The urge was already growing inside in me. it was only a matter of time before I got hold of some sort of plant. He just facilitated it in a risk free way lol. those matches where basically matches, they lit the madness within! HAAA
My mate bought an orange chilli tree for putting in pickled onion jars for more kick. And thinking back it was a great looking bonsai. I'll have to get one
You are doing a great job with it!!! I got a merlot pepper to overwinter well, fruited in early Spring and then died. You have done well to keep this alive through so many prunings and repotting. Nice harvest!!! 😎🌱🌿
@corrine Wager Thank you. Your right, growing teaches us a lot of things and it’s good to realise that time changes things as it goes along. :) thanks for watching
Hi. Yes. I’ve wired some branches, but I’ve found they break and get damaged easily so I’ve pretty much give up. They wire really well when young. I wish I had had wired the trunk when it was young. Maybe I will try again in the future I’m probably better now at wiring than I used to be
I got seeds from Wahaca in Covent Gardens last year. we planted them and now we cook with the chilli peppers which grow from the plant! I think I want to copy you and turn on of the plants into a bonsai.
I’m not sure what one mine came. Very likely Covent Garden as well!! You should defo try and bonsai it. It will still grow the peppers :) Thanks for watching.
Thanks. It just isn’t predictable. If you cut and olive you know you will get 2 or 3 new shoots there and it will be smaller. This sometimes does backs. Sometimes shoots one. Sometimes 3. Then some times internode length is mad. Just out of no where a small branch will just take off and be thick. Some times it back buds. Sometimes it doesn’t. Basically not predicable, so it’s hard to plan ahead and develop as such. I think next time I video it I will try and show some examples 👍
Cheers for watching and subbin 👍 I’ve bought a few trees, But very very cheap ones. A lot of mine are from seed tho. I haven’t the money to get crazy old material and what not :( As for fertiliser i just use any off the shelf stuff. Miracle go, bioBio that type of thing. I don’t get to caught up in it. It all does the same stuff
That is hilarious how your mate thought he brought home matches but he actually brought home your new lifelong obsession. 😂

Cheers bro, It’s a shame about your merlot, they have such a cool colour. At least you got some to enjoy. 👍
This has turned in to a cool shape over the years. Nice work.
Thanks. I don’t like it at the minute, but it’s reassuring to know some one looking at it with fresh eyes thinks it’s doing alright. :)

That's a very cute little chili plant. I think you've developed it quite nicely. Bonus tasty chilis too!
Cheers Eric . I nearly killed it last month. But it’s okay now. Might have forgot to water it 😂
@@BackGardenBonsai that was my biggest killer over winter - underwatering. Glad it held on!
Have you thought to wire and bend the trunk or branches?

Thank you.
@@BackGardenBonsai you're welcome.. I have many bonsai in my garden..
For something you hate, it looks pretty damn good. How does it not respond like other trees?
Thanks.

Love how you do your bonsai from seed, not too many videos elsewhere. What do you use to feed your trees?
Cheers for watching and subbin 👍

@@BackGardenBonsai how often do you fertilize?
Looks good and you can enjoy cooking with fresh chili ! I'm wondering, are those jalapenos ?
Thanks J. I think they are Serrano if I remember right.
Yes, it looks like serrano. Love it. The structure is really beautiful.
Thank you. I double checked, it’s defo Serrano. :)
