There’s some great albums here, and many that I still haven’t gotten around to listening. I’ve got to give the TBDM album a listen still. A lot of these would make my own list, but I'd certainly have to add Imminence - The Black to it since that and Knocked Loose's album were my 1A, and 1B for all of 2024. I'd probably also put Like Moths to Flames somewhere on there, and Thrown. I feel like Thrown's album just got kind of slept on because a lot of the tracks were already released as singles, but that doesn't change the fact that they were all straight bangers.

standouts for this year are definitely Blood Incantation and the return of Julie Christmas, other albums i enjoyed came from : Akhlys, Hail Spirit Noir, Ihsahn, Alcest, Oranssi Pazuzu, Judas Priest and Schammasch
I wonder where PLot in You would be if all 9 songs was released as an album with perhaps an extra or two songs. To be honest Spotify doesen't even consider them EP's, because they are only 3 songs with less than 15 minutes of music, so they are just singles.
1. The Last Will and Testament - Opeth 2. Absolute Elsewhere - Blood Incantation 3. Moon Healer - A Job For A Cowboy 4. Servitude - The Black Dahlia Murder 5. Phantoma - Unleash The Archers 6. Invincible Shield - Judas Priest 7. Friend of a Phantom - VOLA 8. Duat - Shokran 9. Merciless - Body Count 10. Silhouettes - Giant Walker 11. From Zero - Linkin Park 12. Death Is But A Door - Alluvial I'm sure there's a bunch a more I forgot, this year is packed to the brim
I’ve seen conflicting opinions about it, and it’s a weird one because there’s only 4/11 tracks on the album that weren’t pre-released as singles but I love FIR’s album from this year. I love how both the Rap and Metal sides of the band were really embraced on that album. And Ronald has to be one of the craziest songs of the year
156/Silence and Cane Hill’s new records were my AOTY. 156/Silence was dark and furious while Cane Hill was more emotional and vibey. Just all around incredible albums with 9-10 songs through out both records.

Holy shit I had no idea Darkest Hour released a new album. LOVED Godless Prophets so I am checking that out ASAP. Nik, did you check out the Frontierer EP?
2024 was full of so many awesome Records, Opeth's The Last Will & Testament along with The Nothing That Is by Fit For An Autopsy and Of Course You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To by Knocked Loose, definitely my favorites of last year!
My favorites are Fall by Borknagar and Draconian Darkness by Wolfheart, but I didn't expect them to be here. However I'm really surprised The last will and testament wasn't mentioned. It's not only a great album (one of my favorites of the year) but also similar to some of the albums mentioned in the video
My two favorites that weren’t on here was the new High on Fire record “Cometh the Storm” and the new Windwaker album “HYPERVIOLENCE”. Constant replays from me.
1. Make Them Suffer - Make Them Suffer 2. Boundaries - Death Is Little More 3. ERRA - CURE 4. thrown - EXCESSIVE GUILT 5. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
2024 has been MY year, dude. Two of my favorite bands, Knocked Loose and The Black Dahlia Murder, drop albums that are so fucking good. I found my love in Linkin Park again with their album drop, Kublai Khan delivers, Kerry King makes a comeback with his new band, and all the other bands listed here. 2024 was such a great year for albums.
Something I love about From Zero (aside from the music and nostalgia) is that it's a breezy 32 minutes long. During a slow period at work, I can queue it up on Spopoopifoo and rip right through it. There's been some days I've listened to it three times in a shift. Upcoming in 2025: new Bloodywood. New Gojira (an educated wish). New Jinjer. New Spiritbox. New HÄMATOM (an NDH band of which I've become a big fan). It's gonna be a good year for fun metal things!
My favorite albums and EPs in no particular order: Candy - It's Inside You (and Flipping EP) Wristmeetrazor - Degeneration fallingwithscissors - The Death And Birth of An Angel Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To PeelingFlesh - The G Code Boundaries - Death Is Little More Liberate - The Tide EP Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: NeX GEn XclocktowerX - Greatest Hits: Vol. 2 Fatal Realm - Demo EP Corpse Pile - Hardgore Death Metal Girl of Glass - Self-Titled EP Trauma Ray - Chameleon Balmora and Since My Beloved - Six Pacts Etched in Blood (Split EP) Bodysnatcher - Vile Conduct Rev3rent - Last Trace EP Contention - Artillery from Heaven Diamond Construct - Angel Killer Zero Crucifiction - Will To Power Frontierer - The Skull Burned Wearing Hell Like A Life Vest As The Night Wept Hereisaropegoodluck - Nothing To Write Home About In Which Divides Us - These Skylights Mimic Our Freedom See You Next Tuesday and meth. - Assymetrics (Split Album) No Cure - I Hope I Die Here Peacemaker FL - First Degree EP Rabid - Demo EP Pyrrhon - Exhaust Speed - Only One Mode Thou - Umbilical Victimblamed - Death Is Only Our Release EP Tracheotomy - Fixated Propensity For Destruction Vomit Forth - Terrified Of God
I'm not the biggest Judas Priest fan - like I'm not going to skip it if it comes on, but I'm not seeking it out - however I have to admit Rob Halford is SEVENTY-THREE and he sounds incredible. Dude knows how to take care of his voice. Listen to other singers from his era that also sing higher register- Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Perry, Axl Rose, Vince Neil - none of them can sing their old songs anymore.
Candy's It's Inside You is something else, personally. Probably my favorite album of 2024, because It's Inside You is really what Code Orange could've had been instead of selling-out with The Above.
You need to check out the rest of Blood Incantation’s discography! They are a phenomenal death metal band (with one space ambient album as well)! My album of the year for metal is from a melodic blackened death metal band called Kanonenfieber. They are a German extreme metal band that is themed around World War I, and even if you don’t know German, their songs are incredibly catchy!
Boundaries definitely deserves album of the year. I'm shocked at how low their spotify monthly listener count is, they deserve to be up there with Kublai Khan and Knocked Loose in my opinion. Good picks in general Nik. Diamond Construct, Job for a Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder, Darkest Hour, BMTH I also really liked the albums by The Browning Darko US Foreign Hands SeeYouSpaceCowboy Fit For an Autopsy Like Moths To Flames 156/Silence Bilmuri I also listened to Dying Wish a lot last year, but that came out in late 2023 Looking forward to 2025, and what new metal music we will get to hear.
For me it’s You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To as an easy number 1. Second would be Exhibition of Prowess and 3rd The Gcode. Vile Conduct was good. Kinda basic I know, but I just wasn’t really excited about anything else in 2024. 2025 should be a better year for me with new Whitechapel and Shadow of Intent alone.
2024 is a jampacked year of metal where you could literally go in so many directions with a top list and you would STILL leave somebody worthwhile out. My vote for overlooked is Nile but there is an impossible amount of choices
another thing about boundaries new record is that matt's lyricism really shines on it too. some of the most saddest and tragic lyrics I've ever heard. (blame's burden still makes me weep)
My top 15 I technically have a top 40 but let’s just stick with ten unless u wanna know the full list 1. Coma - Gaerea 2. The Nothing That Is - Fit For An Autopsy 3. The Last Will & Testament - Opeth 4. Opera - Fleshgod Apocalypse 5. Moon Healer - Job For A Cowboy 6. Cure - Erra 7. The G Code - Peelingflesh 8. 3: Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
4: Opeth - The last will and testament
5: As I lay dying - through storms ahead
6: Dark Tranquillity - Endtime signals
7: Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition
8: Job for a cowboy - Moonhealer
9: Aborted - Valut of horror
10: Brothers of metal - Fimbulvinter
A lot of these would make my own list, but I'd certainly have to add Imminence - The Black to it since that and Knocked Loose's album were my 1A, and 1B for all of 2024. I'd probably also put Like Moths to Flames somewhere on there, and Thrown. I feel like Thrown's album just got kind of slept on because a lot of the tracks were already released as singles, but that doesn't change the fact that they were all straight bangers.
Here’s my top album :
1. Ankor - Shoganai and Future Palace - Distortion (can’t choose between the two)
2. Fleshgod Apocalypse - Opera
3. Dark Oath - Ages of Man
4. Ecclesia - Ecclesia Militans
5. Nightwish - Yesterwynde
And honorable mention to… Knocked loose - YWGBYST ; BMTH - Post human : Nex Gen ; Poppy - Negative spaces ; The Warning - Keep me fed : Gåte - Ulveham
And for the EP’s, definitely… Disembodied Tyrant X Synestia - The Poetic Edda and Xandria - Universal tales
Never heard of Allt, thanks :)
Awesome band, got to know them last year. Gonna see them on March. Should be awesome
In no particular order, my favorites for 2024 were:
1. Mirar - Mare
2. Disembodied Tyrant - The Poetic Edda
3. Larcenia Roe - Dereliction
4. Scarlet Rot - Scarlet Rot
5. Infant Annihilator - Mister Sister Fister: Re-Conception
My top 5 EPs/albums of last year:
1). ERRA - CURE
2). Spiritbox - The Fear of Fear
3). Bring Me The Horizon - Nex Gen
4). Kingdom of Giants - Bleeding Star
5). AVRALIZE - OVERDOSE
Spiritbox was late 2023
standouts for this year are definitely Blood Incantation and the return of Julie Christmas, other albums i enjoyed came from : Akhlys, Hail Spirit Noir, Ihsahn, Alcest, Oranssi Pazuzu, Judas Priest and Schammasch
I wonder where PLot in You would be if all 9 songs was released as an album with perhaps an extra or two songs. To be honest Spotify doesen't even consider them EP's, because they are only 3 songs with less than 15 minutes of music, so they are just singles.
Definitely 'Death is Little More' rips as fuck, but I put it in second place, because personally 'Starfire' by Darko was the 2024 AOTY
1. The Last Will and Testament - Opeth
2. Absolute Elsewhere - Blood Incantation
3. Moon Healer - A Job For A Cowboy
4. Servitude - The Black Dahlia Murder
5. Phantoma - Unleash The Archers
6. Invincible Shield - Judas Priest
7. Friend of a Phantom - VOLA
8. Duat - Shokran
9. Merciless - Body Count
10. Silhouettes - Giant Walker
11. From Zero - Linkin Park
12. Death Is But A Door - Alluvial
I'm sure there's a bunch a more I forgot, this year is packed to the brim
The Last Will And Testament not making the best albums list is wild. I think the only metal album I like better from this year is Absolute Elsewhere.
Lmao
Absolute elsewhere easy number one of last year
@@7ChaosBlack you should start making videos trashing on "fake metalheads". That would actually be worth your time
@@7ChaosBlackget a job
@@7ChaosBlackget a job
I’ve seen conflicting opinions about it, and it’s a weird one because there’s only 4/11 tracks on the album that weren’t pre-released as singles but I love FIR’s album from this year. I love how both the Rap and Metal sides of the band were really embraced on that album. And Ronald has to be one of the craziest songs of the year
So glad to see Diamond Construct getting the love! Definitely my top album of the year - great band!
156/Silence and Cane Hill’s new records were my AOTY. 156/Silence was dark and furious while Cane Hill was more emotional and vibey. Just all around incredible albums with 9-10 songs through out both records.
1. ALLT - From The New World
2. Imminence - The Black
3. Graphic Nature - Who Are You When Nobody Is Watching?
4. Boundaries - Death Is Little More
5. LMTF - The Cycle Of Trying To Cope
ERRA's 'CURE' was also a great album. (Arguably) their best album to date.
And Imminence's album 'The Black' was also a good one.
1. Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet
2. State Faults - Children of the Moon
3. Gaerea - Coma
4. Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
5. Knockled Loose - YWGBYST
Not seeing gaerea on his list was shocking to say the least
VOLA hit me square in the feels. The lyrics just drip with pensive sadness, and the J U N T S are maniacal
You introduced me to shokran with the amazing music video and it's been my album of the year. I've listened to duat more than take me back to eden now.
1 blood incantation-absolute elsewhere
2 job for a cowboy-moon healer
3 Hauntologist-hollow
Topp 20 Album 2024
1. Alleviate - DMNS
2. Vola - Friend of a phantom
3. Skraekoedlan - Vermillion sky
4. Imminence - The black
5. Nothing more - CARNAL
6. Allt - From the new world
7. Bottenhavet - Ljud i tysta rum
8. 156/silence - People watching
9. Julie Christmas - Ridiculous and full of blood
10. Darkest hour - Pertpetual: Terminal
11. Dvne - Voidkind
12. Make them suffer - Make them suffer
13. Leprous - Melodies of atonement
14. Gaerea - Coma
15. Shokran - Duat
16. Gåte - Ulveham
17. Enterprise earth - Death: an anthology
18. Ingested - The tide of death and fractured dreams
19. Fit for an autopsy - The nothing that is
20. Poppy - Negative spaces
I just missed Fit For An Autopsy's - The Nothing That Is, my personal favorite.
No one has mentioned Dark Tranquility’s Endtime Signals
My two favorites that weren’t on here was the new High on Fire record “Cometh the Storm” and the new Windwaker album “HYPERVIOLENCE”. Constant replays from me.
Death Is Little More is so underrated... nice to see it being your fav record of 2024 :) I love every song on it, especially Blame's Burden :)
My top 5:
1. You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
2. Perpetual Terminal
3. Absolute Elsewhere
4. Death Is Little More
5. Highly Irresponsible
1. Make Them Suffer - Make Them Suffer
2. Boundaries - Death Is Little More
3. ERRA - CURE
4. thrown - EXCESSIVE GUILT
5. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
1. Boundaries
2. Thrown
3. ERRA
4. Diamond Construct
5. 156/Silence
Calling Memphis rap/hip-hop phonk is crazy work. 😭 We love you Nik.
My favorite albums and EPs in no particular order:
Candy - It's Inside You (and Flipping EP)
Wristmeetrazor - Degeneration
fallingwithscissors - The Death And Birth of An Angel
Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
PeelingFlesh - The G Code
Boundaries - Death Is Little More
Liberate - The Tide EP
Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: NeX GEn
XclocktowerX - Greatest Hits: Vol. 2
Fatal Realm - Demo EP
Corpse Pile - Hardgore Death Metal
Girl of Glass - Self-Titled EP
Trauma Ray - Chameleon
Balmora and Since My Beloved - Six Pacts Etched in Blood (Split EP)
Bodysnatcher - Vile Conduct
Rev3rent - Last Trace EP
Contention - Artillery from Heaven
Diamond Construct - Angel Killer Zero
Crucifiction - Will To Power
Frontierer - The Skull Burned Wearing Hell Like A Life Vest As The Night Wept
Hereisaropegoodluck - Nothing To Write Home About
In Which Divides Us - These Skylights Mimic Our Freedom
See You Next Tuesday and meth. - Assymetrics (Split Album)
No Cure - I Hope I Die Here
Peacemaker FL - First Degree EP
Rabid - Demo EP
Pyrrhon - Exhaust
Speed - Only One Mode
Thou - Umbilical
Victimblamed - Death Is Only Our Release EP
Tracheotomy - Fixated Propensity For Destruction
Vomit Forth - Terrified Of God
Copse Pile, Vomit Forth 🔥🤘
I’m just gonna pretend you said Like Moths to Flames - The Cycles of Trying to Cope.
Boundaries and Erra put out my two favs this year and I got to see them both at Christmas Burns Red. It's been a good year. 😁
Like Moths to Flames - The Cycles of trying to cope and As I Lay Dying - Through storms ahead, easy.
Self hell by WSS, and hyperviolence by Windwaker is missing
Cane Hill, Imminence, Windwaker albums???
Darko rocked my world this year and Avralize did the same. Poppy was also lovely.
But also Sir Bilmuri made me vibe a bunch so kudos to him!❤
I'm not the biggest Judas Priest fan - like I'm not going to skip it if it comes on, but I'm not seeking it out - however I have to admit Rob Halford is SEVENTY-THREE and he sounds incredible. Dude knows how to take care of his voice. Listen to other singers from his era that also sing higher register- Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Perry, Axl Rose, Vince Neil - none of them can sing their old songs anymore.
If you like heavier fast music painkiller is perfect, Im not a fan of their slower stuff but painkiller is one of my fav albums
He's a legend
My top 5 for cool kids:
- Job for a Cowboy: Moon Healer
- In Vain: Solemn
- Kami no Ikari: See You in Hell
- Gaerea: Coma
- Ihsahn: Ihsahn
Candy's It's Inside You is something else, personally. Probably my favorite album of 2024, because It's Inside You is really what Code Orange could've had been instead of selling-out with The Above.
You need to check out the rest of Blood Incantation’s discography! They are a phenomenal death metal band (with one space ambient album as well)! My album of the year for metal is from a melodic blackened death metal band called Kanonenfieber. They are a German extreme metal band that is themed around World War I, and even if you don’t know German, their songs are incredibly catchy!
1 - Linkin park
2 - falling in reverse
3 - Mick Mars (solo album)
4 - Cory marks
5 - skillet
Also thrown, INERTIA, Heriot, Paledusk, Godhand, silverlake murder, AVRALIZE, Archers, Light The Torch, LEVELS etc.
So happy Darkest Hour is getting some love and attention. Such a good band
Boundaries definitely deserves album of the year. I'm shocked at how low their spotify monthly listener count is, they deserve to be up there with Kublai Khan and Knocked Loose in my opinion.
Good picks in general Nik. Diamond Construct, Job for a Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder, Darkest Hour, BMTH
I also really liked the albums by
The Browning
Darko US
Foreign Hands
SeeYouSpaceCowboy
Fit For an Autopsy
Like Moths To Flames
156/Silence
Bilmuri
I also listened to Dying Wish a lot last year, but that came out in late 2023
Looking forward to 2025, and what new metal music we will get to hear.
Imminence and as I lay dying new album is the best album in 2024 for sure
im excited for next year! spiritbox, architects, dayseeker, motionless in white, and im sure im missing some
For me it’s You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To as an easy number 1.
Pretty surprised about blood incantation and darkest hour 😲 Also JFAC was overlooked by so many
My top 15 I technically have a top 40 but let’s just stick with ten unless u wanna know the full list
1. Coma - Gaerea
2. The Nothing That Is - Fit For An Autopsy
3. The Last Will & Testament - Opeth
4. Opera - Fleshgod Apocalypse
5. Moon Healer - Job For A Cowboy
6. Cure - Erra
7. The G Code - Peelingflesh
8. The Cycles of Trying to Cope - Like Moths To Flames
9. The Tide of Death & Fractured Dreams - Ingested
10. Starfire - Darko US
11. Negative Spaces - Poppy
12. Absolute Elimination of Existence - Axiomatic Dematerialization
13. Suffer & Become - Vitriol
14. Vault of Horrors - Aborted
15. The Temptation of Pain - Saltwound
Y’all need to see the diamond construct guitarist fuck up the pedalboard. Goes crazy. Loved that album
Assemble The Chariots, AVRALIZE Alpha Wolf, Fit For An Autopsy, Make Them Suffer, HANABIE, Kingdom Of Giants did it for me this year :)
