1900 miles on the clock in Feb 2020 as a demonstator for £40,000. It had every option ticked apart from the towbar. Even now it only has 19000 on the clock. Fantastic car! I can't justify changing it now I've had it just over 3 years. Even bmw wanted to purchase the car back from me for what I paid for it. I was considering the 340d in brooklyn Grey with the same spec but at 69k on the BMW configurator, just doesn't make sense!

Mine came with the 20” Mperformance 795M wheels with star marked P-Zero PZ4 runflats (front 225/35 rear 255/30). I am asking you as the time to replace my Pirelli’s is near but I can’t find a star marked PS4s in that size or in fact any other tyre which isn’t run flat. I read a lot that non star marked tyres even at the same dimensions could cause issues with the xdrive and the transfer box. Not sure how to proceed.

I would love to try the PS4S in these dimensions but BMW refuses to fit them on my car and they told me that if I change to an other tyre I invalidate the warrantee of the car and if there are any issues with the transfer box I will not be covered. I am told these star marked Pirelli’s are apparently specifically designed to work with the M340i. I would appreciate some advice on the matter!

we've had out M340d for about 3 years now, have to disagree with you over the runflat tyres, we don't find the ride compromised at all. And I would never not put run flats on given the safety benefit, I'd rather the missus is able to slowly drive to a safe parking spot rather than pulling over to the hard shoulder, all day long, and night too
Even switching from the OEM 18"s on winters to the 19" summers make no discernible difference

Sorry Joe, got to disagree. The black M340D badge looks naff, just a personal opinion. And while I like the design of the wheels I think the colour is wrong; they’ll never ever look clean.
I think the 340D looks great as is personally - save a bloody lot of money and enjoy it as it comes in my humble opinion

Interesting you get so low mpg. Some of the mild hybrid stuff won’t work on cruise control. If you hold it on the throttle and release on down slopes you should be getting 65+ maybe 70mpg. Not bad for a car that can launch to 60 in 4.15. The truly are great all rounders.

Just wondered if you have to get permission from your insurer if you change from a runflat to a normal tyre ? as it could be seen to be a) a modification and b) the loss of a safety feature .
