Yes you can but remember you still have the SEAT factory warranty on this car plus the seats, wheels and brakes will cost you the price of the ABT cars uplift of £9k, it’s actually not bad value (for the kit, and may be the car)

I agree and then carry out a Stage 2 or Stage 3 tune with appropriate hardware for £5-£10k and end up 450+bhp Formentor. ABt stuff is always way over priced.
Wish we got the 5 pot version, although I'm fairly certain this handles and feels better due to much less weight in the nose, also only 30hp down on the 5 too!
Sat in the Formentor, love the look, the colours etc, have to say though, I was disappointed by the cheap plastics…I’m guessing I’d get used to it but sure did feel like a step down from what I’m used to…
Well, manufacturing has changed quite a lot. It's not the same "cheap" Seat as it was before. The Seats are the same you get in the RS3, RS4, RS5 and RS6 Performance.
I have 190 horsepower version - I don't miss power and infotainment is alright IMO. The thing I complain about Formentor is a road noise - I have no idea why reviewers are not talking about it?
Excuse me, but what is a Formentor VZ3? From Germany, I only know the Formentor VZ 2.0 TSI with 310PS 4 Cylinder and the Formentor VZ5 with the 390 PS 5 Cylinder.
Really enjoyed the review Joe! The car looks great on the road as well and the seats look very special. Take away the questionable paddles and your pretty much set with the power/style/handling and braking which ABT offers. Cool that it is a dealer approved thing which would also make things more seamless on insurance as it is an OEM model I presume which you can just select? Anyhow, great stuff and looking forward to hopefully meeting up in April for a film 👍
I had the previous Cupra R ABT the one you reviewed a few years ago, people going on about pricing I agree. Mind you, I paid 31k new for and sold it two years later with 21k miles for…. 31k. So can’t complain!

Great video Joe. Would be interested to see the comparison to a Tiguan R. As for the gearbox on this formentor have you try turning all the assists off after putting it into manual mode to see if it changes gear still? Worth a go. Only say this as my old F10 530D would change in manual mode automatically until I switched off the assists fully after selecting manual mode and sport.
This is an insult to Brits, and for 1 reason. The Formentor VZ5. This is basically a slightly modified Formentor. Why did they do that instead of bringing the VZ5 with the RS3 5 cylinder to the UK. Why waste 60k for what's essentially a T Rock R with a stage 1 remap and some front brakes. I would assume that to buy a stock Formentor and get it to this level would be cheaper than to buy this one. The only upside to this is that it's all from factor which means warrenty won't be affected. But still, go to Europe and get yourself a VZ5.
Simply because the Ea855 is sacred and limited in Audi’s books so only reserved for the rs3 and rsq3s, which are by the way stopped being able to be ordered in the UK due to supply issues😅

ABT usually use piggyback ECUs, from what ive heard they dont seem to hit the listed figures sadly going waaay under just like those bullshit tuning boxes, at least on the diesels like the s4.
How it feels down the low range rpms torque wise compared to the regular version without the ABT pack? I also question if the torque curve changed and get some more torque below 2000rpms as it would normally have the max torque value before.
Just get a new used VZ3 for £43k (one in Autotrader) and put proper maps, an intake, lowering springs and better brakes on it and you have 400bhp with a better DSG map and a car that will do sub 4 seconds to 60mph. Alternatively buy the ABT one new in Autotrader at £55k with £5k off list!
The only version of this that makes even some sense at this price point is the VZ5....and even thats pushing it. I looked at these when they first released and ended up going with an RSQ3 instead.

Probably not as there will be only 160. The last official ABT Cupra, the R ST Leon, were around £31k back in 2019. Five years later you'll still pay around £28k and that's if you can actually find one.
I bought a 1 year old Model Y Performance (mainly as a business expense) - and I have to say for the same money I’d rather have the Tesla. I miss the noise but the Tesla would destroy this in almost any situation. I also only paid £44k. £60k is ridiculous!
I swapped my cupra for a mk4 megane rs, it is too capable and gets boring where as the meg 4rs is perfect for road fun and sounds better in my opinion.

Cant really compare the formentor to an X3 the X3 is in a totally different planet. For starters the boot on a formentor is awful comparatively speaking. It's a class below car . Madness price .

VZ3 in the UK is the 2.0 TSI 310 PS the same as the VZ1 and VZ2. The VZ3 had Brembo brakes and some other options different to the VZ1 & VZ2.

RSQ3 or X3M40i is a better bet.
Very true. ABT package is a rip off. If you get the standard VZ2 or VZ3 and just put a tune on it, it’s faster for about 90% less price

Not sure about 60k, on autotrader there is one going for £39,000 with almost 7000 miles on it.
It doesn't have all the upgrades on it, it doesn't have the upgraded ABT seats
I have a 310 and it’s quite annoying that this isn’t offered as a dealer fit and manufacturer approved set of upgrades such as Ford did with Mountune.
